It wont happen. Maybe Rua-Liddell, or Silva-Liddell but Rampage won't have the belt when its Chuck's turn. Let me ask you this. How do you sell a Silva-Jackson fight when Wandy has already crushed rampage twice?
Simple he just beat the guy that beat Wandy and he has beat Chuck again. You could easily sell that Rampage is better now than he has ever been, which i think he is and will beat Wandy now.

Who do you give CC next? Loser of Sylvia-Vera, maybe Arlovski? Or someone like Jake O'Brien or Heath Herring?

I don't know about that one. He looked awful tonight in every way. He really needs to fight a scrub and KO him just to get his swagger back a little. I don't think he has mentally bounced back yet from that KO he got from Gonzaga. He is so much better than what he is showing right now and anyone who saw him in Pride knows he is much better than what he is showing.

    I really agree...

    MMAweekly-

In what ended up being the focal point for the majority of the fans watching UFC 75, Michael “The Count” Bisping won a very controversial split decision over Cincinnati, Ohio native Matt “The Hammer” Hamill, in what will almost surely go down as one of the worst decisions in UFC history.

Hamill, who was a compe or on the Ultimate Fighter season 3 alongside Bisping, showed a much improved MMA game as he looked like a much better striker than the heavily favored British native in the early part of the fight.

The former collegiate wrestler landed a number of jabs and combinations that put Bisping on the defensive right away.

Hamill stalked Bisping throughout rounds 1 and 2 landing crisper, cleaner punches and taking the eventual winner of the Ultimate Fighter season down at will.

To almost everyone’s surprise watching the fight, Hamill looked like the more experienced and well rounded fighter when even after taking Bisping down, he let his opponent back up where he punished him on the feet.

The 3rd round was the only time Bisping put up much offense as he let his hands go and worked his stand-up against Hamill.

While he never landed anything truly devastating due to the Ohioan’s good boxing defense, Bisping was more aggressive late in the fight, but again didn’t do anything that ever put Hamill in any real danger.

The judges’ scorecards came in and when the first read a 29-28 decision for Bisping, the reaction was instantaneous as to shock how the Brit won 2 rounds. The 2nd judge saw it 30-27 for Hamill, while Cecil Peoples, who has been involved in controversial decisions in the past, scored the bout 29-28 for Bisping.

Michael Bisping pulled off a split decision win and in his post fight interview refused to give any credit to his opponent’s performance acting like he just won by knockout instead of being handed a gift decision.

On the other side of the fight, Hamill showed a tremendous amount of graciousness in defeat and should be commended for not being more upset after a horrendous decision.

The fans were also very vocal about this particular fight as the callers into MMAWeekly Radio’s post fight show rallied around Matt Hamill in this bout and voted him Fighter of the Night for his performance and grace in the face of defeat after a decision that no one seemed to agree with.

UFC 76 is Hostile Territory, because it's in Ohio and Franklin is from there...ect. Matt Hamill is from Cinci too. How about a bisping-hamill rematch in Cinci? First fight on bispings turf and the second one in Hamill's home town. Now that would be hostile territory. Heck, throw ortiz-evans on there and call it UFC 76: Rematch.

Yeah i like that idea although they both took some damage so i think that may be too quick a turnaround to have Matt and Mike get back in there again. It was such a bad decision, i had trouble getting into the main event which is a shame because it was a great fight. I see on the UFC site they are already captioning the fight like it was close and somehow legit that Matt lost. I can see Dana White now on the promo for the rematch saying how "Most people thought Matt won but it was close", yeah right he owned Bisping. The good thing about this is that who the outside of the UK will want to watch Mike fight anyone but Matt in a rematch?? Matt gained more fans for getting robbed and showing class than he would have if they just gave him the win like they should have. Mike got beat and then talked about it, nobody in the US will care about him fighting again unless he is fighting Matt and hopefully gets whipped again.

I was very impressed with both Jackson and Henderson. I had a feeling it would go 5 rounds. Both guys are VERY hard to knockout and neither guy is known for submissions either. I had it 4 rds to 1 rd for Rampage. I could see possibly giving Henderson 2 rds though. I think this outcome is best for the UFC in the long run. The MW division is lacking in depth. If Henderson does move down to his natural weightclass, the division gets a huge shot in the arm. I hope that’s what happens. I wouldn’t mind seeing Hendo fight Chuck at some point too though.

How the mighty have fallen. Word is Crocop suffered a broken rib in the 1st rd, which would make sense given his lack of activity in the 2nd and 3rd rounds after a solid 1st rd. Regardless, Kongo caused the broken rib and he brought it to CC the entire fight. I hope CC doesn’t call it quits. He’s still a top 10 HW in my opinion and if he’s on a card I’ll be watching. How about CC - Arlovski? Kongo is damn lucky he wasn't docked a point...I can't remember the last time I saw 3 straight nutshots...not to mention 1 or 2 earlier in the fight (with no warning). I think the reason John didn't take a point is because Kongo was handling him so well. I guess a fence grab ( o) is worse than nutshots...

