Going to Brooklyn was the best thing to happen to Russell.
    Did not say it wasn't.
But as an agent when a very public Team President takes multiple shots at one of your top 3-5 clients you are not gonna take that lightly. And he shouldn't.

But he also needs to do what is best for his clients, first ...

if phila wasn't willing to put fultz on the table before lebron decide why would they after?
Because Lebron is the main target for a team that lost 4-1 to BOS before they add Kyrie/Hayward. So unless they think their team will improve more than that, they need to drastically improve and Kawhi is the only real star left that is truly available.

Per Jalen Rose, "if he is the Spurs the only team that makes sense to make a deal with are the Boston Celtics because they have the proven young players and draft picks."

I know that Kawhi has stated he wants to go to L.A and tried to scare teams off by saying he won't resign with anyone else. So that leaves the Clippers and Lakers. None of those teams have anything of value to warrant a trade involving Kawhi unless they get a third team involved.

I think Kawhi would consider staying in Boston and Philly. Especially if they make it deep in the playoffs, which one of those two will now that LeBron left the Cavs if they stay healthy. So why is Ainge being a scared little girl? Trade your young pieces and that pick. You're getting a rare super star and still have Hayward and Kyrie. Imagine their starting lineup?

I just hope SA can get Fultz. I know many here don’t like him and that SA has guards, but he’s about the only prospect I can see that SA realistically has a shot at.

If they can at least get Fultz (which, yes, I am aware how far down that package has fallen from what some of us anticipated) then I would be happy.

If you can get a really solid pick too, then even better.
I agree 100%. He is still very talented and taking a chance that he will overcome the mental issues could give us a valuable asset. Nevertheless, I would wait it out and bring Kawhi into camp, which will give the Spurs time and space to either resolve the issue or for teams to see him in action during preseason. I think any 76ers package for Leonard needs to include Fultz & Saric. Keep in my mind as well that Leonard may not want to go through a year of media speculation so his camp may agree to a trade to the 76ers with a promise to resign if we make the decision to keep him for the year.

    you said a keyword, precedent

from the moment that the rat and his group decided to make public that it wanted to be traded to the fakers, in that moment the possibilities of a good trade for SA died.

He did not do it privately so that the team could have chances of getting good players, they did it in that way to do the maximum possible damage. After that how do people blame buford or pop for not making a trade if the rat destroyed any possibility?
This is what makes the group so amateurish. With any average agent down the street, Kawhi would probably already be in LA and his rep would be safe, except here where he's ins utionalized for posterity as a mother ing piece of .

But this whole process (which we can say now goes back to last summer), Kawhuncle has progressed with the notion in mind that it was a players league an that there's nothing SA could do but oblige to their desires.

He really thought he was almighty (and probably bought his own hype), reacting like a frustrated, mad kid, trying to find a new excuse or trick everytime the last didn't work.

He was clearly used by journalists and really thought he could lowball Pop.

He literally ruined a top 3 NBA player in his prime, independently of the mother ing piece of garbage Kawhitter is.

It's something to show in agents seminars as a caricature of what you shouldn't do.

I am waiting if I am the Spurs. Plain and simple. Continue to talk to him telling him that you are still open to trading and even possibly to L.A as he wants, but that you are not rushing it. Let training camp start and see how he acts towards the coaching staff and teammates. See how he looks as far as the quad goes. If you feel he is engaged and the relationship improves and you see he looks healthy then you offer the max extension.

The Spurs have to know and I am sure they do and continue to tell themselves that they have a top five maybe even top 3 player on their roster. They may never have that again. So don't settle for scraps from another team. They will never get back equal value so don't settle. This is why Woj and even R.C said that they want to repair the relationship. They know how special and rare Kawhi Leonard is when it comes to playing the game.
Patty sounded like everyone on the Spurs knows that Kawhi will play for other team next season. "I loved being his teammate".

I would doubt the Spurs will offer him -or any other player in next years- a supermax contract.

They lost him after the 1st meeting when they denied him that deal, what RC said in public was only to get better offers for Kawhi not to keep him.

agree, Kuzma definitely is not spurs material
Absolutely. None of what the Lakers have is 'spurs' material, if we want to use that term. I would not want any of what the Lakers have. This is why if the Spurs do this trade for the sake of making it, I will quit following this team. Period. There is no excuse to help Leonard or the Lakers. I do not think they will do this, but still will be very disappointed if they go that route.

The only way you make a deal with Los Angeles, is if you cripple them for years to come and clean them out in the process.

    A top 3 player doesn't have to...

And his camp knows that the Spurs won't offer that at any cir stances to anyone, that's what they asked for a trade.

We will see what happen to DJ when he asks for his max next offseason...

Spurs have til today to accept the Lakers’ offer, if reports on social media are true. If the Lakers don’t push through with that threat, they’ll look awfully weak and lose leverage again. I’m sure they have another deal lined up though, a lesser one but one which makes them substantially better than they currently are (which isn’t saying much, really).

Makes sense. SA the most another team can offer me is 185M if I’m traded but I’m mad at you for not offering me 220M!!

Maybe, maybe not. Did you see how the Sixers lost his last playoffs game? Embiid lost the ball in a very stupid play...He's a Russ-type of player, it's hard to trust him in the last seconds of a crucial game.

I guess some guys of that young core are supertalented but with a wrong approach to the game. It's not easy to change it, some players can't do it in their whole careers.

I've said before that supermax is not just about money...It's about status. Like everything in the NBA.

It's about to put a player at the same level of the other superstars. It's to put Kawhi at Curry's level.

When that deal is denied, it doesn't matter to lose $20M, $40M, or $80M.

We offer the super max, he is ours. That's what the Lakers need to understand. You have till October to trade for him. That's why Spurs are in no rush. This whole thing about not turning up to training camp is near a career ended. It's probably one of the most toxic things around.
You think the Lakers care about character? They retired a rapist’s jersey twice.

And the Spurs will have two DPOY with character issues without their numbers retired.

Its his agent driving that bus. His agent is the same as D'angelo Russell and Paul George. Dude has been bitter since we shipped D'Russ to BK.
In his agent's defense, Magic taking public shots at Russell, post-trade was unprofessional.

    But screw that guy.
And Magic and Pelinka should reach out to Randle, bypass his agent and tell him his best bet is to come back. Show he can be a kay part of a contender and his value would only increase.
PLEASE have him come back. That’s the most realistic path towards the Lakers NOT having max cap space next offseason.

If the trade offers are legit garbage then that's the best thing for the front office at this point tbh, makes their decision much easier.

    This.

He'd likely have gotten it if he met with the Spurs and just shown he was both healthy and committed to the team longterm. Instead, apparently, he was offended that the Spurs had some doubt after he sat out 73 games with a disputed injury. Imagine that.

If I had an employee that missed close to 90% of the work year out sick, I'd have some questions before doubling his salary. Hardly Draconian.

Kawhi's doctors in NY never cleared him to play, if he felt his quad wasn't 100%, like it or not, it was his right not to play injured.

The eighth doctor someone finds tells him his shoulder is messed up and he gets pills + workman’s comp. While right by the letter of the law, it doesn’t make it morally right.
