Bo Hines harmonized US crypto policy with his private financial interests, while working in the White House
https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/...hare_permalinkLawmakers and executives crowded into the East Room of the White House in July 2025 to watch President Trump sign the Genius Act, a landmark crypto bill that set rules for selling stablecoins pegged to the U.S. dollar.
From a podium, Trump rattled off thank-yous to the law’s architects. “Where’s Bo Hines?” he asked. The president’s 29-year-old crypto adviser rose from the front row to applause.
What most people in the room didn’t know: While Hines was leading the White House’s push to pass the Genius Act, Tether—the company with the most at stake in the legislation—was steering millions of dollars to a business he co-owned, according to messages, internal do ents and payment records reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
Hines exchanged Signal messages showing that while he was in the White House, he took part in a group chat with his company partners, where he discussed legislative developments and relayed Genius Act talking points as his partners were communicating with Tether’s chief executive.
Once the bill was signed, Tether hired him—to run its U.S. operations.
Hines had started Nxum, a small consulting firm, with his father and another partner around 2022. Each owned one-third. He stepped back from day-to-day management of the company when he joined the administration in early 2025 but kept his ownership stake, his government ethics disclosures show.
Weeks after Hines began working on stablecoin legislation inside the White House, Nxum, which had only dabbled in crypto until that point, started pursuing business with Tether, the world’s largest stablecoin issuer.
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who is legally not allowed to have any managerial role with the company yet still has remarkable amounts of inside knowledge into its goings on, has tweeted that Tether and Circle have frozen around $1.8B
(he's just a shareholder, you see)
https://financefeeds.com/binance-hac...circle-freeze/About $3.3 billion in crypto left Binance hot wallets on Ethereum on Thursday evening in what blockchain data, block explorer Etherscan and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao now describe as a likely hack. Binance itself has not yet confirmed a breach.
The transfers drained ETH, stablecoins and more than 60 other tokens from two Binance hot wallets within 20 minutes. Trackers following the activity across six blockchains put total movement at as much as $3.55 billion. Tether and Circle have since frozen about $1.8 billion of the stablecoins involved.
apes all gone
https://www.citationneeded.news/binance-theft/Stablecoin issuers froze about $2.4 billion of the roughly $5.5 billion stolen. The rest may exceed Binance’s insurance fund, and the man promising to make users whole isn’t supposed to be running the company.
It will never stop being funny that Crypto's starting PR was all about getting away from the regulated banking system and irrevocable final payments and now its run by centralized en ies freezing tokenized fiat currency denominated negotiable certificates of deposits because of fraud
"I want a currency free of the strong hand of central government bankers".
"Instead I want the strong hand of ... venture capitalists, human traffickers, and ...the DPRK!?!?!?

No, you cannot have your money. But don’t worry, you can still give us money.
then we hand it directly to the DPRK
