I'm not sure exactly what your point is here. On the one hand, you say that the main consumers of this music are inner city black kids, but on the other, the kids you've been posting pictures of and complaining about are goofy suburban poser kids. Canny rap artists dating back at least to Ice Cube and Dre from NWA cashed in on exaggerated, glamourized stories of gang lifestyles by selling those images to white kids.
I posted the white kids because I think wiggers are hilarious. They are walking, talking jokes. Posting a bunch of black people wouldnt even elicit a smile.

Yeah, the music and style is popular in the inner city (from what I gather -- unlike you, I live a long way from the 'hood and don't see it first hand), but if gangsta music and culture were mainly just an inner-city phenomenon, it wouldn't be splashed all over MTV, etc. It is being pitched to the 'burbs, and a lot of what shapes the style is what will sell there.
I hope youre not trying to paint it like I tried pulling "street cred" on you, because that was not my intention at all. I want this to be very clear.

I am not from the 'hood. Nowhere near. Never lived there, never frequented enough to say I even hung out there on a regular basis.

I have worked in the ghetto though. Real ghetto. Not Menace to Society bull ghetto. Which means I have spent time in and have enough experience with it to draw conclusions.

I dont know where you live and it is of no real consequence. I can only speak for the way the Detroit Metro area is.

Are you familiar with the movie 8Mile? Well, I am not (never seen it). But 8Mile is significant because it is the border between Detroit and Warren. If you stand on 8 mile road, you can literally see the difference between the 2 cities right there. One side is all smallish houses, with moderately kept up yards and appearance. The south side of this 5 lane road is . Fences falling over, discolored from decades fo disservice. Trash sitting in the streets for probably weeks. You get the point.

I live in a very, very nice neighborhood called Washington Township. Grew up in Shelby Township. Anyone from the area will tell you I am from richy-rich, lilly white suburbs (they are right). But then ask those same people about Detroit city. I live only 18 miles away (which is spitting distance in Michigan terms). I drive by or thru the city at least weekly.

Blah...this is getting ridiculous. My point is, in the Metro Area, Detroit is very close. To see what real poverty and ghetto is isnt exactly difficult or far. Everyone, even my fellow lilly-white friends, know what real ghetto is. And everyone of us have at least one story about some scary situation in the middle of Detroit.

Doesnt make me tough (believe me). Doesnt make me better or smarter. But it does give me perspective. I have had (unintentional) dealings with true gangsters. They like rap. Alot. All of them do. I believe that music gives them some sort of validation to their lifestyle in some twisted way.

NWA may have been fake, but their audience was/is not. They finally had a genre that applied to them, that talked about them and theirs. That was significant. I dont choose to be associated with those same people, hiphop/rap or not.

There's a big difference between the guy who spun "Endless Love" at your high school prom and the Invisibl Skratch Piklz.

So, I guess if I consider myself a turntablist, people should assume I don't know how to read sheet music?

Sometimes I wish I could write sheet music for some of my routines on my decks.

I think there is actually plans out there for a universal sheet music for turntablists.

That's what I thought, and all I was getting at. I've never spent any time in anything remotely resembling an inner city neighborhood, and have no first hand experience to speak of. These days, I live in Wyoming -- we don't even have cities. I just wanted to make it clear that what little knowledge I have of what's popular in the inner city is entirely second hand.

Understandable. And I can certainly see why this colors your view of the whole rap music scene. Real street criminals aren't anything to aspire to being -- not when they're black, not when they were italians. My impression is that people who actually had dealings with real mafia gangsters feel the same way about the way the mafia is romanticized.

Cool. Just didnt want this to degrade into personal attacks or whatever. Opinions are like assholes, just dont act like one, right?

Like I said, I am not trying to push you around or even change your (or anyone elses) opinion. Youre probably right though about the mafia. Alot of Italians where I live too, 2 families of which were most definately in the mob (no ing question). Kept to themsleves, just like the Albanians.

Hey, let me say this. If my child could approach the genre like you do, appreciating the intricacies and being inspired by what he/she perceives as musical progression, then I could never complain.

The problem I have, and this is experience talking again, is that far too often in my adolesence I watched kids I grew up with start walking, talking and dressing like they were from south of 8 Mile. It was a laughable joke to me when it started. That was 1993. 13 years later, I stopped laughing.

That was my only point. My experience with rap music and the individuals who listen to it are 95% not good. When your percentile is 95%, its pretty fair to make certain conclusions about the listening audience.