Poor Matt Hamill…he was certainly robbed. Even the London fans boo’d the decision…that’s all the proof you need. And then to over-celebrate and talk trash to Hamill about going back to wrestling? Ridiculous. I’m officially wishing failure on Bisping, which probably means he’ll go on a 20 fight win streak of course. Seriously, he needs to drop to MW or he’s going to get destroyed by a mid to upper level LHW. Hamill beat him up pretty bad. Maybe that’s why he went to train with Rampage…eliminate him from the list of guys that he would fight in the future. Apparently they became good friends while at Big Bear…

Nice comeback by Marcus Davis…maybe he’s got a little something. He called out Gomi 2 fights ago. While Gomi to the UFC doesn’t appear to be happening, I’m all for Davis getting a step up in compe ion to see what he can do…

And Houston Alexander…damn. Time for a step up for him too. I nominate Bonnar, o (I really have no interest in seeing o-Evans 2), Evans, Jardine (after he loses to Chuck), or Forrest (after he loses to Shogun)…
The Torres - Liaudin fight apparently aired in England only, it’s out there if you search for it…

I still say Fedor is a done deal. Not only did they talk about him and show footage of him in the Countdown to UFC 75 show, but he was mentioned during UFC 75 several times. During the Crocop - Kongo fight, Rogan even mis-identified Crocop as Fedor once during his fight! And if you have the fights recorded, go back to 2:52 left in the 4th rd of the Rampage - Hendo fight. Goldberg said…

“We’ll get Fedor in here. To fight the guy next to us. Randy already knows.”Take it for what it’s worth, but they just don’t talk about fighters that aren’t in the UFC. If you only watched UFC broadcasts in the past, you’d have never heard of Fedor before last night…

That's weird. They typically don't mention fighters, and more specifically other organizations. I know they were pissed when they had tried to setup the Silva v. Liddell fight they had brought in Silva who was wearing a Pride shirt. They called the fight off and Dana was pissed because it was free advertising for them. Rogan mentioned they don't usually -- aren't really supposed to -- talk about other fighters and organization. E.g., before they signed Cro Cop you didn't hear anything about him. Then, before they signed him you started seeing and hearing about him. It's just my opinion that they've signed him already.

“We’ll get Fedor in here. To fight the guy next to us. Randy already knows.”
Did you hear Rogan call Cro Cop, Fedor? He kept talking about Fedor, then called Crop Cop, Fedor.

I re-watched Hamill-Bisping last night and there is NO WAY anybody can justify the 2nd round the Bisping. I didn't even watch the 3rd after finishing the 2nd...

Hamill blocked just about everything Bisping threw at him, except for a few jabs. He landed some strikes of his own and got 2 or 3 takedowns...

Rogan actually mentioned Fedor a couple of UFCs ago.
Technicality...one time, after the Pride purchase...

    My point is still valid...

Did you hear Rogan call Cro Cop, Fedor? He kept talking about Fedor, then called Crop Cop, Fedor.
Yes, he caught himself the 2nd time...

We'll see how immediate. o and Evans looks to be at least 5 events out, or more.

The only thing that sucks for Hamill is that he beat him the first time. It's a lose-lose situation for Hamill. I'm also sure that Bisping wants plenty of time to prepare, and it's not going to be a quick turn-around. Even if Dana said it was going to be 77 or 78, I'm sure Bisping would be "injured" and have to pull out. Bisping knew he lost. Look at Bisping at the end of fight -- head down, body posture "slumped" -- he knew he lost.

Hamill will beat him again. Hamill is too big and strong and surprising learned to punch. I just hope for a KO to shut Bisping up!

“I wanted to thank you for all your support following UFC 75. I put a lot of heart into that fight and I feel good about my performance. I am still improving and getting better with more training and to become a well-rounded fighter. I am looking forward to more fights in the near future. PS I want to thank you all for the emails. I have thousands and its hard to respond to all of them but I do try to read them when I have free time and it lifts my spirit. So thank you.”

“UFC 75” ON E TV IS THE MOST WATCHED UFC EVENT IN HISTORY

4.7 Million Viewers Tune In To See First Ever UFC le Bout On e TV

Fight Card Outdrew Everything Else On Television With Young Men On September 8 Including College Football And NASCAR

New York, NY • September 11, 2007 • The first ever UFC le fight on e TV drew a staggering 4.7 million viewers on Saturday, September 8 (9:00pm-12:11am) making it the most watched UFC event ever and the most watched mixed martial arts event ever in North America. The “UFC 75” telecast emanating from the O2 Arena in London, England peaked at 5.6 million for the bout between UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and PRIDE champ Dan Henderson. The fight card drew more Men 18-34 and Men 18-49 than anything else on television, broadcast or cable on September 8, including heavy sports compe ion from college football on ABC and ESPN, NASCAR on ABC, and the U.S. Open Women’s Final on CBS.

“The ratings are further proof that the tide in American sports is changing,” said Kevin Kay, General Manager, e TV. “Young men, who cons ute the e TV core audience, prefer the incredible action and athleticism of the UFC to more traditional sports.”

