I'm sure we'll sign somebody, but I can see our going into camp with one or two open slots.

    There's no rush.

Several NBA players work out at the Spurs Practice Facility in the off-season. I have no insight into this situation with Ostertag but I wouldn't doubt it if Jacque Vaughn had something to do with Greg working out there, whether for the Spurs or just to get some work in with NBA players.

The day that the Spurs sign Ostertag is the day I go to Super-Cuts and ask them to give me an "Ostertag".

Pay him or perhaps sign someone better able to contribute today, luxury tax be damned.

This guy wants a bunch of Malik and Rasho contracts clogging up the future. Who do you suggest they overpay for the 14th and 15th spots?

Why they would sign Ostertag with Mutumbo still available is beyond me.

This guy wants the Spurs to win a couple more championships and not worry about the luxury tax. Only gimps cheer the Spurs' cutting payroll.

Who do you want them to spend all these luxury tax dollars on?

People. "Working out with the Spurs" and "Tryin to get back in the League" doesn't mean the Spurs are going to add him to their roster.

Am I the only one who thinks that an Ex Jayhawk teammate and Ex Jazz teammate of Jacque Vaughn's working out with the Spurs at their Practice Facility conjurs up a thought that there may be some connection?

    So who is it?

The Spurs aren't signing Ostertag. But it seems that their FO stance at staying near or under the lux tax has garnered your disapproval. Who should they give lux tax dollars to? What contract terms should they be willing to give this mystery person?

Spurs don't have a big center in their roster. Maybe they are trying to sign a big stiff as 6th bigman and activate him against players like Shaq and Yao. I'm not sure that they should do it. Big centers aren't the answer against Yao : he owned big centers like Damp/Diop while he wasn't great against Utah, Okur and Boozer aren't really big centers. Old Shaq isn't a big threat.

A project as 6th bigman is the best thing to do. it could be Mahinmi or someone else.

Mahinmi is still without a team. The longer Mahinmi is without a team the more likely he will sign sign with Spurs. Training camp for European team have started and euro teams roster are almost full. Finding an euro team, that could be a good fit for Mahinmi, is almost impossible at this stage of the offseason.

Specially if spurs consider Houston will be a west contender next year.

I agree for Yao, even Diaw had better successes guarding him than big centers with trying to deny him the ball.

That guys makes a living out of bashing the FO's cheapness.

And he uses many nicks to do so.
