What is there to up? Is an easy choice. Bulls take Rose,Heat take Beasly. Bulls take Beasly then the Heat take Rose. Does not get easier then that. I doubt Riley takes OJ Mayo with the 2nd pick.
Besides, when you're drafting #1, you should draft for talent over need. Atlanta ed up not so much because they didn't take a point guard but because they didn't take Chris Paul. If Beasley is the top talent available, they should take him and figure out what to do with Thomas and Nocioni later.
as a Spurs fan we are used to seeing that look from him![]()
If you think there is that big a difference in talent, then I understand your point. Most don't think so, however. But I can't really dismiss your take, since I only saw Rose play live (and loved his game), and only highlights of Beasley, so I'd have to give you the benefit of the doubt.
Still, I can't help but to realize that Hinrich is TWENTY SEVEN years old, and he's been in the league for 5 years now. At some point you have to consider the possibility he's simply not that good. And they need a guard much more so than another combo forward.
So if they're going with Beasley, they'd better package some combo forwards and / or Hinrich for a dependable PG, or else they're going nowhere no matter how much talent they stockpile.
Congrats to the Bulls! I think they should get Rose, and trade Hinrich.
great news for the Nuggets. Nets got the 10th pick which means there is no way a trade happens. It sounds like it just Kiki starting rubbish rumours anyway.
The Nuggets would love Hinrich and it means he is much more available if they take Rose.
Paxson will find a way to up the pick.
With the first pick in the NBA draft, the Chicago Bulls select . . . Michael Bolton!
Remember it was Paxson that traded the rights to Aldridge for Tyrus Thomas.
Pick which he had previously acquired by trading faint hearted (both metaphorically and literally) Curry to New York, so I don't think you can be that harsh on him. He also raped Phoenix, in the trade that landed them the 7th pick used on Deng by sending them their pick the following year, which turned out to be 20 something (21st I think), which New York subsequently got and used on Nate Robinson. So you can't really be all that hard on Paxson. Overall he's drafted well. The main knock on him should be that he couldn't find a way to land talent, mainly quality inside scorer and a guard, particularly when Gasol and Garnett ended up elsewhere for less than the Bulls could have offered.
The Bulls already ed up their team. Taking Big Ben over Tyson, trying to land a star by not giving up 2-3 players named Gordon,Deng, Kirk. Drafting Noah, drafting Tyrus over Aldridge, etc etc. Paxon has ed up too many times and the Bulls best bet is to stop being picky. If they want a star it is going to cost them Deng/Gordon(or Kirk) and picks.
or get beasley and make their frontcourt tougher