“We're very proud to have added to the rich history of sports in London with this watershed mixed martial arts event,” said Dana White, UFC President. “Not only did UFC 75 showcase the bout that unified the 205 lb Pride and UFC les, it did so in front of a record breaking crowd at the O2 Arena in London, and in front of the largest U.S. audience to ever tune in to an MMA card during its e TV telecast.”

“UFC 75” on e TV scored 2,503,000 Men 18-49 compared to 2.3 million for Oregon vs. Michigan on ABC; 2.1 million for NASCAR on ABC; 1.3 million for Virginia Tech vs. LSU on ESPN; 1.3 million for Notre Dame vs. Penn St on ESPN, and 546,000 for the U.S. Open Women’s Final on CBS.

“UFC 75” on e TV scored 1,622,000 Men 18-34 compared to 1.2 million for Oregon vs. Michigan on ABC; 717,000 for NASCAR on ABC; 656,000 million for Virginia Tech vs. LSU on ESPN; 687,000 for Notre Dame vs. Penn St on ESPN and 190,000 for the U.S. Open Women’s Final on CBS.

    Overall, the e TV telecast drew a 3.1 rating (3.0 million homes), 5.7 Men 18-34 (1.6 million), 4.5 in M18-49 (2.5 million), and 6.2 rating in M25-34 (1.0 million).

Jackson won a hard fought, five round, unanimous decision over Henderson to unify the UFC and PRIDE les in the 205lb weight class. The night's action also featured a hotly contested three round battle between former The Ultimate Fighter 3 teammates Michael “The Count” Bisping and Matt “The Hammer” Hamill, with a split decision going to Bisping. Frenchman Cheick Kongo and Mirko Cro Cop went head to head in a battle of feared kickboxers, with Kongo earning a unanimous decision after three rounds in the Octagon.

The action-packed undercard also featured Nebraska native Houston Alexander winning his second straight UFC bout in stunning fashion, knocking out his opponent Alessio Sakara in just over a minute into the first round, and surging welterweight contender Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis extending his UFC win streak to six after submitting Paul Taylor via arm-bar in the first round of their match-up.

e TV is the exclusive cable television home to the premier mixed martial arts organization in the world, The Ultimate Fighting Championship®. The sixth season of the highly-rated reality series, “The Ultimate Fighter,” featuring UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra and former champ Matt Hughes as coaches, premieres Wednesday, September 19 at 11:00pm ET/PT.

e TV is available in 93.6 million homes and is a division of MTV Networks. A unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), MTV Networks is one of the world’s leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms.

AA and Sylvia fought 2 events later, which is the quicket rematch to date, I believe. I don't see Hamill and Bisping fighting at 77 or 78 is all I mean. I think it's going to be further out and thus giving Bisping a better shot to be more prepared. Thus a lose-lose for Hamill, because I also believe Bisping will take it. It's very rare for the outcome to change when a quick turn-around happens for rematches.

    *************************************************

Moving from NBC to ESPN cost The Contender more than 5.5 million viewers. Last week’s debut was watched by 1.03 million people, compared to the 6.7 million that watched the first episode on NBC last spring.
While some of that change could be blamed by the show’s move to cable, which has traditionally drawn fewer viewers than network TV, that excuse doesn’t work this time.

On the same night, ABC’s debut of The One, the US version of Fame Academy, was pounded into the ground by SciFi’s new show Eureka. Despite the drama’s poor execution of an intriguing concept, Eureka “bested the new ABC reality series … by 32%,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

ESPN's The Contender Punches Up Ratings

    John Consoli

    OCTOBER 18, 2005 -

The rematch between The Contender season one champion Sergio Mora and runner-up Peter Manfredo Jr. produced the highest-rated boxing match on ESPN since 1998, and the most viewed telecast on either ESPN or ESPN2 since 1997.

The telecast was seen in more than 1.2 million homes and produced a household rating of 1.4. The telecast also produced a 2.2 rating among men 18-34, highest rating in that demo for boxing in more than 10 years.

"Saturday night's ratings performance represents a genuine interest by our viewers and boxing enthusiasts for The Contender storyline and high-level compe ion in general," said Ron Semaio, senior vp, ESPN Original Entertainment in announcing the bouts ratings.

The Contender premiered on NBC last season, but was ratings-challenged on the broadcast network. ESPN decided to pick up the show for a second season, which will begin airing in April 2006. Two more fights will be televised before the start of the second season of the show.

The Contender is produced by ESPN, along with Mark Burnett Productions and DreamWorks

Meanwhile, the standard ratings for The Contender, meaning the viewers who tune in for each new episode Tuesdays at 10 p.m., are decent and growing slightly each week. The first four weeks of shows averaged a 1.2 rating and a total of 1.4 viewers per week. That’s still behind, but getting within shouting distance, of the ratings of media darling “The Ultimate Fighter” on e TV. ESPN is said to be thrilled with the ratings, but keep in mind it still represents about a loss of about five million viewers from last year’s initial season on NBC, in which it was considered a failure.
