I am lukewarm about this deal, but the centers in the league are so weak now that is somewhat worth it even though I, unlike a lot of people, actually like Beno. Besides who says even if the teams agree the trade will go through? Hunter still has to pass his physical. What's not to say our doctors won't see the same things in the MRI's and X-Rays that scared off NO's doctors.

You guys realize that Rasho's numbers are better than Hunter's for the same minutes, right?

Yeah I know but we're really dredging the bottom of the barrell for centers here. I am very lukewarm about this deal. Like I posted before this is one of the weakest center eras ever anyway.

yes because beno is so important in the playoffs
    he played so many minutes
well, he couldn't play any minutes since Nick van Bust played with stellar performance.

I just don't know that Hunter can do anything that Mahinmi or Oberto or Javtokas can't do, and I know there isn't a better backup PG available than what we've got.

Actually, it's just that the vocal group of blind Beno haters haven't gotten up yet.

And ducks, my position on the guy hasn't changed. If the Spurs aren't going to play him they should trade him.

I like how if you say trading away Udrih might not be the best idea, you're suddenly the biggest Udrih fan in the world.

Yeah, if you dare to point out that Udrih scored 34 points in a stretch of three games ending with the infamous HOUSTON game where he turned the ball over one fewer time than Manu did, you are the biggest Udrih fan in the world.

My dream would to get AI in a Spurs uniform. Not Allen Iverson. The other AI. I doubt it though. I'm crossing my fingers though.

You're right. Thinking about it now I'm against it but I wouldn't be distraught if it went down like I probably would if some of these other deals did. If his knee does have even a whiff of a problem in our exams like NO said then we should run, not walk away from any deal. He might technically have the athleticism to put on Dirk, but I couldn't even visualize in my dreams him getting anything but abused by Dirk. Of course Dirk could put up 32 a game on him on 57% shooting and wipe his ass with him all over the court and all SH has to do is bother 2 shots in a close game 7 win for the media to talk about his great defense*.

*Any allusions to Disagana Diop are purely intentional.

Here's the other thing: Bowen guards Dirk. Nobody we sign will guard ing Dirk. Saying that we need someone to guard Dirk is incorrect, what we need is someone to allow Bowen to STAY on Dirk. We either need someone that will block shots when Harris and Howard blow into the lane or we need someone that can stand out on the perimeter and actually stay in front of them. Shot blockers are easier to find than superb one on one defenders, and the Spurs probably have enough on their roster already to get them by if this is the way they want to play.

I am not interested in absorbing 4 years of Steven Hunter who is just the same type of player Rasho and Nazr are.
Um, Hunter's game is nothing at all like Rasho's or Nazr's.

Yeah, remove the defense and throw in a chronic knee injury and you've got Hunter.

Yeah but if we go that route then we will get pounded on the boards. I'd rather stay big Dirk is going to get his at least we won't get killed on the boards. Besides Dirk averaged 27.1 ppg on 52.7% fg shooting against us. I mean I love Bruce but asking him to guard somebody 6 inches taller and 30 lbs heavier than him is a little much. That's a whole different topic altogether though and Pop seems dead set on using him to guard Dirk.

Why focus just on what's on Philly's roster? That Philly is interested in Udrih (allegedly) doesn't necessarily mean that a trade would involve a Philly player coming back to SA -- it could very easily be that Beno fits somewhere in a multi-team deal that moves Iverson. If Iverson is actually traded, I'd suspect that deal will have a ton of moving parts to make everything work out. Or, it could be that the Spurs and Sixers might work out a 3-way deal that has Beno going to Philly, but someone from somewhere else coming to San Antonio.

It's now the season for outside-the-box thinking.

Kyle Korver. Doubtful the Sixers let him go but if AI is out then they are blowing up the team. Contract's a little long but he'd give you that automatic shooter from the wing.