You must fall in the 5% because you argued cogently and objectively. I will stop there.

Makes sense. I don't see any of the inner city stuff first hand, so I don't have any negative associations. I either like music or I don't, and I don't spend much time worrying about who else listens to what and why.

At this point, jazz is probably my favorite genre, but most of what's actually interesting in jazz these days is intertwined with hip hop and electronica -- which gives me a very different vantage point on hip hop than you have.

Anyway, it's been an interesting discussion.

Well according to some people, since I like hip-hop I can't possibly have any musical taste or talent.

FYI: I CAN read sheet music, I've played the violin/viola for over 15 years.

People saying it doesnt take skill to "scratch records" have obviously never tried or never bothered to experience true hip hop.

This is a surprise coming from the guy who doesn't discriminate sharing his bed with virtuallly all mammals.....

Generalizing all hip hop with the crap thats played on the radio is the problem. If you haven't bothered to listen to it, don't bash it. I bashed country all the time, until I was introduced to a few artists by my older sister, now I enjoy a good ol boy tune from time to time. Your horizons must be broadened.

For those of you baggin on hiphop saying it ain't music, I suggest you listen to this masterpiece produced by Dan the Automator

    Deltron 3030
    "3030"

    Yo its three thousand thirty
I want y'all to meet Deltron Zero, hero, not no small feat
It's all heat in this day and age
I rage your grave, anything it takes to save the day
Neuromancer, perfect blend of technology and magic
Use my rappin so you all could see the hazards
Plus entertainment where many are brainless
We cultivated the lost art of study and I brought a buddy
    Automator harder slayer fascinating combinations
    Cyber warlords are activating abominations
Arm a nation with hatred we ain't with that
We high-tech archeologists searching for nicknacks
Composing musical stimpacks that impacts the song
Crack the motor what you think you rappin for?
I used to be a mech soldier but I didn't respect orders
I had to step forward, tell them this ain't for us
Living in a post-apocalyptic world morbid and horrid
The secrets of the past they hoarded
Now we just boarded on a futuristic spacecraft
No mistakes black it's our music we must take back

    Del I'm feeling like a ghost in a s
I wrote this in jail playing host to a cell
For the pure verbal, they said my sentence was equivalent to murder
Kust another hurdle, I bounced through a portal
I knew they had the mindstate of mere mortals
My ears morphed to receptors to catch ya
    Every word about gravity control
and the families they hold for handsome ransoms
On the run with a handgun, blast bioforms; I am warned
that a planet-wise manhunt with cannons
will make me, abandon, my foolish plan of uprisin
    dyin, I hijack a mech
Controllin with my magical chance so battle advance
through centuries of hip-hop legacy, megaspeed
Hyperwarp to Automator's crib and light the torch
    They can't fight the force
Victory is ours once we strike the source
Enterprisin wise men look to the horizon
Thinkin more capitalism is the wisdom
and imprison, all citizens empowered with rhythm
We keep the funk alive by talking with idioms

Isn't eternal evil concerned with thievery
Medieval prehistoric rhetoric well we ahead of that
Lay it down with soundwaves that pound pavement
Original minstrals my central processing unit
is in tune with my heart for this art
Not artificial cause that makes it hard to miss you
Copycats finish last in the human race
Staying glued to safes too prude to take a buddha break
We got espers that let us bless with fresh
Undetected by yes men questing for five fleeting nanoseconds of fame
Protecting the brain from conspiracies against my cosmos
While I float to Neo-Tokyo with Opio
or discuss combusitible rust clusters with Plus
Evade cyber police in a computer crib confuse the kids
but I can make a kickin rhymes thats sacred
Telepathic mind that takes its greatness from the Matrix
Esper rhyme professor rushes in ultra pressures
    with correction measures
Why half the world's a desert
Cannibals eat human brains for dessert
Buried under deap dirt, mobility innert
I insert these codes for the cataclysm
Ever since I had the vision use my magnetism
In this modern metropolis they tries to lock us up
Under preposterous laws thats not for us

Lyrically, Del is tough to top.

