I have come to know about so many great Argentinian sportsmen: Kempes, Maradona, Ginobili, and the latest is Oberto!
Perhaps the biggest compliment to Fab was the he was on the floor in crunch time of a finals game with the score very close, over a certain clutch backup power forward with 7 rings... and he kicked ass!

podium of argentinas sportmen of all times:
1. Diego Armando Maradona (worlds best soccer player ever)
2. Guillermo Vilas (62 atp les, 4 grand slams)
3. Emanuel David Ginobili (you know..)
Vilas is sort of an idiot
Absolutely played out of his skin. Super effort and really complemented TD.
Yes Tim! I'm FABulous!!![]()
For Fab!![]()
Great 4th quarter. Great playoffs. Go Fab Go!
Angel Cabrera won the U.S. Open yesterday; Tiger took 2nd.![]()
Sorry I forgot to quote above!!
Actually.. #1 should go to the best F1 racer of all time (yes, including Schummacher) Juan Manuel Fangio, not only a great driver, also an awesome person.
I told you guys, he is a keeper. He impressed me with his game since the world championships in indiana, 2002, I think. He never asks for the ball, he doesnt need to have a play set up for him to contribute. He justs lets everybody play their game and he cleans up their mess. No maintenance teammate.
Argentinian Junk Yard Dawg.![]()
Is there any more info on weather he is going to opt out? And does he have until the 25 or the 1st to opt out?
25th
It seems that he won't opt out :

Can someone who speaks spanish confirm that he is saying that he won't opt out ?
Great news if so. If Finley follows then the Spurs could come out ahead in free agency.
I would love to see Oberto come back...
He isn't saying that he definitely won't opt out. He said that he has a contract with San Antonio for next year, and his desire is to play it out.
Looks like he definitely wants to stay
Oberto deadline for picking his option should be today.
another article hinted that Oberto won't opt out :

I wouldn't be surprised to see tonigh or tomarrow a Ludden article saying that Oberto hasn't opted out.Fabricio Oberto confirmaron su continuidad en San Antonio Spurs
Today? I thought it was going to be 25th?
He is staying,I watched him on the news a couple days ago saying how much He loves S.A. and all that.I dont think He is opting out.
In the CBA, it's written prior to the 25th.
The 23rd and 24th aren't working days.
Oberto would be doing the Spurs a favor if he doesn't opt out. He couldn't demand a huge amount of money, but someone would be willing to offer a multi-year deal. A team like Phoenix or Dallas would do so just to get him away from the Spurs.
now it would be cold to trade him
why not?the Mavs need a smart big man, lets give him to them for Dampier.![]()
