Yet one of the best bars in Ft. Worth was copied for a bar in Dallas---aggs

hehe...are you serious? you are grasping at straws man.
okay...i concede...this proves the overall cultural superiority of Ft. Worth to Dallas.

    Aggs-
my point is that the things being used in this thread to discredit Dallas as not glamorous-cocaine, boob jobs, fake tanning- could be just as easily said of the most obviously glamorous destinations out there.

Even many people who might totally disagree with me might agree that I am arguing my points far more effectively than you.

I'm not grasping at straws, that was what some of us big kids call an exaggeration.

The point remains the same, the cultural center of downtown Ft. Worth (Sun Dance Square) trumps anything Dallas can put together (I guess lower Greenville is about as close as you can get to Sundance).

I'm looking for a little more culturally than how many different flavors of weed I can buy, which seems to be what you're basing your observations on.

You're right, Knox-Henderson is right up there with Rodeo Drive or Times Square or Lakeshore Drive. Lake Ray Hubbard might as well be South Beach. Fair Park is THE place for celebrities to be seen. All the beautiful people came out for the Borders bookstore opening on Mockingbird. What a town.

No, no, you're wrong -- as they're flying over, they all look down in awe and say, "Oh look, there's Dallas. So glamorous."

Have you been to South Beach? Dallas cannot hold a candle to Miami or South Beach. It's not even close.

Even many people who might totally disagree with me might agree that I am arguing my points far more effectively than you.
Yeah, calling San Antonio a hole is a very effective argument. Or saying that a guy who enjoys dancing with hot women is stupid. Or that anyone who likes Ft. Worth is white trash.

Funny, Nash and Dirk were known to frequent a certain club and two bars in downtown Ft. Worth, I guess your boy Nowitzki is white trash too. LOL.

I'm in a field which I've never heard anyone consider white trash, in fact it's pretty high on the scale of professionals. In this profession there are lots of conventions and seminars to attend. Popular large convention sites include NYC, Boston, Washington, Chicago, Las Vegas, LA. Smaller venue sites include Portland, Seattle, Phoenix/Scottsdale, San Antonio. Seminar site favorites are places like Santa Fe, Aspen and Vail, Sedona, Cour D'Ailene, Carmel, etc.. Nobody really has any interest in going to Dallas. There just is no there there.

I don't know, i can see Paris Hilton getting on her private jet, her pilot asks, "where to today miss hilton? paris? london? NY?" paris replies, "no, i wanna go some place glamorous... ya know like dallas"

St Louis isn't a popular venue for some reason but it's great. I did some training there. St Louis >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dallas. There is actually some real history and culture there not a facade of what money buys. Dallas is kind of like a Hollywood set. Step behind the front and there's nothing behind it.

i go to college in new orleans and evacuated last semester to SLU...st. louis is without question a miserable place to live, even my friends from there admit that. anyone who has ever lived in a city with real vibrance knows this, even those that love st. louis sentimentally, etc.

...as I said, Dallas is a second tier city. it is not la/ny/london. it also has a reputation for wealth and glamour, something i'm personally not really too into.

it would be better to try to attack this vulnerability than to continue to beat your heads against the wall and deny the common assumption/conventional wisdom that dallas is on the wealthy/glamorous tip.

Well... Laclede's Landing is bustling, and then there's the Hill, but the latter is not really downtown. Mostly though, once the sun goes down, it's dead down there. People drive in to go to the Cardinals game, then leave.

So I start to question how you define a "great downtown."

Dallas may have that in terms of "conventional wisdom," but that's borne out of how things were during the halcyon 1960's and 1970's. Some people (Euro-bumpkins, mostly) think Miami is all art-deco and zoot suiters and flamingos too. It doesn't mean that's what Miami is.

Dallas is a third tier city. Not NYC, not London, not Paris. Then not LA, not Chicago, not Boston, not Philadelphia. You can't throw up a couple of art museums, a symphony hall and an opera house and all of a sudden have depth, history, interest. San Antonio has tons more history and depth than Dallas.

    hehe...
    good point hotshot.
If Dallas is third tier city, what does that make SA? 5th or 6th?
(Not cleveland...not detroit...not tampa... not pittsburgh... hehe)
I think you are tryin to imply that SA is 2nd tier while Dallas is 3rd.
all i can really do is nod my head on this one and say when your right, your right.

Whereas i am providing a levelheaded, sober, and reasonable assesment of my city, you guys are uniformally knee jerk "your town sucks, mine is great."

Like I said, none of the wealth resides in Dallas, it all resides north of it.

So I start to question how you define a "great downtown."
Me and a couple of folks from work made a weekend road trip there back at the start of April. We went down to the new Cardinals stadium, the Arch, etc., over to the Anheuser brewery, out to Harrah's to gamble, and back down by the stadium to hang out that night at the bar district, we all had a great time.

Certainly on par with any weekend you could put together in Dallas.

I just want to know what pussyface thinks is so great about this place. Between almost getting run over by all the drunken dumb s with a boat out on Lewisville on the weekends, watching the fake bakers apply their eighteenth coat of make up at Tiki Bob's, paying $10 for a beer down on Greenville, explaining to your boss's girlfriend that you don't want to do a line of coke off her best friend's boobs for the fourteenth time that night, and listening to the city council members on the news accuse each other of corruption while they all are standing there with their hands in the ing cookie jar at the same time, I can't say I see much that is worth writing home about regarding this town.

    ..plano sucks...

if you read what I said, I gave an objective analysis of Dallas.
Its not the greatest city out there.
...it does however have the Dallas Mavericks
and that means what to the rest of the NBA?, oh wait, there is still the one divsion banner.

oh and by the way, in Dallas, there are the cowboys, and then there's everybuddy else.
