Go yourself, whottt. ing wannabe Internet tough guy.

    WTF?

I have never threatened anyone on this board...I really get tired of hearing that.

IF you think I won't be an asshole in person in an argument...I will. I can't help it. It's just my nature. I just try not to argue in person, actually I don't even like arguing in person, because they do get heated etc. it's just not worth it. But here? It's why I'm here. If you say something stupid you should be prepared to get called out for it.

An internet tough guy is someone who threatens people...and I have never done that. In fact I laugh at people that get that mad...

    Get the difference.

You guys flat out screwed up by trading Devin Harris...Period....at least when it comes to playing us.

Man I hated that dude...probably like you guys hate Manu.
It's not a slam dunk like Rasheed going to the Pistons in 2004. And I was against the idea of trading for Kidd, for much of those reasons, that Harris and Diop were vital against the Spurs, it would our cap situation, and we still had a young nucleus. But you have to admit, that even though we've won 9 out of the last 14 games against you guys, the playoff series was decided by the length of a fingernail, and it's not like we own you guys, the Spurs were more than capable of beating the previous incarnation of the Mavs.

I think the team started from the same proposition as Phoenix: We're probably not going to win a le as is, so we need to go in a different direction. I've never seen the West this top-heavy and tight this late in the season, as we're simultaneously 3 games out of the 1 seed and 2 games away from the lottery.

Kidd is a better passer, has better court vision, and is better defending the bigger guards like B-Diddy than Devin Harris. It's not like Devin Harris is a shut-down defender, he just tends to cancel out Tony Parker. It's risky, but the Mavs don't have four les, they're desperately trying to win just one.

And you know...you guys might have had the team to do it this season.

Kidd's strengths play to the Spurs strenghts defensively...and Paker plays to Kidd's weakness densively.

Harris OTOH played to our weakneeses on both sides of the ball.

We'll see what happens...but the reason so many Spursfans are celebrating this trade is legitimate...it's because of how badly Kidd matched up on Parker in the 2003 NBA finals...and Parker was just 20 years old then, and Kidd was in his prime.

Like I said...you guys feel you're better? More power to you...but a lot of us are thrilled Devin Harris is gone...because he was like your Manu when it came to matching up with us.

Oh, I totally understand, I made pretty much the same argument. I felt this team deserved one more shot after coming so close in 06 and playing at such a dominant level before peaking too early last year. If anything, Avery is now on the hot seat. If we lose in the first round again, I wouldn't be surprised if he's let go.

Man no pity from spurs fans around here. We got a stupid GM that just broke our franchise with one trade. Anyways we both can agree that we hate the Lakers.

Parker will do the same thing. The old man can't keep up with the fast guys.

    31 pts
    11 asts
    9 stls
    5 rebs
    1 TO

Paul almost because the first player since Mookie Blaylock to post a points, assists, steals triple-double, which happened 10 years ago.
He will again abuse the entire Spurs team this Saturday

Possibly but I think Parker on the perimeter and Duncan in the interior have a better shot at slowing down Paul.

Hey, Mav Fan calling whottt a Mav Fan isn't cool. Spurs fans can get away saying that because that's Spurs fan on Spurs fan violence. Mav Fan doesn't get that leeway. Call one of us a Mav Fan and you are insulting all of us.

Besides ... whottt's right. Devin Harris is the only point guard in the league who can stay in front of Parker defensively. And as far as Chris Paul goes, Parker has historically dominated him. Out of all their matchups, Paul has had the upper hand in only two or three of those games. Kidd, on the other hand, is going to get burned by Paul, Williams and Parker every game due solely on speed and quickness. If the Spurs and Mavs play in the playoffs, Kidd will have to end up guarding Bowen.

And not only Harris, freakin' Diop was one of two players in the NBA (along with Camby) who can block Parker's tear drop. Outside of Dirk and Howard, if I had to pick two players to take away from the Mavs, Harris and Diop might have been at the top of the list. Jason Kidd? Eh, if the Spurs lose to a Jason Kidd team, they weren't winning the championship anyways. Everything Kidd does is what the Spurs specialize in defending against.

You mean you and Shoogar were just f'n with me?

Seriously...I always loved playing the Mavs that averaged 25 assists per game to get their 100 points, because I'd look at the Spurs allowing 17 assists per game....defense overrules offense every time.

Then...I looked at the Mavs after Nash and they were still scoring 100 ppg...and the Spurs were still giving up only 17 apg...

But I knew were in trouble when I saw the Mavs were doing that only averaging 16 APG...there was no passing for the Spurs D to disrupt...and Harris was a huge part of that.

That's what got us...and AJ knew it would, because he knew what the foundation for our D was...from inside experience.

The little trick AJ pulled...it was the #1 thing the Mavs were doing to beat us. We could not disrupt their offense the way AJ had it structured...and Pop was forced to go to smallball to hang with them offensively. AJ forced us to give up our D...and forced Pop to become an offense oriented coach.

    That's gone now...completely....

And not only Harris, freakin' Diop was one of two players in the NBA (along with Camby) who can block Parker's tear drop. I hadn't even thought about Diop but yeah...he was a problem too...too bad we couldn't have ditched Terry in this deal somehow...then we'd be looking at sweeping the Mavs.

Did any of you watch the game or are you just going off the final boxscore? Because if you actually watched the game you'd know that Kidd wasn't always defending Paul on every play.

But it doesn't matter. I know how you guys are. You'll go off the final results and just assume that Kidd was 10' behind on every play.
Nice -- trade left you with a PG that can't or won't pull duty on the elite PGs and Notwitzki anchoring the post.

And if the trade didn't go through when it did, the Mavs would still be without Harris here for 2 weeks. Who's to say they'd fare much better with the Barea/Terry backcourt in that span?

fck the regular season. Dallas was really the only team I certainly didn't want to see in the playoffs before this trade.

    Now? Bring it.

I just pray we don't see NO and Bonzi now.

Im still not completely sold this "seals the deal" for the Spurs if we match up with the mavs in the playoffs, but it definately didnt hurt. Devin Harris was a Spurs killer, as well as Diop. Getting rid of them doesnt help the mavs at all if we meet up.

But still, they are a good team and should still be respected.

I want to believe we can trash them like we used to do back before 2005 but I just dont see it being that easy.....

That being said, Tony drops his nuts right on Kidds chin and forehead like nobody's business.

I totally agree with this. Mavs were right there, and getting more playoff experience every year. These guys were getting "seasoned" in the playoffs...and I think people underate that.

They needed another chance, they were close...very close. I feared Dallas more than any other team.

This is a major chemistry break-up for a team that was a major contender. Something I don't think the Spurs FO would ever do, and might be the major difference between teams like the Spurs and Mavs. I think the Mavs FO was impatient and panicked. The Spurs trade was more of a complement to the team...the Mavs trade was a major change.

A major change I'm not sure was that necessary.

That Golden State loss freaked Cuban to over reacting, imho.

...and Chris Paul is just insane. He'll abuse anyone and everyone.
