I don't think we will ever know the full truth but Pop should have done whatever it took to keep KL and his uncle happy. This is a player's league so Pop needs to get over himself. Nobody watches the Spurs to see him coach.
In fairness tho, he was out of rhythm a lot cause he wasn't involved a lot. Some was on him, but some was on Kawhi. There's nothing wrong with asking a guy to become more of a playmaker and expand his game to make his teammates better. Like I said, Lebron/Harden get their points/assists.
Edit: like how hard would it be to run the p&r or pick & pop? Something so simple would've made Kawhi more dangerous too

If Kawhi goes to either LA team, then I don't think there's much the Spurs could have done to keep him..if he remains in Toronto, then we'll really have to re-examine everything
Those tweets are full of twit. It is a known fact Kawhi was injured. There is no honest question about that. The only legitimate argument would be about the severity and the rehab.
Nor do you change an NBA offense by "suggesting" it at an offseason meeting. You change it by designing plays and practicing them.

I think he stays in toronto if they win the championship. It will be the best thing for his people and his brand. Kawhi wining mvp/fmvp. That will shut up all of kawhi's haters and critics. Imo if he is about winning a championship, Toronto looks like the best option, they're the perfect counter to the Warriors on paper. If they chip he'd he a God in Toronto.

it's not about Kawhi or LaMarcus, it's that both of them should've been paired with a PG who can break down the defense. Especially LA would benefit from that and Kawhi also cause he can play more offball. Even Danny Green would've looked way better, as you see on the Raptors now. They had to play with an over the hill Tony Parker. An All-Star PG like Kemba was the missing piece

Pop loved Kawhi and it was obvious. While the world gushed about curry, Durant, james, harden, Pop said that in his opinion Kawhi is the best player in the league because of how he does it on both ends of the court. Pop Is not one to praise his own player in front of media very often but he loved Kawhi and we all knew it. Even in the champions revealed video you can tell he loves Kawhi because of his demeanor. Very spurlike at ude. No flash all substance.
PATFO has their issues but they aren't dumb enough to alienate their future superstar. The problem was that the superstar pushed them away and was influenced by his family.
He was on his way to winning an MVP if not for this mysterious injury, he was on a team that had just made the WCF, and he was the star player and he was on his way to a supermax. How this thing broke down is just mind boggling.
