I am waiting if I am the Spurs. Plain and simple. Continue to talk to him telling him that you are still open to trading and even possibly to L.A as he wants, but that you are not rushing it. Let training camp start and see how he acts towards the coaching staff and teammates. See how he looks as far as the quad goes. If you feel he is engaged and the relationship improves and you see he looks healthy then you offer the max extension.
The Spurs have to know and I am sure they do and continue to tell themselves that they have a top five maybe even top 3 player on their roster. They may never have that again. So don't settle for scraps from another team. They will never get back equal value so don't settle. This is why Woj and even R.C said that they want to repair the relationship. They know how special and rare Kawhi Leonard is when it comes to playing the game.
I just hope SA can get Fultz. I know many here don’t like him and that SA has guards, but he’s about the only prospect I can see that SA realistically has a shot at.
If they can at least get Fultz (which, yes, I am aware how far down that package has fallen from what some of us anticipated) then I would be happy.

So, they can take a few weeks to look at him, and then put the SM on the table if they want. And I'll bet the Lakers offers will still be about the same then too, as there is a whole season yet to play. I'd do that. Only risk is more KL / Uncle D shenanigans that would prevent Spurs seeing him play in training camp.
I'm thinking that's a way to gin up demand for his contract and a sign the Lakers won't match, so teams can bid for him without the that of coming away with nothing
If Leonard is getting shipped to the Clippers, he’ll have to be traded for Tobias Harris, Gilgeous-Alexander, and future draft picks. No one else is desirable on that roster and I’d rather not have the Spurs take Jerome Robinson. The Spurs will also have to unload undesirable contracts just to get a decent - if not a fair - return. Teodosic can be thrown in too, especially if Pop wants to stay compe ive, since he’s at a decent age where he’s got experience but he’s not too old like Parker.
Also that randle statement was pre LeBron.... Who knows if it still holds.

And Magic and Pelinka should reach out to Randle, bypass his agent and tell him his best bet is to come back. Show he can be a kay part of a contender and his value would only increase.
It's an organization without direction for years now trying to paper over their failures with big Free Agents and forcing a trade through tampering. None of that is going to fix much. They just signed Jevale McGee and Stevenson for God's sake.
