I hadn't thought of that- thank you.![]()
Maybe try Carmax?
I hadn't thought of that- thank you.![]()
You weren't drinking and driving again, were you, angel?
Hope you're feeling better.
Little word to the wise, if you buy your car out in Boerne you only have to pay county taxes, that's why they built a Mercede dealership out there.
A question for all of you who have been in a car accident... how long did it take you to get back to normal?
My accident was a week ago tonight. I haven't been sore except for immediately in my left leg and foot and later in my right shoulder, both of which advil took care of.
I was terrified to get back behind the wheel. I was supposed to get my rental on Monday but I couldn't bring myself to until Wednesday.
Iam not afraid to drive anymore, just very aware of everyone around me. I leave a lot of space between me and the car ahead.
I won't turn right on red even when it is allowed. That is sort of stupid, considering I was hit going through my green light but there it is.
Another thing, I won't change the radio station while in motion and turn my cell phone pff if I am going to be in the car.
The biggest issue I am having is emotionally I am still not at all myself. I've cried about something every day since my accident, which is not like me.
Yesterday I finally and I think wisely removed myself from the new car buying process. My mom wanted to include me but I was completely, unintentionally hindering the process.
My brain is just not working right.
Seriously one of the Spurs could come up and hand me the keys to a car and I would still likely have doubts about whether I wanted the video.
It is that bad guys. It's awful.
It was weird. Yesterday I went and collected my things from my Saturn so they could total it.
I don't know if it was the lack of broken glass everywhere and steam but my car didn't look nearly as awful as I remembered it.
I almost felt silly for feeling so traumitised about it- like what I remember from that night couldn't possibly have happened.
Anyway, I was just wondering for those who've been in one what is was like the week after your accident.
In better news, my mom thinks she has found me a silver, standard PT Cruiser.
It'll take some time to get back on your driving feet again. Glad you're turning off the cell phone, but you have my permission to change radio stations while in motion. Please turn right on red, too. Were you doing any of that stuff when they hit you? Didn't think so...
About getting a PT Cruiser? Check the crash ratings. When they first came out, I think they got a D or an F. Edmunds dot com and Consumer reports should have some automotive ratings.
Thank you.
I will tell my mom what you mentioned about the Cruiser safety thing.
Hopefully she doesn't think I am sabotoging her efforts to help me. She was so excited about having found the car for me.
I tried to talk her out of it over price. Apparently ( an very possibly) I am too stressed and out of it to realize what a great deal she made.
It is a 2003 ( I think) and she is getting it for $8,000. I think that is what she told me.
For a 2003 PT Cruiser:
$8,000 is a good price, even for a base model.
Crash ratings are as follows:
NHTSA:
Passenger: Good
Driver: Good
Side Impact Front: Good
Side Impact Rear: Excellent
Rollover Rating: Good
IIHS:
Crash Offset: Not Tested
Bumper Bash: Not Tested
You should see if you can find a used Camry, Corolla, or Accord Angel. Those are good dependable second hand cars![]()
Also, if you buy from a private dealer (like go online and search for used cars on sale near you) and just make sure you take a mechanic there with you so he can check it out for you.
The Cruiser failed the inspection so we are not getting it. I am so relieved because I worried about my mom spending that much money. I know it isn't a lot but she is on a missionary's income and all I can afford at this point in my life is to pay my own bills.
I worry about mom always having everything she needs, you know.
A nasty car accident is as valid a trauma as any, and while you may not be experiencing PTSD per se, it couldn't hurt to check into some resources. Not necessarily counseling (unless you think that would make you feel a lot better - I know some people who have said that counseling helped them speed-recover through things like this), but some breathing and relaxation exercises are pretty useful.
Thank you Stout. And thank you Parks!
I think a visit from a certain Philly personality would cheer me up considerably.![]()
the law allows you 2 years to file a claim against the other insurance company as well as yours. You may just as well get you a lawyer because the insurance companies WILL drag their ass. does not matter how nice your people are, they will put you off as long as they can........
Thanks Jekka. I missed your post at first. I tried the breathing exercises you suggested and they have been very helpful.
I will keep your advice in mind to Bend.![]()
I have a new car.
It is a white 2002 Nissan Xterra. I like it.![]()
Congrats.
Is this it?
Congrats!
Yay! And drive safely!
Yes... that's it.![]()
Thanks all. It is a way nicer car than I ever expected to own.

As I drove it off the lot, my first thought was... I can fit Sho in it, which would have been an issue with my Saturn.
