To me, it's worse when the kids are at risk.

The people who do what we might expect to see in the future you are on the molecular biology end. Every virus could be called novel.
The people who study viruses are called, virologists. They can overlap, but these are the people who are important in proposing a proper test, proposing a proper vaccine. Somebody has to figure out how the virus itself works on a molecular level.

I didn't suggest testing was a solution to a pandemic, I said they would be useful, as soon as we can get them.
They are incredibly important.
If you know a person with clear symptoms and you have an accurate test you can go back and find out who they have been in the closest contact with and specifically test these people. We can find out so much working backwards.
You dont need to test people who have just have a runny nose as seems to be presented. Or just want to be tested for the of it.

Trump has no good faith basis for saying the fatality rate is way under one percent, that COVID-19 is no different from the seasonal flu, and that it's ok to go to work if you're sick.
If the WHO estimate is wrong, the responsible thing to do isn't to make up a number and announce it on TV.
Yeah, even if people just have allergy symptoms, I'm probably gonna keep my distance. Better safe than sorry.