    Who fuses the music
    With no illusions
    Producing the blue prints
    Clueless?
Automator - defy the laws of nature
Electronic monolith throw a jam upon the disc
The futuristic looper with the quickness
Hyper-producin' hydrogen fusion liquids keep your distance

First we coerce your brain patterns
    Collaborate with time-consumin' re-programin'
I apply the flow cannon, the combo so slamin
    Automically reconstruct the old canvas
His logic impress, a hypnotic effect
Ya latin patent you could call it a gift
Man he all in the mix nuclear physicist
Geneticlly taylored every bit of this stimulus

Psyonically bionically forget how you feel
Especially formulated the rest of you fornicated
It takes more to make this
    He juggles variables
Unparreled propulsion to carry the load
Nueral surgeon the purest virgin conducting currents
Musical merlin he shines like sterling
Watch the Automator draw laser of a higher intensity
And instantly miss a beat create a symphony

Hey I know now, I know now repeat
    Automator's on the planet earth
and he's gonna stop the war of the worlds
Deltron Zero is here as well take the cut for real
He told y'all evil do'ers he is

"Global controls will have to be imposed
and a world governing body, will be created to enforce them.
    Crises, precipitate change.."

    Secretly.. plotting your demise

    I wanna devise a virus
To bring dire straits to your environment
Crush your corporations with a mild touch
Trash your whole computer system and revert you to papyrus
I want to make a super virus
Strong enough to cause blackouts in every single metropolis
Cause they dont wanna unify us
So it total anarchy and can't nobody stop us

You see late in the evening
ed up on my computer and my mind starts roaming
    I create like a heathen
The first cycles of this virus I can send through a modem
    Infiltration hits your station
No Microsoft or enhanced DOS will impede
    Society thinks thier safe when
Bingo! Hard drive crashes from the rending
A lot of hackers tried viruses before
Vaporize your text like so much white out
I want it where a file replication is a chore
Lights out shut down entire White House
I don't want just a bug that could be corrected
    I'm erecting immaculate design
Break the nation down section by section
Even to the greatest minds it's impossible to find

    I wanna devise a virus
To bring dire straits to your environment
Crush your corporations with a mild touch
Trash your whole computer system and revert you to papyrus

I want to develop a super virus
Better by far than that old Y2K
This is 3030 the time of global unification
    Break right through they.. terminals
Burn 'em all, slaves to silicon
Curupt politicians with leaders and their keywords
    F.B.I and spys stealin bombs
Decipitate their plans in thier face and catch the fever
Everybody loot the stores get your canned goods
Even space stations are having a hard time
Peacekeeepers seek to take our manhood
Which results in the form of global apartheid
Ghettos are trash dumps with gas pumps
Exploding and burnt out since before the great union
The last punks walk around like masked monks
Ready to manipulate the database or break through 'em
Human rights come in a hundreth place
Mass production has always been number one
New Earth has become a repungnant place
So it's time to spread the fear to thunder some

    "Too long have we tried
to extend our glorious empire out to the stars.."
    "Only to be drive back.."

Sifting through your imprints brings me to this
Never let go never give up hope cause thats it
If I let go of hope and fall in the pit of injustice
Its just not right high plane drift into the light
Sharing my thoughts on the spot so there was never no secrets
She was ever clever so decent
    So adequate for my etiquete
So I let it hit the bottom of my head and its
A dead page in a story thats been told so many times in the scroll
That I keep going for control
    Beautified, intensified
Colors hide in the backdrop, who am I to supervise
    Or pitch over the backstop
    Simplified, compromised
Flowin under the lifelines cause you an I is a suicide
I testified in the right lines
A designer outline of your features in my sketchbook
Take a look at my past an answer questions your askin
Fasten seatbelts for the whiplash is massive
Crashin into the brick wall I barricaded my ass in
    Fascinated by beauty
To do ent it to my duty
Artistry come alive in my eyes cause your my moving-
    Picture, pixelating kaleidescope
Highest hopes I could ever match
ilating my mind to cope with any problem that shows his face
No disgrace, no embarassment, never care for opinions in your presence
Your the second half to my essence
    Your life is so intoxicating
To a drunken skinny broken open wide guy
Cause Im siftin through your imprints, it brought me to this
Never let go never give up hope cause thats just it
If I let go of hope and fall in the pit of injustice
Its just not right high plane drift into the light

(It ain't over here it comes again...)

