Defense led the team to victory. Doubling the ball was a great strategy, but the effort on D was inspiring. Horry even got a major block inside on a Padgett layup that led to a score by Manu at the other end.
I'm sure you'll look sharp sporting the famous #43 of the Silver and Black.

I really am quite fed up with all these people dishing every player in the team. I feel that Horry is very valuable. His experience especially in the playoffs is crucial not only in terms of making the big shot in the playoffs but also act as a mentor to the younger players or inexperienced players. Bonner and Butler could learn a lot from Horry.
Spurs have always liked Horry like players. Remember Mario Elie? Steve Kerr? Danny Ferry? AJ? These were guys who werent superstars but survived the NBA with a limited skill set. They had one important thing the Spurs wanted. Experience especially playoff experience. That winning mentality. That smart basketball brain. Spurs will continue to recruit these players. All those players have gone on to become either coaches, front office staff or TV pundits.
The problem is at Horry age and skill set, he is asked to do a lot of things that he can't, or shouldn't be asked to do. At this stage in his career he should be a guy off the bench to sit in the corner and spot up and hit three's. But unfortunately, and its really the Spurs fault, he is still playing a lot of "tough" minutes. Whether its guarding big man down low in the block or whatever. Those days are over...and this year more than last, he looks a bit slower...and next year is going to be even worse. Its the position he's been put in that really affects his play.
So now two overtime periods are added onto the game automatically and all stats factored in afterwards.
Just wondering........
Yeah his great performance in last years playoffs was legendary.![]()
My bad, Typo Police![]()
I kind of disagree with the premise that he's only a playoff guy. If he was only a playoff guy, then Pop would de-activate him and develop guys like Bonner, Butler, and White while he sits. Apparently Pop thinks enough of Horry to play him reserve role minutes because he feels he can contribute more than those other players.
This quote does worry me though, for a guy to be named Big Shot Rob to be struggling from the field. I've always thought he was an underrated player in other aspects of the game, but when he's struggling at doing what he's known for, it doesn't bode well. We'll see though, it's just the beginning of a long season.
Horry is a Spur, and being such, he only shows up every other year for the championship...this is that year.
I felt a little sorry for Robert when he stole the ball and then drove alone to the basket for a dunk. oh , poor Robert, is he going to make it or get overtaken and clobbered from behind by some young Houston stud?
I yelled like Forest Gump's girlfriend: "Run, Robert, run"
Those old legs just don't have much spring left.
Robert had a great game, esp from him, and esp in mid-November. Yeah, "it's a job", but it can be fun, even before March.
Poor Rob, that flailing hamstring pull was priceless. But like a champ, he came back in and contributed. It was a good performance last night.
