Back in May the TUF reality show on e was up against game 6 of the Suns/Clips playoff game on TNT...TUF had higher ratings. That's the REALITY show...not the FREE Ultimate Fight Night shows...
MLS and WNBA ratings were never in the picture...never a target for them to shoot at...

In one demographic it got higher ratings. Sure you understand that overall, it did not have a higher rating. The article even fails to say what the rating was for the NBA game. In fact, the rating was an overall, respectable 1.9, averaged 1.7+. The Playoffs had overall one of its worst ratings recently (altho up .5 from the year prior) and averaged a 3.8 without the Finals. The Finals averaged an 8.5. And according to NBA.com "TNT's ratings for the 2006 NBA playoffs are up 14 percent from last year; ESPN is up 22 percent."
Martha Stewart could win women 50-65 over an NBA game, but it doesn't make it more watched overall.
So beating an NBA playoff game on ESPN in the target demo is meaningless??
I'm not saying it's the next big thing for EVERYBODY, but you trying to compare it to MLS and WNBA is a joke...
Bottom line...you don't know anything about the sport or how successful it's become. There is NO POINT in you posting in MMA threads...
I'm sure MLS ratings are great in Hispanic homes and WNBA in Lesbian homes, but they won't save those leagues, either. You have to go BEYOND your target audience. NASCAR is for rednecks, but they found an audience beyond Dixie and are now bigger than NHL and are the biggest spectator sport in America.

There's a reason that other channels have MMA (or combat sports in general) related shows now. The Ultimate Fighter has been a huge success...
