Me neither. Takes too long.
I never tip at fast food.
Me neither. Takes too long.
MR. WHITE
Look, I ordered coffee. Now we've
been here a long in time, and
she's only filled my cup three
times. When I order coffee, I
want it filled six times.
MR. BLONDE
What if she's too busy?
MR. WHITE
The words "too busy" shouldn't be
in a waitress's vocabulary.
NICE GUY EDDIE
Excuse me, Mr. White, but the last
thing you need is another cup of
coffee.
They all laugh.
MR. WHITE
These ladies aren't starvin to
death. They make minimum wage.
When I worked for minimum wage, I
wasn't lucky enough to have a job
that society deemed tipworthy.
NICE GUY EDDIE
Ahh, now we're getting down to it.
It's not just that he's a cheap
bas --
MR. ORANGE
--It is that too--
NICE GUY EDDIE
--It is that too. But it's also
he couldn't get a waiter job. You
talk like a pissed off dishwasher:
" those s and their
ing tips."
MR. BLONDE
So you don't care that they're
counting on your tip to live?
Mr. White rubs two of his fingers together.
MR. WHITE
Do you know what this is? It's
the world's smallest violin,
playing just for the waitresses.
MR. BLONDE
You don't have any idea what
you're talking about. These
people bust their ass. This
is a hard job.
MR. WHITE
So's working at McDonald's, but
you don't feel the need to tip
them. They're servin ya food, you
should tip em. But no, society
says tip these guys over here, but
not those guys over there. That's
bull .
MR. ORANGE
They work harder than the kids at
McDonald's.
MR. WHITE
Oh yeah, I don't see them cleaning
fryers.
MR. BROWN
These people are taxed on the tips
they make. When you stiff 'em,
you cost them money.
MR. BLONDE
Waitressing is the number one
occupation for female non-college
graduates in this country. It's
the one jab basically any woman
can get, and make a living on.
The reason is because of tips.
MR. WHITE
all that.
They all laugh.
MR. WHITE
Hey, I'm very sorry that the
government taxes their tips.
That's ed up. But that ain't
my fault. it would appear that
waitresses are just one of the
many groups the government s
in the ass on a regular basis.
You show me a paper says the
government shouldn't do that, I'll
sign it. Put it to a vote, I'll
vote for it. But what I won't do
is play ball. And this non-
college bull you're telling
me, I got two words for that:
"Learn to in type." Cause if
you're expecting me to help out
with the rent, you're in for a big
in surprise.
MR. ORANGE
He's convinced me. Give me my
dollar back.

I tip at Sonic. What I really despise is tipping at Starbucks.
Well I went to the Sonic here in Round Rock for a quick Route 44 cherry slush during halftime today and had every intention on tipping the car-hop until they made me aware that their slush machine was broken. I took time to go to Sonic for a famous slush and they couldn't make one so no I didn't tip. But most times I just tell them to keep the change, up to a dollar.
one thing about asians is that we dont like to tip, but when we have money and peer pressure and wanna showoff our wealth for the day, we spend big.....then you wont see us for a week or month or year....
LOL im not even going to comment on this but I believe you.
to answer the question:
no, thank god for the credit card machine.
In Oz we only tip for good service because we have a high mandated minimum wage ($12 for fast food!). Go to a nice restaurant and you tip.
But when I'm in America, I like to feel like a big shot as CD said, so I wander around with a big roll of $1s just flicking them at random people and smiling.![]()
Gotta say that this is just one of the many things I have appreciated on my journeys to Oz.![]()
the minimum wage in aus, also depends on ur age and what field you work in...if you work in retail and under 18 yrs old, you get paid compared to someone working in mcdonalds or a fast food restaurant at the same age.
stuff tipping, those coins = petrol money
Really? I've been to a few nice restaurants lately and I've never seen anyone tip. I've never tipped, my girlfriend hasn't and I don't think my buddies do.
in australia its not compulsory to tipped
Who tips at a fast food place? I'll bet most of these places have a policy that doesn't allow workers to keep tips, it just ends up as a register overage.
I'm sure Sonic really needs that extra buck to stay afloat.
I tip at least $5 for everything....so yes.
So if you order a 99 cent coney, you will give the 6 bucks and leave?
See, this is another problem!
A lot of these Sonics are putting in these credit card machines. Most people don't feel obliged to tip when they use the card. , a lot of people won't even have cash ON them if they are using the card.
I'm sure bellhops have seen a significant decrease in tips since these things have been installed. And I would still be amazed to find out that they are getting a comparable amount of tips to a waiter or waitress.
I'll admit, I feel bad for not tipping now, but I think it's more of a problem that they are making these people live on tips and not giving them a full wage. Because as this post goes to show, the general consensus is usually not to tip them. As far as I ever was aware, you got your crappy minimum wage, and the tips was one of the few benefits to working at Sonic. Apparently, some chains are even taking that away.
I'll probably start tipping, dammit. Fortunately, I don't eat at Sonic often enough to care anymore, anyways.