    [Grouch]
Her blowin have me growin, knowin I hit the jackpot
    Silky symmetrical, round juicy sexual
    Too acceptable, smellin like watermelons
Tellin all my friends about her every limb
    Theres no comparison
Her hair in the wind got men sniffin wishin they could be in my position
I paid my dues though, now I move slow along the curb smooth ride
Back up fool you cannot drive
I make my dreams come alive
    Exotic non-narcotics getting me high
    Waterfall visions, covergirl missions
Soundtrack to her would be some smooth Loni Listen (?)
Me Im like a piston but Im not dissin
She holds herself well an I respect that
Listen if theres one thing I know its go for what you do
    I did its all true
    Neglected to way too cool
On the low standards Im a planner you a player what lay
    Let me take (?)

    [Chorus]

    [PSC]
Flew off the scale of one to ten when the skin tone was in
Perfect light, candlelight, or the lamps you can dim
With the twist of a knob, don't claim to be a hearthrob
But I had my fair share of times Ive had to move on
And ask you why you dot a million desks
Most can only dream of the girls that found my rest
Beautiful creatures that stay without the reaches
To live in seclusion they made at the beaches
Exotica eroticas never rock the Nautica
Maybe some Prada and extra cool with nada
Nuthin, but get em naked an flawless
Wake up they look good (?)
And I think back, whens the last time you seen a Legend
Bare with somethin blessed let me help you out never
It may seem callous and shallow forgive me
I meant it, fly girls look like equipment
Top of the line helps the product come tight
Watch we pooled the girls that make the good whites
And life is so bland when youre already the man but you really ain't the man
Now my people understand what Im sayin
Im just layin back no approach
An when I be out with wifey best believe shes the dopest
Or one of the dopest, so many to hold focus
The young crop to make jaws drop then laws broken
Just jokin, statutory thats another story
Hormones an food got youngsters ripe for bonin
    Ownin, oh Mr. Mackin continues
Stars in tight clothes be huntin us at venues
An then proves compe ion ain't friendly
We got the quality, quan ies empty
Loyal untouchable drawers that y'all will never see
But give us a shot at your girl, theyll probably with me

    [Chorus]

    [Scarub]
With beauty comes duty, few see the filthy
Not guilty I had to pass ass
Got me wantin somethin that ain't worthy
Surely I can see through most wannabes watch friends change up
Relationships, es wit at udes come out quick
What you think you got somethin
Not this, Im gettin pissed again
Wished again some bliss'll get no kisses when eternity
Such absurdity I thought words would be the gate to my heart
Burnin me, but Ima stay cool as Sammy Davis an ride this out
But you cant lie this out
It used to be hard just to write this out
But I usually have ta fight this out
    But Ima live this out
Like bein locked up for 30 years
Walk out with a hand of cement tears
Weird ta be out in the car seein the world
Got picked up by a girl an you see the lights pull you over in the rear
Radar clock 90 Im gonna have to see everybody I.D

    "Nothing Less"

    [Grouch]
Well I bet you that I get the last laugh
Bet you that my funerals packed
And the tune you all blast is my crew's
New or old it don't matter
Bold I get swole in the zone where you gather
I'm alone but together with the folks
Not really knowing where I'm going
But my goal's to provoke thoughts
Devote lots, show some fools the ropes to hop
Scope the top from above it
Love it, then leave it alone
I believe that I'm grown showing the way
Owing the bay for going astray, now I'm blowing away
Like that bag in American Beauty
    Truly blessed and nothing less

    [MURS]
I'm nothing less than a criminal
    With minimal convictions
Serving up my customers a hustler of the diction
Crushing my afflictions, I'm sick in the mind
    Depends on how you ask
And I can do anything depending on the task
I tend to be on blast more often than not
Between a rock and a hard place
I soften my spot, talking a lot
That's if my CD's get played
But if that's not the case then I had nothing to say
My crew been tight since we was up in the bay
Been down for a while, now watch us
As we take it, up and away
Something to play when you're laying on back
Felt the love when I wrote this
So I know y'all feel what I'm saying on tracks

    [Chorus] - repeat 3X

    [Slug]
    The first step was birth
Now forever cursed to analyze his self-worth
    The second step was belief
He had to make that move before he even grew teeth
    The third step, respect awareness
He could trip over the next step if he's careless
That next step, number four, was love
Can't touch it without stepping the other three above
As he froze for a moment
    Ignoring the remaining ones
    He was approaching, focus stolen
Looking down at his hands to see what he was holding
    Nothing, empty
No choice but to keep going
The fifth step felt like a misstep
It was a re-evaluation of the first four
The anxiety, fear of what it hurts for
Caught in somewhere between the earths core
    And the first floor
When he finally made it to step six
He could no longer see it for what it is
All of his views and family and life were askew
Number six had been twisted by the previous two
    The last step, the seventh
Was the only thing left that kept him outside of heaven
One last breath and everything could be pleasant
Life through death, man's final lesson

