Dirk with the winning shot in a mavs win 75-73. Mavs win by playing Defense.

and after a horrible shooting night.

    that was sweet, man.

I haven't seen the Mavs look that bad on offense in quite a while. 25 points in the second half? crazy.

    MVP!

Of course, you should also count FTs as part of the forumla too. A guy who shoots 9-20 but goes 10-10 from the line is more effective than a guy who shoots 10-19 from the line with no FTA. I'm pretty sure there is a stat that takes that into account, but don't recall what it's called.

That's Points Per Shot (PPS). I prefer that stat for comparing overall scoring efficiency, but if you're just talking about which player is a better shooter, eFG% is the best measure.

Dirk and Nash own the points per shot stats. Dirk scores more though.

Actually Billups beats both of them in PPS. He's 3rd in the league... Nash is 14th and Dirk is 18th.

    Nash is the MVP

i can't even believe that this is still up for discussion

    1) Nash
    2) Billups
    3) Dirk Nowitzki
    4) Kobe Bryant

I thought Lebron had a much better season last year

i think lebron just has better teammates this year than last year, not so much himself improving that greatly

I was on the Nash bandwagon all year, but the way Pho has played the last month makes me wonder. I'm leaning towards Dirk [sacrilege!] right now.

kobe should get it, though dirk does get strong consideration having bring it every night with injuries to his teammates.

Kobe's team is in 7th place in the west and soon to be 8th. That is not what a MVP player does. Take a team to mediocrity.

without him they would be right down there with atlanta and the knicks. he has taken his team to the playoffs, and they are in 7th/8th only due to his play. you think they would be better without kobe? i guess if you think dampier and diop have duncan locked down you would think that.

Where would Dallas be without Dirk? I'm not so sure a Stackhouse/Terry-led team even competes for a Playoff spot.

Unless we take the meaning of the MVP (Most Valuable Player) literally which is the only thing Kobe and LeBron has going for them. But in the last few years, win totals have been completely inseparable from the voting results and I agree.

I just don't think someone who puts up astronomical stats (which is very easy to do if you have the talent and make it a mission to selfishly achieve it) yet their team is in the bottom seed and is just 1 or 2 wins away from being supplanted by 4 different teams, is an MVP. And yes, I don't think LeBron is any different considering that he's only 6 wins ahead of Kobe.

I agree Kobe doesn't deserve it. He's the same selfish asshole he's always been. Read my sig.
