35 minutes? That isn't good at all...
Hopefully he's just getting Hill adapted to the system, but knowing D'Antoni, I'm not so sure.
Wow: Grant Hill plays 35 minutes in the first ing game of the season. Same ol' D'Antoni.
Hill's not gonna make it to January.

Wally is terrrible. Sonics should buy him out.
Earl Boykins is a low post scorer against the suns.
just give the ball to durant, he'll put them back in it...
Sonics need to work on following through with their shot. A lot of shots blown that should've gone in. But the team is so young, most of their errors are due to juvenility. Seattle deserves to keep them and see their future after the crap they've had to go through before.
What it was, it allowed the Suns to let Amare guad someone else, stay out of foul trouble, and create more havoc.I think the Amare's suspension built up Thomas's contribution. If not for that, K Thomas would not mean much in the minds of most Spur fans.
In a typical game, where Amare isn't in foul trouble, he's going to play 35 - 40 minutes. Thomas wouldn't be much of a factor.
They also didn't double duncan as much.
The contributions of Kurt Thomas where quite alot.
That's unfortunate. But overall, I was very impressed with what they brought tonight. They're gonna be a fun team to watch!![]()
down 10, minute 15 left. Theyre done.
The Sonics used to do the same thing last year.
Theyd be beating a good team through three quarters and just fall apart in the 4th.
Sonics really hung in there they just ran out of gas in the end. Fun to watch though hopefully they can build something around Durant
"Only one team will finish the year with a win, that's the champions... and that's what the Suns are playing for this year." - Doug Collins
Isn't that what everybody is playing for every year Doug?
Doug Collins.
Master of the stupid, and the obvious...
Sonics: 41% FG overall, 41 points in the 2nd half. That's not bad defense.
Hill played 33 minutes, not 35 as previously stated. D'Antoni should limit him to about 30 if he hopes to keep him fresh.
Well if Grant Hill is going to sit out behind the three point line and launch long range bombs all game, he doesn't have to worry about getting hit too much since he's attacking the basket once or twice a game. , play him 48 minutes a game if all D'Antoni is going to do is have him be a spot up three point shooter. 7 3-pt attempts for a guy who's never had that kind of range?
D'Antoni is weird.
I agree that Hill should only play 30 minutes at most. I don't know what all these Spurs fans are crowing about. Spurs barely beat Memphis and Portland, which are two crappy teams and let them shoot a better percentage than we let the Sonics shoot tonight. I think the Suns can play defense, just wish they would do it consistently. I also think we had first game rust, so I'm glad we kept at it and won. Anyone notice that Nash had seven rebounds? I have noticed he has been trying harder in this area this year. Amare played a great game especially for coming off a knee scope so recently. We will get better as the season goes on.

Yeah, my bad: nba.com had him listed at 33 minutes with two minutes to go in the game, with him on the floor. I've seen three different minute tallies for Hill tonight in boxscores at nba.com, yahoo, and espn.com.![]()
Yahoo.com keeps the best up-to-minute game stats except for technicals. At least that's how it was last season.
Oh, and Chuck still probably ties a tie better than I do.
me too, is there a better sports show?

Honestly it was horrible defense. Seattle missed a bunch of easy ones, mainly due to the fact they're so young and the rookies aren't used to playing back to backs. It is game 1 though so it's way too early to say the Suns defense will suck all year. I'm sure there are a lot of details to work out and improvements to be made, but looking at their team the only two players on that team that play defense are Marion and Bell. Being that none of them are bigs I don't really see their defense improving that much at all. If Duncan stays healthy I see him having a field day in the post everytime.
I don't think Seattle missed that many easy shots. They were hitting alot of contested jumpers in the first half. If anything, its Seattle's defense which was poor. The Suns scored 106 points despite 20 turnovers and poor three point shooting. How many wide open threes did Hill and Bell miss? The Suns won this game with some solid fourth quarter defense.
Marcus Banks will be the Suns most improved player this year.
He finally looks comfortable out there.
