I love Bowen's defensive strategy.. "I let him go by me to the basket" haha

    Brilliant defense..
    Yeah it was brilliant.

It was intentional that he wasn't in front of him.

Bowen says he saw what was coming. He didn't try to beat Nowitzki to a spot, exactly. He instead lined up next to him.

"I knew where he would bring the ball back," Bowen said.

"He made a heck of a defensive play to come from behind me and block it," Nowitzki said. "I didn't see him."

Yes.. any player who happened to be standing next to Dirk while he is shooting a fadeaway and doesn't realize it could have done the same thing.. ANYONE. How could they not? Dirk obviously just didn't realize Bowen was standing there.. because he was too preoccupied with the help defense and getting the shot off..

you can't seriously say that isn't dirk's shot...he lives and dies off shots like that knowing he has defenders on him...calm down a little....it was a great defensive play....

and no not any other player in the league would have blocked that shot.. because most players would worry about having a pity foul called... Bowen showed great defensive ability, as well as a drive to keep his team alive...

But it's not over, and that won't happen every game, but the Spurs aren't going anywhere!

The sad thing is, in Mav Land, John McClane is considered a guru because he knows the ball is orange.

There's no need for the "shoulda " stuff...both teams are playing to win even if the Refs Sucked...the Mavs did what they needed to do for those wins regardless.
For Game 5, The ball bounced to our court finally that's all...

Bruce really saved our assess...This guy is a unique defensive specialist...Reading his man and how he shoots...He really works under the radar. Culminating in the game winning block. Reminds me of his Block on Mr. Big Shot to stop any nonsense from shifting the Pistons' way.

    Bruce is invaluable.

haha thats a nice picture of him fouling Dirk...didn't get the call so more power to the Spurs and Bowen. Great game tonight and definitely a fun series...
Not a foul. The contact is with the hands, but according to NBA rules, the hand is part of the ball in that situation.

That was a clean foul - checkout the hips.

The spurs had the officials on their side. Face it

    B E A U T I F U L

Despite of protagonists, this picture took the essence of the situation:

A perfect jump allowed the defender putting his rigth hand on the ball.

The star trying to go for his shot

Even the ref ... believe it ... he has his eyes open

but ... let's be honest if we were in Dallas the guy in grey uniform would call a foul

Great block. Great game. Bowen owning Dirk? To the tune of 31 points? Whatever...

Congrats to y'all. But this junk about "could or should 3-2 SA or whatever, c'mon. Game 1 could just as easily gone to Dallas if not for the foul fest called on Damp and Diop in the first quarter whenever they just stood there with their arms straight up. You didn't hear anyone around here belly-aching about that endlessly like on here. C'mon, enjoy the series for what it is, two heavyweights slugging it out and playing the best ball in the NBA right now. Good luck to both teams Friday night. Just more to the Mavs.

Look at the two pictures posted previously. No hip contact, maybe short to short contact. Totally clean block.

The Spurs certainly had an advantage with the calls tonight. BUT there were only a few blatantly wrong calls/no-calls, and Dirk got one of those. The "could go either way" calls certainly went to homecourt tonight for the most part.

Excuse me if this has already been pointed out, but Dirk made a major mistake on that sequence. He had Bowen in the air on the pump fake, and all he had to do was lean into him and draw the foul. If he does that, we're not even talking about Bowen's block. Dirk shoot two freethrows, and the Spurs are possibly making their fishing plans this morning.

Nice recovery by Bowen, but it was a dumb mistake by Dirk.

but it wasn't anything approaching even a good defensive play
excuse the moron, Mavs fans haven't known for a while what that "defense" thing is, so they have zero clue what they are talking about.
