Haha...only said if you'd be watching not who you're pulling for. Save childish comments like "Go Heat" or "Wade have Howard for lunch".....just looks silly
I'll be watching. Go, Heat!!! Go, Shaq! Go, DWade! Go, Haslem! Go, Antawn (gag...ack...I think I'm gonna be sick...no, it's passing)! Go, Gary Payton (now I KNOW I'm gonna be sick...go Payton!)! Go, Posey! Go, Jason Williams (ok, that does it...)! Go, Zo! Go Miami!

Beat dallas! Stomp the Mavericks! Pulverize Cuban! Make Avery cry!

(Note to Amarelooms: please don't think you can tell people what to post here)

Shank you are a ing face . Stop to think that maybe I wasn't joking when I said I planned to watch the movie awards? Go yourself please.
'Wedding Crashers' reigns at MTV movie awards

    Tuesday June 6, 2006

LOS ANGELES - "Wedding Crashers," a comedy about two skirt-chasing bachelors, dominated the MTV Movie Awards over the weekend, taking home three awards, including best movie.

Another film about two men, the Oscar-winning gay romance "Brokeback Mountain," won the second-highest number of awards - including best kiss for actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger and best performance for Gyllenhaal.

The two wins by "Brokeback" were rare for a critically acclaimed movie at the offbeat awards show, which lets MTV viewers choose the winners and is known for thumbing its nose at more high-brow ceremonies with categories like "best fight," statues of golden popcorn and shameless plugs for upcoming summer blockbusters.

Gyllenhaal kept the mood light when accepting the award for best kiss by keeping a wide distance between himself and the award's male presenter, singer Justin Timberlake, while the two shook hands. He gave actress Eva Mendes, the co-presenter, a peck on the cheek.

In addition to the top award, "Wedding Crashers" stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn took home the popcorn bucket for best on-screen team and actress Isla Fisher won best breakthrough performance for her role as Vaughn's sex-crazed love interest.

The show featured a hearty helping of irreverence. Steve Carell, who won best comedic performance for his starring role in "The 40-Year Old Virgin," poked fun at awards show acceptance speeches by thanking a string of historic figures.

"Gandhi and the Dalai Lama, if I had any familiarity with your teachings I would not be the person I am today," Carell said.

Actress Jessica Alba, who hosted the show, thanked "all the perverts who voted for me," while picking up the award for sexiest performance for "Sin City."

    "Hollywood statusphere"

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt won the popcorn bucket for best fight in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" but the real-life couple, who announced the birth of their first child in Namibia last week, were not on hand to pick up the award.

"Angelina and Brad are stuck in traffic," actor Colin Farrell joked after announcing the couple's win.

The award for best hero went to Christian Bale for his starring role in "Batman Begins," while best villain went to Hayden Christensen for his portrayal of Darth Vader in "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith."

MTV also awarded a lifetime achievement statue to Jim Carrey, who accepted by joking, "Why do so many struggle with fame when I am able to float effortlessly on the upper edges of the Hollywood 'statusphere?'"

Director e Lee received a special award for his 1989 film "Do The Right Thing." The oversized "Silver Bucket of Excellence" is for films that have a lasting impact on moviegoers.

In one of the evening's more serious notes, Lee accepted the award saying: "The sad thing is that the issues that we tried to address in the film are still with us today. So how much progress have we made?"

The show also featured musical performances by Christina Aguilera, Gnarls Barkley and punk band AFI.

You know it's not the Oscars, right?

So does this mean that when there are threads about Game 1 that I should expect none of the non-watchers to show up? Or will you still plan on talking about a game you didn't actually watch?

i noticed M2 has pretty much stopped playing music too. will mtv create M3 which they will show music on for a couple years, then move their stale programming to it as well? in 50 years we could have cable tv dominated by 30 mtv channels all showing the same . i will watch the game with some of my mav friend fans, hope it's entertaining. if shaq gets the mavs in foul trouble wade could run rampant.

I will be watching game 1. The NBA Playoffs have been infinitely more entertaining this year than in recent years.

Why are so many Spurs fans rooting for the Heat? Aren't we all from Tejas? I know that every year that the Spurs are in the Finals and the Mavs get knocked out, I have always rooted for th Spurs.

I'll watch every minute of every game.

It won't be as fun as watching MJ and the Bulls in the finals, though!

Not me. I watched a couple of the first round games, the refs pissed me off, so I stopped watching anything but Spurs games. Don't know if the refs are doing better or not, but they compeltely turned me off of these playoffs after the first 5 games I watched or so.

I agree. People who aren't watching just because the Spurs lost aren't really basketball fans. It's so immature.
I know as a Spur fan, I am annoyed by the "Now, we have some exciting teams in the Finals" talk. I would like to watch the finals, being that this is the last basketball I get to watch for a couple months (no WNBA for me). But if they keep making back-handed insults against my team, I will probably turn it off. I usually don't pay enough attention anyway to follow the game without the sound.

On a side note, Mav merchandise is finally starting to show up in stores here in Dallas. The local Albertson's had T-shirts and caps. AND I saw a Mavs kiosk set up outside the corner Gas station for the first time.

Meh. If the series turns out to be close and exciting, I might tune into Game 3 or 4 and beyond, but I'm really more of a Spurs fan than a basketball fan. Plus the World Cup is going to be on at the same time, and since there's only so many sporting events I can watch in a day, and the WC only happens every four years, it gets priority.

Bully for you. My favorite team has evolved in the last couple of months. It used to be any team that beat the Lakers...now, it has become any team that beats the Mavericks. I frickin' HATE the Mavericks. I wanna see Avery cry.

How can you hate AJ more than Shaq?

Shaq has pissed on SA, AJ praises and loves this city.

    pache100,

If we do lose, I don't see Avery crying. If we lose, we will try harder next year and not dwell on it like some Spurs fans. There are alot of Spurs fans on here that are really cool, and have positive things to say. I think the others need to take a lesson from them.

Well if you do lose Mav fans should dwell on it because getting back to the finals is no given. You must take advantage of your opportunites. That's why alot of us have had hard time getting over it because we know we let a golden opportunity slip away and it happened to be against the Mavs. If you guys lose there will be many sleepless nights and what ifs.. We are fortunate to win 3 times so for the most part there are no what ifs..

I sort of kind of agree with what you said. I dont lose sleep over the lose, but I do dwell over it though. Like you said its not a given every year, I mean we have yet to repeat. I'll be thinking about this season until july because we'll be able to make offseason moves then.

I don't plan to watch, but if I concede, I will do so at home. I surely don't want to contribute to the Finals economy by going out.
