Russia is on the verge of demographic collapse, so is Ukraine, so is much of western Europe. So don't cry yourself to sleep worrying about a WWII repeat. Nobody over there has the manpower to do it again.

Maybe Putin thinks he can take Ukraine but that's the most he can possibly pull off and he definitely knows that. Or maybe he just wants to keep Ukraine a buffer zone by ensuring it remains a dysfunctional hole that will never qualify to be part of NATO, that part he has already accomplished.

I don’t think world economic reality allows for big wars unless some crazy ass leader is dead set on it.

And I got a problem with writing off Ukraine as unsolvable. Russia the same way. I don’t believe people have to live like that just because they have in the past. But no I don’t want us overseeing it. It is in OUR interest to see these places flourish though. So if there are economic and social policies we stick to as goals for those places, and yes even ourselves, I say we strive for it.

I refuse to be a lazy ass cynic that finds it easy to call everything permanent just to make it easy and a popular statement.
It’s like going in front of a crowd an saying everything is ed and getting a big applause and pats on the back. Fck that. You strive even though you might not make it happen. Giving up is for dull cowards. It’s a pussy ass way out of attempting to solve anything.

I am probably alive because we dropped the nukes. Japan was preparing to fight the invasion to the last man. My dad was a Corsair fighter pilot flying missions over Japan from Okinawa and the ground fire and flak was horrendous. He was confident he would have been killed or captured if the invasion plans had been carried out.