    [Chorus]

    [Sunspot Jonz]
Nothing less, god bless the days I rest
    In this mess called life
Trying to be the best for the best dressed
    Female, but she just brings
In the wishing well, I drown pieces of my soul
    Born to rebel
I'm the black James Dean of the underground
    Yelling at shows
Like rallys in Cali, I blow rhyme under the trees
    Wanabees talk all day
But don't got a tape to play
    Nothing genuine to say
So they bite the next man
Like they gonna make him the best man
In this crusade the future looks black
    Like Taye Diggs' forehead
We can't go ahead and let the whack break our spirit

    [Chorus]

    [Scarub]
I know my expectations are high
But I refuse to lay low
    No compromises only improvising
From what I manifest in the mind
    Even though they say no
I follow through if it's true
You know those type of serious questions
That are asked in a playful manner
    So if assumptions are wrong
They can act like it's a joke?
"What do you do for a living?"
    That's the words they spoke
When they first heard that I wrote to stay alive
    While they work a 9 to 5
I work just as hard as you
    But got a different focus
And while you focus on me I'm gonna be all that I am
All of SIAM, while others run at the mouth
    With nothing to show
I'ma use what I know, manipulating my flow
    From here to there
I origami the situation from what is considered
    Unsuitable to something beautiful
The outcome is legendary, and nothing less

    "Deny"

(this is a chilling tale of the holocaust)

So this is war, more blood poured from the fountain
As I'm counting on the cold hand
Of those that abstain and demand
More ground gained from the crosses that we follow into battle
I swallow in the whole Earth rattle
It was all too real from the moment that I peeled
    My steel cap back
And saw the black knife fade into first light
Some fat balding man had the clever insight
That might makes right so under infrared sight
    We steadily advance
I raised from my crouched stance
As boards marked the time I danced through lines of dead men
Who've been forever left behind and lie with their own kind
But I turn my mind off, desensitizing
I find myself surmising on how I can plant my flag upon the horizon
So glory finds me and I can be
history's first living soul on the beaches of Normandy
And slay me a thousand Germans
Cause revenge is burning hot as pistol shot and I can smell bodies
Rotting on both sides of the divide but the tide of the battle has turned
    The good guys have returned
So we succeed in the beachhead but success is relative
Relatively high numbers of dead blood stained human remains
But the Nazis fled so we advance into France
We meet the underground resistance behind enemy lines, making good distance
At the insistence of our leaders
we follow up on every lead, even a tree can be a trap
But one look at the map showed the Germans were withdrawing
    Citizens were applauding
as they plotted how to pay back the citizen assassins
We started liberating towns to the ticker-tape tirades
Of humans too tired to wage war anymore
It looked like war had but a few months left before we could all rest
And go home to our families

But then we heard rumor of a place
Where an entire human race was taken and laid to waste
A camp where crazed experiments take place
And rows of corpses overflowed mass graves
There were things to be seen and turn you to burn inside
The soldiers were told to see with their own eyes
So I went to see it so I could explain without laying blame
History's made a name of stories so I will call it as I see it
I see fit to record it so the truth cannot be distorted
But I must warn you, truth is cold
Souls stolen from right under the skin
A prison where inmates' fate was wrapped and lay
The feat past the gates and doctors decided
Whether you were pesticide-ed or provided with a tattoo used to ID you
When death from exposure overcame you

So I walked past the gates and saw plain brick buildings
And then the real world faded
"I hated every breath:" the words to express what I saw when Auschwitz fell
    A living , you couldn't tell
The living dead from the skeletons enveloped in this valley of death
The stink of charred flesh made my breath catch
    We couldn't match the millions
of dead civilians to what we had believed to be humans
"How could this happen?" I asked my captain and for a moment
This proponent of atonement just shook his head
Cause it was best left unsaid
But being Jewish on the other side of the divide meant I knew my history
Without having to face its wrath
The path of six million goes way beyond the math

