NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports there are "some people that believe" Pacman Jones could be a Cowboy by as soon as next week.
However, Jones' agent Manny Arora says he's talked to several teams and that the ans are in no hurry to part with Pacman. Still, Dallas is clearly the early frontrunner. Pacman's suspension is scheduled to be reviewed in July

how could he be a cowboy by next week but if it isnt getting reviewed til july??

Dont know, but I have never heard of a suspended player being traded, and I also just heard Chris Mortenson say on NFL Live that suspended players cant be traded.

Maybe mort is wrong, maybe you can trade the contract of a suspended player, but I was pretty sure you couldnt.

Just because you're released doesn't mean anything. He was still suspended.

You can be traded while suspended.

However, Jones doesn't have to be reinstated to be traded to another team. And that's where the Cowboys and possibly some other teams will get into the picture.

He can work out and get treatments.

But he wouldn't be able to attend meetings or practice in mini camp.

There are "rumblings in league circles" that the Cowboys are the only team seriously pursuing Pacman Jones, according to the Dallas Morning News.

If so, they might not have to give up as high a pick as the fifth-rounder ESPN's John Clayton suggested. Clayton also called New Orleans a possible landing spot. The Morning News reports the Patriots don't have Pacman on their radar.

Just because your suspended it doesn't mean your entire career freezes. It just gets restricted.

You still have rights as a player but your involvment with a team changes.

When Tank became a Cowboy Jerry Jones was still haggling with the league on when he could play.

I read which said the ans are willing to accept a fifth, maybe even a sixth for him, which is closer to what I'd be willing to risk.

There always seem to be some good players available in the fourth (Chris Canty, Marion Barber), although you can also easily miss in that round, and I don't think giving up that pick for a player who is in the no-tolerance zone would be wise. But like everyone says, the potential high reward with Adam Jones is very intriguing.

Now, I'd give up a conditional fourth in 2009, but nothing higher than a fifth this year.

That is likely to be what it will come to. Depending on how many teams are really willing to deal for his sorry -ss.

THIS IS FROM THE ESPN INTERVIEW WITH PACMAN JONES ANDF MICHAEL IRVIN.

    ************************************************** *******

Pacman Jones' childhood is a sad story. His dad was murdered two doors down when he was 8 years old. His mom has fought drug addiction for years. The grandmother who raised him died when he was a freshman in college.

Michael Irvin had Pacman tell that tale.

Pacman has either been coached well on what to say today or finally gets it. He hasn't made any excuses for his horrible behavior and says to point the finger at him for his problems. He talked about having to separate himself from family members and childhood friends who have been his wingmen.

"It's getting to the point where it ain't no time for slip-ups right now," Pacman said. "It's like I'm on the cliff right now. One slip-up and it's off the cliff."

I am taking stuff form a live blog right now (above post as well) from dallas news.com as they are listening to Irvin interview Pacman
    ************************************************** ************

Pacman Jones has said a whole bunch of things over the last few weeks. Finally, I think the magic words came out of his mouth ...

"I'd be really lucky to get another shot," he said.

That's a big one for him, I believe. It's Pacman saying that his talent alone does not give him the right to play in the league.

Another thing he addressed was his visit to a New York gentlemen's club on his trip to visit commissioner Roger Goodell last year.

"It was a bad decision," Jones said. "It was one of the dumbest decisions I've ever made. ... It's just not going to happen anymore."

As Timmy said, Pacman's playing his cards right here. Finally.

This has turned into a complete disaster for Pacman Jones.

I've lost count of the number of off-field fiascoes they've discussed. I do know exactly how many Pacman took blame for: zero.

I especially liked his explanation for why he wasn't smoking weed when an officer pulled him over and caught a contact buzz when Pacman rolled down the window.

"I was in the program at that point, so there was no way I could have been smoking at that point," Pacman said, referring to the NFL's program for guys who have already flunked a drug test. "Period, point blank."

So Pacman couldn't have been smoking weed because he was a proven drug user. Huh?

He did fess up to making it rain in the Las Vegas strip club the night a bouncer got paralyzed by a bullet. But, hey, he wasn't the only one throwing piles of cash in the air!!

Agent/lawyer/enabler Manny Arora grabbed a microphone and tried to set the record straight about the Vegas strip club shooting.

The media blew Pacman Jones' involvement out of proportion so they could report a "sexy" story. He didn't do anything wrong, Arora insisted.

Pacman did plea no-contest to a misdemeanor charge of conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct, which would seem to indicate that he did something wrong.

people on the comments section are saying he isn't reporting these summary's right.

    welcome!

    ****************************************

Michael Irvin asked Pacman Jones to compare himself to the cornerbacks who have been cashing in with high-eight-figure deals.

"I'm the best. Hands down," Pacman said. "As far as the complete package goes, I'm the best."

Pacman might be overrating himself a tad, but there's no doubt that he's a phenomenal talent. He acknowledged that his "stupidity" has come close to costing him his career.

Pacman has willingly admitted making dumb mistakes that led to his suspension. But he didn't take blame for any of the crimes on his record. Very confusing.

    Cowboys sweeten offer for Pacman
    Posted: Wednesday March 26, 2008 10:20PM; Updated: Thursday March 27, 2008 9:58AM

    By Bucky Brooks, SI.com

Pacman Jones has made it clear he wants to be a Cowboy. Dallas is doing its part to make sure that happens.

After their initial offer of a seventh-round draft pick to the ans for their suspended cornerback was rejected, the Cowboys have upped their proposal to include a player along with the late-round selection, a source told SI.com.

The ans are warming to the offer, according to the source, but a few financial ramifications need to be addressed before the deal can be consummated. Jones has two years remaining on his original five-year, $30 million deal, and the Cowboys want to redo that contract, likely to a one-year deal to protect their interests. Jones is on record stating his willingness to renegotiate the contract and his agent, Manny Arora, reportedly met with Cowboys' officials earlier in the week to address the situation.

Jones is currently suspended by the NFL and awaiting reinstatement from commissioner Roger Goodell. Though Jones' off-field woes detract from his talent - he's been arrested six times since May 2005 -- the ans realize Jones is a Pro Bowl-caliber player and are attempting to recoup some value in exchange for the troubled star. Jones was the ans' best defensive player when he last suited up for them in 2006, and his electrifying return skills make him an impact player in two phases of the game.

"The kid was the sixth pick in the draft and we need to get something of value in return," an unnamed ans official said.

I read somewhere that the Boys initally offered a list of names to the ans of players they would trade for the Pac. Im guessing it will be someone like Akin or maybe a reciever like Miles Austin. Seems like a lot for a guy who might not play. Odell Thurman hasnt been reinstated in like two years and he did a of a lot less than the Pac.
