The NBA is the premier men's basketball league in the entire world. And most of our teams have struggled with adapting to FIBA rules. If an international tourney were played under NBA rules, I'm pretty sure the US would dominate.

sure, but olympics are way more important.
Maybe in other countries. Americans don't give a about the Olympics unless we're kicking the ass of a rival superpower.

Wow. What a Homer call. And here I thought Dirk is better than Manu because he's more talented. I guess all PFs are better than all two-guards then, by your logic. I'd rather have Ronnie Turiaf than Manu.

They have different responsibilities, but if Manu were that good, you would build a team around him, instead of having him being a complementary star. And as we all know, Dirk doesn't really post up that much, he's basically a 2-guard in a 4's body. He's most effective when he gets the ball on the wing and takes a two-dribble pull-up jumper.
Why would they build around Manu when Timmy was already on the team?

If he was someone to build around, why wouldn't the Spurs trade him for several other very good players that would have filled the needs of the Spurs in the years they didnt win championships? Such as in 03-04, when they really needed some good 3-pt shooters? If he was so great, I'm sure he would have had quite a bit of trade value, and the Spurs could have more rings by now.

I'm just saying, a two-guard can be a franchise player that you can build around, such as Jordan, Kobe, etc. Obviously Manu isn't that good, but if he were, the offense the Spurs run and some of the personnel might be different, and Duncan might have to modify his game to accomodate Manu, rather than the other way around.

The point is that they didn't need to build around him so there would be no need for a ing trade

Manu's a great player and I'm glad he's a Spur. Would I like to have Nowitzki on the team too? Of course. Never said he wasn't a great player.

Nowitzki is the best player for Dallas, Duncan for the Spurs.

Different things are needed from those guys as opposed to the role players.

No. The point is, is that Manu is not a franchise level player. Hes a very good player, but he is not on the level of guys like Kobe, Wade, T-Mac, Lebron, etc...

McGrady's place on that list is becoming more and more debatable, though.

His ability to take over the game by himself is on the same level as the guys you mentioned above.
