Don't forget winning the Super Bowl.
Technically the Cowboys play in Irving, NOT Dallas, right? And isn't the new stadium in Arlington?

I've been meaning to ask this:

Spurs fans living in SA, let's say the Spurs moved to another city, Minneapolis for example. Would you still root for the Spurs?
I actually know how this feels. I was born in Montreal and grew up an Expos fan (sad, huh?). I have a soft spot for the Nationals, but it's just not the same.

I don't see what the point of that is. The Cowboys started out in Dallas and Irving as well as arlington is in the Dallas Metro. But yes, the new stadium is in Arlington.

I've noticed that Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio are aparantly all on different planets of something. And there is plenty of smack between the three cities. I WANT to say that it's friendly ribbing, but I don't know at times.
There is smack between the three cities. But don't take this the wrong way because I love all of Texas (except that hole of Waco). Dallas and Houston are the one that rivals in Texas because they are the same size and compete for the same things. Both look down at San Antonio as the red headed step child that is 3 times smaller than them. City Limits do not matter because City outgrow it's boundaries. City Limits are worthless because different states have different rules on what city limits are.

For whatever it's worth, people up here in beautiful, green Maryland say this about San Antonio, "Oh I see by your license plate that you are a San Antonio Spurs fan. It is such a Beautiful city. We love going there."

So, what does Dallas have to offer its visitors? If you'll tell me, I'll spread the word up here.

Oh no problem. I have no problem with San Antonio. It's much different than Dallas. The old saying is that every Texan has two homes. His own and San Antonio's.

For whatever it's worth, people up here in beautiful, green Maryland say this about San Antonio, "Oh I see by your license plate that you are a San Antonio Spurs fan. It is such a Beautiful city. We love going there."
Well here is what you will get from that same area.
"Oh, I see by your license plate that you are a Dallas Cowboys fan. I in hate the Cowboys. Because of that, I hate your city." I should know. I live in Alexandria, Virginia now. I love being a Cowboy fan up here.

Yeah, and San Antonians feel that Houston and Dallas are pretty arrogant in that regard, and that the smaller size fits them fine (which it does IMHO). The thing is that as the city grows and becomes more cosmopolitain, the natives all go beserk about the changes (the toll road debate for example). It's fickle when you boil it all down, but I HOPE it's all in fun.

Why would people visit Dallas? What is there is to see there? Does not seem like a tourist hot spot at all to me.
There's actually some pretty nifty museums, and of course the best high end shopping spots in Texas (if your into to either of those). Other than that, I've found Dallas to be rather "meh".

It's the tourists fault. The restaurants won't let them use their bathrooms unless they buy something. That can set you back $20. Some people can't justify spending that much on !
ign tourists need to keep thier out of our !
I used to live in Montana: fleecing the tourists is an honorable endeavor

Love or hate Dallas...that's pretty funny.

I've never liked Dallas too much myself. Too much asphalt. It's a place to work and shop. But, city has no Soul, imho.

San Antonio? Well... Lived here for 35 years. Finally gotten to the point, where I want to leave. Everything North of 1604, might as well be Dallas. Everything South of 1604, is under construction.

New Braunfels, San Marcus, Wimberly, Comfort, Bandera, Fredericksburg...seem to suit me better these days.

Must be that "getting older" thing, but SA is becoming annoying.

    'cept for the Spurs

I don't know about you, but I can't think of New Braunfels or San Marcos without thinking "Construction" thanks to what, 20 years of construction on that stretch of I-35. I got caught in that at about midnight once and it took me 2 hours to get through San Marcos because they had it down to 1 lane each way.

I think I'd hate to live in Fredricksburg, but Wimberly is a very cool place (my grandpa lived there before he died).

And I'm still annoyed that they paved over the horse pasture at I-10 & Vance Jackson and put up a Walmart!

I don't remember a time when I-35 around New Braunfels was NOT under construction. From when I was in High School in the 70's, it seems to have always been being worked on.

, they built the Hoover Dam, one of the wonders of the world, in 3 years. They built most of the US interstate freeway system during the decade of the 50's. And they've been working on I-35 around New Braunfels... for 30 years.

    Talk about Job Security.

San Antonio is not the most attractive city especially with that stinky river. So you are going to the finals. You still have to live there!
San Antonio river needs add'l $1m donation from Cuban to be "stinky"-free.

How many of us actually live by 'that stinky river'?
I do! I live in the Maverick Apts. which is 1/2 block from the Riverwalk. I used to live in Arlington, Tx. before moving to S.A.. I love living here. Dallas has no soul. San Antonio is a beautiful city.

Uh yes. You've heard of the Cotton bowl, correct? That's where they played from 1960-1970. That's why they talked about the Cowboys coming back home to Fair Park.
