I'm white from San Antonio......what does that matter?

I could care less if the Reese fan is black. That is of no consequence. We have pur preferences and reasons why we like and dislike players.

Usually, our favorite players played on our favorite teams, wore our favorite number, were local heroes, or were just really badass. Maybe we liked them cause they were successful against teams or players we disliked

We had a very good draft night. I am not a fan of Carter, but a lot of people who know more than me are happy, so I will try to be optimistic.

The Astros beat the Phillies and are now the 3rd best team in MLB, just a few games behind Detroit and the Dodgers.

    So, good night for me.

Ugh, trading a couple seconds + 38 to move up for Kalkbrenner would have filled a huge backup center hole here. He's at worst an excellent third string center but probably could have provided some decent backup center minutes
that we could also get Flemming not drafted in first round. Trading that 38th pick before letting things shake out was stupid as

There will be a lot of eyes on the development of Carter Bryant vs Thomas Sorber in the coming years. I wonder if Presti had Sorber higher on his board, or if he landed there directly because of the Spurs' decision.

I think based off their team makeup they needed a project big, they’re gonna have to cut ties with Hartenstein soon once they extend all their young players

Memphis trading up for Coward actually makes me way higher on him than I was previously - if he ends up being a steal like many of their past draftees and sliding into a similar role as Bane as a high volume shooter, they will have basically gotten 4 unprotected 1st rounders for free

Maybe they had their eyes on Coward before the Bane trade and once they worked him out said yeah this is our future wing next to Wells.

I know summer league provides very little value (besides some basketball content in July) but I will be very interested to see how Cedric Coward does. Memphis has earned their credibility as the top scouting dept in the NBA, lets see if he is the latest hit. In terms of stats, his actual college season can't be counted on for much...he only played 6 games and those games were not against top talent.

He is also basically the same age as Sochan, so in theory he should be more developed physically than his compe ion. Memphis moving up for him on the surface looks as if they know something others didn't.

I wonder if we can trade someone for Danny Wolf

    would be a good project
Was sort of hoping we took him at 14. Would have liked to see what his passing looks like next to Victor. We talk about all types of bigs we want to see play with Vic but we almost never talk about a big who is a great passer and primary job could be to just get him easy buckets around the rim.

But Wolf could also be food on the defensive end and just end up being so bad their he is unplayable. And our defense is already bad enough.

Wright indicated in his post draft presser that they were surprised to get Bryant at 14 and actually tried to trade up for him but those efforts fell apart

    Other notes from draft day

    - lol Ace Bailey is so pissed

    - I don't pretend to hide my love for CMB, but going to Toronto is super weird and a terrible fit where he's playing with two dudes with very similar strengths and weaknesses except at different levels to himself in Barnes and Mogbo

    - what the is wrong with NO - Hawks are basically digging themselves out of the Dejounte trade at warp speed and have a chance at a top 4 draft pick in an absolutely loaded 2026 draft (Peterson-Dybantsa-Boozer trinity, Quaintance one of the best defensive prospects to come out in quite some time)

    - what is Portland thinking here? Maybe they know that Clingan just has a permanent minutes restriction but still super weird to reach for Hansen Yang

    - I basically hate the Nets' entire draft - I mean, some of the picks are decent for their draft position, but actually using all 5 picks and taking potentially 5 1st round draft pick rookies into camp is ing hilarious

I have been watching the WNBA since the Houston Comets dynasty. Cynthia Cooper was my favorite player until San Antonio got a team. Then, Becky became my favorite player of all-time.

Plum should have stayed with the Aces. She looks out of place with the Sparks. Maybe that will change if Brink ever stops being injured.

I will say I did stop watching during the covid years. I did root for the Aces a few years cause of Becky being the coach.

Yes, I root for the Fever. I am a fan of CC. I love the way she plays the game, especially those incredible passes. I could do with few less chucks, but players today chuck.

I know she and Reese play totally different positions. However, Reese is the one all in CCs grill whenever she does the slightest thing positive. She is the one who can't keep CCs name out of her mouth. CC barely acknowledges AR.
Did you miss the ncaa tourney where CC was talking cash all the way up until she ran into LSU. Reese was just returning the favor. Anyways, both ladies are good at what they do and have a lot of room to improve. Reese is an amazing defender, elite rebounder, skilled passer and ball handler for her size but her offensive game is ugly. CC at this point is a scorer but has hit a snag. I belive her fg% may be worst than Reese's at this point. She has no midrange game so if the 3 isn't falling shes relegated to standing around and pouting. She has to work on the turnovers too. With that being said I believe Paige Bueckners and a healthy juju watson will leapfrog her in popularity and skill soon.

    A+ draft tonight.

good call. was watching Paige with UCONN in the tourney and thought she actually was what they say CC is. Was a shame to see Juju get hurt

I'm shocked that Fleming is dropping to the 2nd round. I truly wish the Spurs would trade up to take a chance on him.

Spurs just drafted two potential star level players in Harper and Carter and you still want to complain. I’m sorry you won’t get a 2nd round talent added to your team
You have to make up I didn't say to hand wave away the criticism of your take. Lol Minix and Ingram are garbage.

Wonder if Utah will take Fleming and hope he's everything they wanted Cody Williams to be last year
more like everything they wanted Taylor Hendricks to be 2 years ago

So Charlotte gets both Kon and McNeeley. Interesting. Don’t mind it. Not sure who they plan on playing at C.

The Spurs punting #8 to the moon last year felt bad, them punting #38 this year somehow feels just as bad. I'm a prisoner of the moment I suppose.
they also had 2 second rounders last year. punted one (to indiana again) for a future pick. and punted the other one on a Juan Nunez stash

Guarantee they didn’t see Fleming and Raynaud or Kalkbrenner being in the second round

They didn’t see the Blazers drafting a damn Chinese center in the first round for Christ sakes who could?!?
thats why you dont trade the #38 pick before the draft even begins

That Juan Nunez pick seemed stupid and wasteful at the time. And 2 years later still feels that way.

Sounds like Brian isn't totally opposed to trading back into the 2nd if the right opportunity presents itself.

Would be hilarious if they ended up trading a future SRP and less cash than they got for IND for a better pick

Calling my shot now, assuming they get a legit back-up C and Wemby's health: Spurs will be a top 4 seed in the West. Love their assistant coach hirings and the Harper/Bryant picks.
