Didn't realize people want him that bad. I was never interested.
I remember hyping so hard about the possibility of prime KD coming to the Spurs alongside LMA and Kawhi and we'd have a new super-team...but we were the runner-up.
Then we just entered the boring ass years of Warriors vs. Cavs every year in the Finals, Kawhi left, and the Spurs fell into mediocrity.

Sure, but that really doesn't change things... it's just gravy. If they were picking #8 instead of #2, then they would have made moves to build a roster to compete for a Top-6 seed? That doesn't make sense. If anything, getting Harper has freed up some assets (like Vassell) you can move to upgrade the rest of the roster.
But the Spurs appear to not be very concerned about PF and backup C... which is going to make it difficult to compete in the west. So, what was the point of getting someone like Fox? There is no need to acquire a Top 30 player so that you can compete for a play-in spot.
I think people just realize that we need more players who can shoot... and Cam can definitely do that. Aside from that, he's pretty underwhelming.
Joe Dumbars signing Looney kind of makes sense. They have 6 guys for the 4/5 spots now. One of which (Zion) only plays 20 games a year. Although Tre and Herb can play some 4 they really can’t this year cause Pels don’t have any wings behind them.

Feel like the Spurs being patient is a signal for a bigger move like some pundits have suggested. Milwaukee has this week to prove something to Giannis.
I was slightly against the fox trade but we did ended up with a good deal. This is kind of how I feel about Giannis. Not sure who could offer a better trade package. Thunder are not trading their core and that means their own first round picks don't mean much as they're basically second rounders.
Other teams with assets dont have the players to be compe ive. Spurs might actually have a shot at getting another good deal through process of elimination again.

Free agent center Luke Kornet has agreed to a four-year, $41 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs, sources tell ESPN. Key frontcourt addition for the Spurs, who negotiated a contract tonight with Kornet's agent Max Wiepking of Gersh Sports.
Cautiously optimistic there's something brewing. If it was just Kornet and/or Yabusele, we'd be done. Right?

Vassell has a chance to re-build his value next season, but it's clear they'd basically have to pay to get off/dump him and/or Johnson right now and since they're unwilling to do so, the roster is basically gridlocked save for Kornet.
Speaking of which, let's hope his 4th season is a t/o or partial guarantee.

I don't think Fox signed up for the play-in. I mean, maybe he does the Spurs a favour and asks for a trade if they can't put together a team good enough to be better than a play-in team.
Until they get moved, I don't see any PFs Spurs missed out on.
