    Because they didn't want him?

He was drafted for Phoenix by San Antonio, wasn't one of those things where the Spurs actually wanted him.

From memory, that is correct, I think.
I think ducks' explanation is part of it, too about the salary cap.

But , they only got second round picks for him, I think. If you're going to trade away talent, get something back, don't give it away for free.

Marion is soft? I don't think so, he is quite tough.

The way he plays it's pretty much impossible for him to be labelled soft.

Shawn Bradley once got over 20 rebounds and averged 9 a game. Is he soft?

Mike D'antoni didn't question that last foul by Marion.

Perhaps the Spurs didn't see talent in him? Combine that with them thinking there may not be anyone left at #28 that they liked enougd along with the salary cap issues and I think we have figured out an answer.

Question - Did Spurs get 2nd round picks for THAT year, or was it for upcoming years? Perhaps who the Spurs actually wanted was going to be available late 2nd round anyway, so why use a 1st round pick on them and guarentee salary when you can nab him with a 2nd round pick and get an extra pick as well? I can't remember who the Spurs drafted that year though, so I'm not sure if that theory works out. Was it Romain Sato or somebody like that?

No other player on the Phoenix squad last season struggled to much in the playoffs in the system. Amare is as much a product of Nash as Marion is and he did fine. Nash himself does fine and he's in the same system.

Marion also was invisible in 2003 when Phoenix had Marbury, so I'm not sure that's correct. I just don't get it. They don't run plays for him normally and he gets his numbers from fast breaks, putbacks, broken plays etc it's not like he is a shooter who goes cold in the playoffs.

I just don't understand, his game doesn't really coincide with being the type of game which should struggle in the playoffs because it is based on hard work, a nose for the ball and athleticism.
He did great against the Mavs last season. He sucked against the Spurs...but in his defense he had Bowen on him so it's understandable.

That Nokia would keep every guy's number she ever had in her phone because a man giving her his number would be a rarity. Those commercials are atrocious..

This game has turned sloppy, which is kind of surprising considering neither team plays D that well...

I know what you're saying, but some might say he's mentally soft. Kenyon Martin is even more physical than Marion, but he's not exactly a prime time performer either.

Part of the issue with Marion, too, is he never really has plays run for him. He depends on garbage and things in transition. The more time they're in the half court, the less likely he is to get a decent look.

Odom is an incredible player. Might have been the most underutilised player in the league for the majority of this season.

Imagine him on the Spurs at SF with Bruce getting older. Or at PF with Timmy at C.
