Yes and Yes. Beating Detroit in another game 7, this time in Detroit. I have a feeling that the Spurs will face an elimination game in the second round down 3-2 to the Mavs and come back and take it 4-3.

    mark it down

if they play like theyre playing now, getting the calls like they did vs dallas they will not

I know theres a 80% theyll get their together by the playoffs
since theyre not redhot now, i dont think a denver team plays so well against us in the playoffs, and a seattle doesnt win two almost 3 games (which is a plus)

    with this
the spurs have a cakewalk to the nba finals

like i said i think the chances of a det-sa finals rematch are very very slim

    1. the 20% chance of the spurs not making it (losing)
    2. 20% chance duncan/parker/ginobili will be hurt (crucial injury losing)
    3. 40% calls that shaq and miami will get in playoffs should mia face det (det gets beat dirty style)
    4. 15% chance of det losing fair and square (making 3 straight finals trips is pretty dam hard)

so if you take the 5% and a det-sa finals is set
with homecourt in det, I can only give the spurs a %60 chance of winning

    so statistically
i would have to put all my money on the spurs

    for the fourth reign*

Any excuse for the coach to lay into the team is good. The Spurs should be pissed by the playoffs. They'll hit their stride against the Lakers and roll through everyone to the Finals. They have an advantage this year because the best team they will face is in the Finals so there won't be any let-up.

    YES X 2!

And put me down as saying the Nets come out of the East, too. Detroit has shown recently that they are still capable of blowing a few mental gaskets. For the Spurs it hinges more on Manu as well as Tim.

I guess I keep thinking of the '95 Rockets. No one thought they would repeat......

'95 Rockets won 49 games, and had lost 5/6 to their chief rival. THIS Spurs team is going to win 63 - 64, have HCA and have split with the most severe threat. The "doubt" of that Rockets squad repeating was MUCH greater.

Maybe Pop should put a bunch of guys on IR at the end of the year so they can rest, just like Rudy T did.

    Yes

I'm calling my shot. The 2nd year the Houston Rockets won a championship, they were fairly unimpressive, winning 47 games and losing 35 after being hit by the injury bug and trading Drexler for Thorpe and getting used to playing with the new pieces. They came up big (unfortunately for the Spurs in the WCF).

Spurs take home another Larry O.

I'm also impressed that kris started this thread. It's much better to call your shot than to be Monday-morning-quarterbacking-I knew-it-all-along-guy.

I appreciate the notice. I'll never be the Monday morning type. Last year, I was convinced the Spurs would lose to Phoenix and said so. The reverse happened, so maybe this year too. I hope so. It would be sad to see the Spurs knocked and somebody like Mark Cuban celebrating.

If I'm right, I'm right. If I'm wrong, I have no problems admitting it.

I don't care if I am wrong as long as I am with the Spurs.

It's not that I don't think the Spurs can/will win ... it's just my reluctance to commit.
