I bought my daughter a few pairs that say "SOFTBALL" on the rear ... they're cute, but definitely too short for school. She wore them once and I ended up having to leave work to bring her some pants.

And on another note ... I had made my daughter try on one of those little navy pleated skirts (in the standard uniform section) ... and weirdly enough, that actually looked too sexy. Fortunately she didn't like it, because no way I would have bought it. It was waaaaay to Catholic school girlish.

My little cousin (she's 15, not so little, but eh) is horrible about this stuff - and my Aunt & Uncle don't care ... And I talk to her about it and she says that guys always come after her thinking because of how she dresses she'll put out. So thustly, I told her to quit dressing like that and she said that she likes being a tease ... WTF? The her and her friends wear is so damn ridiculous, and should be illegal cause I feel like such a perv looking at them thinking - I saw a girl at the bar the other night wearing that ...

Oh, and I am totally with SW on this one...I swear every single pair of clothing you buy these days is "Low rise" and shows your ass crack when you sit down...I think that's more insulting/distracting than cleavage.

Sounds like another lame attempt to legislate morality which I am vehemently opposed to. Teaching morality is not the primary mission of public schools, education is. Parents need to take a more active interest in what their kids are wearing. Children respect their parent's guidelines much more than any school administrator's...or at least they should.

Tlong, I remember there was this girl in my Econ class last semester...and she wore those kinds of low rise jeans every single day to class...and not only did I see her Butt crack every class...I also saw what color thong she was wearing. I swear every single guy sitting around me never paid attention to a word my professor said

I had picked a pair of pants off the rack and held it up to look at them, and I guess I said out loud what I was thinking in my head ...

"Where the is the rest of the ass on these jeans?"

... because several other mothers standing around me busted out laughing in agreement, and my daughter looked like she was going to die from embarrassment.

"I can't believe you said that, Mother."

I just told her to wait, it gets better....so she ran off to the dressing rooms to try some more stuff on.

My dad worked at a high school for the last 25 years and he has always said that it was the dress code violations that drove him up the wall the worst because they were probably the simplest damn rules to follow and they aren't the sort of thing you can accidentally violate.

I think what needs to happen is these young ladies need someone to set them straight on a few points:
    1. No matter how much of a you look like, the boys that you attract will only be thinking of much better looking s while they have sex with you, so there's no need to go all out like that.
    2. Having sex is what will make you popular, not just dressing sexy. The way that rumor mills work what you are wearing doesn't matter once the word gets around that you put out. And if you aren't willing to put out then you really shouldn't dress like a tramp, because if you get a rep as a tease then the boys won't even bother looking. Which girl do you think a boy is more likely to go after when his buddy points her out across the cafeteria, the one he points at and says, "Dude I can totally see her bra!" or "Dude, see that chick in the mumu? She does anal."
    3. Stop going through puberty! If there weren't all these damn boobies swinging around all the time this wouldn't be an issue. The simplest solution to all of this is that second that little Suzie tells her parents that she just had her first period they get her ass training for a marathon. That's an ounce of prevention right there.

Your entire argument went unnoticed based on the hilarity of that line alone.

Well for a man who worked with teens for 25 years he obviously never spent any time shopping for them! The availability of decent, affordable, yet fashionable clothes for young girls is very scarce. Trying to find something for your daughter that follows whatever dress code your school requires that particular year, along with helping them feel as if they fit in and taking in to consideration there constantly changing body style at those ages is a juggling act. You can buy them a t shirt that is loose and comes down to their hips in August and by October it's tight and showing skin below their belly button.
The rules can be accidentally violated. When you are used to wearing something every day you don't tend to notice the gradual changes in fit until one day someone points it out and then you get pissed because you've been wearing it for months and nobody complained.

I think calling girls that age s for how they dress is not very positive way to get them to adjust their style of dress.

Maybe the school districts should get with the retailers in the area and find a way to sell clothing that is appropriate for the school dress codes. When the schools don't allow spaghetti straps or tank tops but seems to be all they sell, it's pretty damn hard to shop for your child. Have you tried to force a 14 year-old in to an outfit they didn't want to wear 5 days a week for 10 months a year and still live to tell about it?

    so what happened first?

Did the demand for such clothes grow first or did Celebs and designers enforced that kind of style on their clothes on buyers?