*I can't understand the way you feel*

See Poland fell first and Jews were the first to feel it
Herded into units by perverted Germans who used their loose liberties
To sexually abuse and misuse in full view of the camera
But it never made the news
Cause most Poles agreed that all Jews were infected
    They infested every stock-invested bank
And every government think-tank had at least a Jew or two
So who am I to play the fall guy?
When I cast my eye on the neighbor's grass
where it's truly greener on the other side
I must confide that I hate Jews just about as much as the Germans do
So when the burning smoke chokes out the air and all I smell is burning hair
I'll turn a blind eye and comply
With every single lie that you make us recite so we won't ask any questions
    I'm just an average citizen
See many Europeans felt that Jews were just pollution
A problem finally solved by the Final Solution
Where Communists, Jews, gypsies, and handicapped s
All became the target of irrational fears
fed by the flames of state-sponsored propaganda
And that's when one man began to expand
his theories of inferiority and spread it like a virus
So Jews were enclosed in ghettoes completely frozen from contact
Beyond that flat where fifteen people slept back to back
Where liberty and property were stolen
On the grounds that Jews were the chosen scapegoats
So oats were torn and the horns sounded
As the hatred rose from town to town the world was astounded
That the Nazis would treat some citizens so ruthless
But without do ented proof the accusations were toothless
And since the persecuted were Jewish
The world watched and did nothing
See hate was fanned into obsession
Obsessed by the extermination of a nation founded by religion
So a nation created in fear and xenophobia
proceeded to eliminate sanction by the state
But bullets were too expensive and didn't kill fast enough
Plus the mass graves made it hard to deny
the use of slaves digging their own graves
So science was used and compounds were created
to make the killing less anticipated and more efficient
A pesticide called Zyklon B was used
to see hundreds of strangers into the gas chambers
Which they were told were the showers
The children, women, and elderly must have been smelly
Cause immediately upon entry they were all sent to the showers
So the world watched and somebody had to know
That six million Jews went to camp and just didn't come home

As I stare down the tracks
where trains packed humans in cattle cars behind steel bars
The motto of this camp attracts my eye, it says: "Arbeit Macht Frei"
Meaning "Work will make you free" but all those who died inside
    Probably never saw the irony
This place had an evil feeling as we roamed building to building
Sights before my eyes, each one the less appealing
A room piled to the ceiling with gold filling teeth
The next filled with shaved human hair
Soon to become some German chair and plush sofa
Suffocating stench as I clench my teeth, for what I reached next:
I saw ten huge chimneys burning gas, Jews to ashes
A whole section dedicated to storing glasses
confiscated from the dead for resale
I felt frail and had to leave this or be consumed by its spell

I've long since left but I consider it my duty
To bring this tragedy to the attention of a country
Who pats itself on the back for helping in the occupation
And bring freedom to a federation of the oppressed
    but Canada must be undressed
Its dirty laundry put to rest
Our country frowned on the slaughter, perpetrated
A crime so anti-human we were all left exasperated but it faded over time
And if you think Denmark smelled rotten soon our feelings weren't forgotten
But I will never forget that this nation did nothing
And when our government feigned sadness they must have been bluffing
Cause before and during the war all the way into the fifties
Canada's immigration policy was just as clear as any:
One Jew is one Jew too many
So how can we condemn when we had a chance
To open up our arms and give our home to the survivors?
Instead we gave the red carpet to ex-Nazi storm riders
Whose record checks seemed to have been forgotten
at the border in the disorder
Why do you think we still keep finding out
the Nazis are our neighbors fifty years later?
Ask me if I think we should've done more
It's all said and done with now so what the for?

My task and all I ask is that you never forget
Cause those who forget: history will repeat it
The Nazis were defeated yet the lies live on and spawn
In the ignorance of those whose motives reap it
And claim death counts were made up as if we needed to exaggerate
But I saw how hate could make right-thinking people deviate
When they create excuses for the nooses and reasons for the bleeding
But nothing made as much sense as "Seeing is believing"
    I can't stop crying
    This isn't human
    Only illusion, but I'm trying
    What I saw will defy
    Too many dead to identify
Cities disappear and whole families die
So when you deny, spreading lies my mind burns with the pictures left behind
Please look inside my eye and tell six million Earth citizens why
All I want to know is how the can you deny?
How the can you deny? How the can you deny?
    How the can you deny...

hard to top this verse by inspecta deck on triumph:

