DJ is a tough point guard, and I think he'll be as good as TJ by the time he leaves. Teams seem to have figured him out here at the end of the year and Barnes didn't exactly do much in the x's and o's department to help him out.
You are such a .

hahaha
i was reading some old article on that final 4 team, by the way ags when was your last final four team?. anyway the talent on that team was ridiculous. ivey, ford, thomas, mouton and of course the ever venerable klotz. of course buckman was there as well as some chode names bod er.
1. you can't cover up that idiotic post with a poor attempt at distraction
2. t.u. has had some good teams...great. SC still beat t.u. down and both my teams are in the Sweet 16...with very good odds that at least one of them moves on

Abrams and Augustine will be better than Royal Ivey by the time they graduate, and will be just as good as TJ. These guys are freshmen....give em a break. Jeeeeeez.
And I dont even like UT ..............![]()
most of those were started by -bag aggies such as jgw. what happened yesterday was appaling and made me nauseous but there is no reason to say that texas is overrated although the loss gives mr. tee-shirt fan something to crow about.
Abrams is a sop re. Not just poor performances, but poor coaching by Barnes, in my opinion... he tried to run the same play over and over again and it was obvious USC could stop it... Durant wasn't himself though.
And Texas has a terrible press, USC broke it almost every time with ease.
In other words, Aggies for dominant.
Secondly, I'm going to go quote myself from previous threads: "ACC and Big 10 are overrated... why did they get so many bids?" and "Pac-10 is better than you think - I think Pac-10 and Big 12 will have more teams getting into the Sweet 16 than those east coast crap teams."
Final tally: 1 Big 10 team in Sweet 16 (Ohio State - barely); 1 ACC team (UNC); 2 Big 12 teams (TAMU, Kansas... I thought Texas would be in there too); 3 Pac-10 teams (USC, Oregon, and UCLA).
I'm going to assume that next year, though, the selection committee will still give those "power conferences" a lot of bids.
Pac-10 has three left.
UCLA
USC
Oregon
Pac-10 POWER!
.........Thanks, but REGARDLESS.......he will be better than Royal Ivey upon graduation (if he stays 4yrs) and Augustine will be better also. JMHO
no, he will not. abrams has the handles of a 8 year-old girl and even that may be too kind. that guy ruins offensive sets and is unable to create any offense for himself. he's completely reliant on augustine's passes to get any kind of wide-open jumper (the only kind he can make, which i will admit he makes wil alarmingly regularity, but only when wide open). i could go on and on about ivey and my man crush for him mouton, bod er and thomas. those guys are the foundation of the texas program and everything that barnes has built here. i would rather have half an ivey than 5 abrams.
You would lose alot of games thats for sure.
what you're saying is you will be happy with your teams making the sweet 16 and losing, because getting there is important. i thought the goal was the le. sweet 16 streaks are for schools like gonzaga.
true, but that half-ivey could play infinitlely better defense than the entire UT team this season.
AJ Abrams scoring average is about 6pts a game higher as a sop re than Royal Iveys best year ever as a longhorn.
Sorry, but I would take Abrams any day over Ivey.
ivey played both ends of the court.
exactly. and he scored in the flow of the offense. he didn't jack up a three or a runner that had no chance of going in just because he felt he needed to shoot. i'll admit, when abrams is on fire he's deadly, but those times are few and far between. dude is responsible for way too many turnovers and bad offensive sets.
Slice it any way you want........Abrams is the better player.....he does more with his minutes......at least IMHO.
The only reason everyone is trashing UTs players NOW is because they got knocked out of the tournament. Where were the haters last week??
Bottom line.....this years UT team even with all the freshman would still OWN the Brad Buckman, Ivey led teams a few years back.
Everyone has a bad game or a bad matchup......thats all that happened to UT.
Abrams and Augustine are good players and they will be back.
PS. The only thing I see that hurts Abrams is his size.
i just think ivey would defer to someone like durant a little more instead of jacking up bad shots. don't you think UT would have been more successful getting durant more touches? this is also a coaching issue, but they should have run 90% of their sets through him.
bingo..
as much as i detest some of rick barnes' coaching moves, it's impossible to run offensive sets through a guy who defers to his teammates most of the time. durant needs to demand the ball more and get it out of augustine's hands. he just isn't that aggressive in trying to score and settles for a lot of jumpshots (although most of those jumpshots go in so it's hard for me to fault him there).
Just When You Thought Your Day Couldn't Get Worse
It was a bad enough day yesterday for Texas fans, what with the whole "last time we're gonna see Durant" business. But for this sad Longhorns fan (note the hat), the day was just going to get worse. The guy who took this picture notes that this happened about half an hour after Texas' loss.
i'm not trashing abrams...
i just feel that he ruins a lot of what texas tries to do offensively and he's an afterthought on the defensive end. i like the guy, but he can do a lot better.
i would have to disagree with you on the ivey, bod er, mouton, thomas crew losing to this years team. too much experience, ivey can limit durant, no one to stop mouton, thomas would kill james and whitey on the inside. that was a mean, defensive team who played extremely well together.
he can defer, that's fine. he still needs to touch the ball. i'm flabbergasted when they go 3-4 series in a row without him getting touches.
I coach basketball....but on a much lower level. We had a game this weekend where one player on the other team had 19 of their 21 pts. by halftime and our team was down by 11pts. After halftime we made an adjustment on defense......we had one guy cloak this single player.....the rest of the team played zone. We held that player to 4pts after halftime......we won by 3pts.
Its hard for one guy to control the entire game more often than not.
Abrams and Augustine just had a BAD game.....thats all there is to it.
Durant would have needed 50pts to be in the game......I dont think USC would have let him do that anyhow.
JMHO.
