I have had more than my share of kicks to the nuts!
I'm with ya bro. I always had a bad habit of trusting people wayyy too easily. Still have the scars to prove it. That's probably why I am so paranoid now!
I met one of my very best friends on an MSN politics forum; she and I helped moderate that site for awhile when it split off from another board. My Mom was convinced she was an ax murder for awhile, the first time I drove to Houston to meet this friend, my Mom was scared to death. I called her when I got to my friend's house and told her, "I'm sitting here in the living room with the ax murderer and her cat, and so far, I'm ok." We still laugh about that; when I saw her in February in Galveston, she asked me if my Mom still thinks she's an ax murder. She and I have traveled together some. We have been to Vegas twice (the first time we went to Vegas was the first time either of us had been and we had a blast!). We go to Galveston 2-3 times a year for a weekend. I have also been to visit her several times at her house. And I have made several day trips to Houston to meet other folks we met on the board. Lots of fun.
No online romances, but I'm not looking for that, anyway.

Yep....that is all you can do. It does pay off though. You keep having faith in people and you end up with some great friends. Like a certain "Sunny" one I know!