    I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies
and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these
    mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery
Flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me
Battle-scarred shogun, explosion when my pen hits
    tremendous, ultra-violet shine blind forensics
I inspect you, through the future see millenium
Killa B's sold fifty gold sixty platinum
Shacklin the masses with drastic rap tactics
Graphic displays melt the steel like blacksmiths
Black Wu jackets queen B's ease the guns in
Rumble with patrolmen, tear gas laced the function
Heads by the score take flight incite a war
Chicks hit the floor, diehard fans demand more
Behold the bold soldier, control the globe slowly
Proceeds to blow swingin swords like Shinobi
Stomp grounds and pound footprints in solid rock
Wu got it locked, performin live on your hottest block

Can't find the lyrics anywhere and too lazy to type out, but here's the opening rhyme:

    I granted my neighborhood immunity,
during the Rodney King riots where z burnt down and looted their community,
instead I pulled bricks from the walls of my imagination
and threw them out the window of opportunity

here is another of my favorites, especially ghostface's verse - 4thchamber by the gza:

Choose the sword, and you will join me
Choose the ball, and you join your mother... in death
You don't understand my words, but you must choose
    *baby gurgling*
So... come boy, choose life or death

    Verse One: Ghostface Killah

The only man I hold wake for
Is the sky-blue Bally kid, in eighty-three, rocked Taylor's
My Memorex performed tape decks, my own phone sex
Watch out for Haiti es, I heard they throw hex
Yo, Wu whole platoon is filled with rac-coons
Corner sittin wine z sippin Apple Boone, this ain't no white cartoon
Cuz I be duckin crazy spades
The kid hold white , like blacks rock ashy legs
Why is the sky blue? Why is water wet?
Why did Judas rat to Romans while Jesus slept? Stand up
You're out of luck like two dogs stuck

Iron Man be sippin rum, out of Stanley Cups, unflammable
Noriega, aimin knives which stay windy in Chicago
    spine-tingle, mind boggles
Kangols in rainbow colors, promoters try to hold dough
Give me mine before Po, wrap you up in so-and-so
I ran the Dark Ages, Constantine and great Henry the Eighth
Built with Ghengis Khan, the wreck suede wiley Don

    Verse Two: Killah Priest

I judge wisely, as if nothin ever surprise me
Loungin, between two pillars of ivory
I'm lively, my dome piece, is like buildin stones in Greece
my poems are deep from ancient thrones I speak
I'm overwhelmed, as my mind, roams the realm
My eye's the vision, memory is the film
Others act sub-tile, but they fragile above clouds
They act wild and couldn't budge a crowd
No matter how loud they get, though they growl and spit
Clutch they fists, and throw up signs like a Crip
And throw all types of fits
I leave em split, like ass cheeks and ragged pussy lips

    Verse Three: The RZA

Aiyyo, camoflouge chameleon, ninjas scalin your buildin
No time to grab the gun they already got your wife and children
A hit was sent, from the President, to rage your residence
Because you had secret evidence, and do ents
On how they raped the continents, and it's the prominent
    dominant Islamic, Asiatic black hebrew
The year two thousand and two, the battle's filled with the Wu
Six million devils just died from the Bubonic Flu
Or the Ebola Virus, under the reign of King Cyrus
You can see the weakness of a man right through his iris
Un-loyal snakes get thrown in boilin lakes
of hot oil, it boils your skin, chickenheads gettin slim
like Olive Oyl, only plant the seed deep inside fertile soil
Fortified with essential, vitamin and mineral
use the sky for a blanket, stuffin clouds inside my pillow
Rollin with the Lands, the tribe's a hundred and forty four thousand chosen
    Protons Electrons Always Cause Explosions

    Verse Four: The Genius/GZA (Maximillion)

The banks of G, all CREAM downs a vet
Money feed good, opposites off the set
It ain't hard to see, my seeds need God-degree
I got mouths to feed, unnecessary beef is more cows to breed
I'm on some tax free by any means
Whether bound to hit scheme or some counterfeit CREAM
I learned much from such with cons who run scams
Veterans got the game ed like hams
And from that, sons are born and guns are drawn
Clips are fully loaded, and then blood floods the lawn
Disciplinary action was a fraction of strength
that made me truncate the limp on temp
with the stump, treat his hips like air pumps
RZA shaped the track, z caught razor bumps
Scarred tryin to figure who invented
    this unprecented, opium-scented, dark-tinted
Now watch me blow him out his shoes without clues
Cuz I won't hesitate to detonate, I'm short fuse
