If we were going to make a deal with the Lakers it would have happened already. I'm leaning towards a philly deal at this point.

if kawhi is healthy the lakers might as well give the spurs what they want.

hopefully the spurs trade him to philly though.

Kawhi really is a dumb bas tbh. He could get close to a LeBron like legacy if he went East. Almost any team he went to out East would automatically make the finals. He'd easily make 3 or 4 straight Finals appearances with the Celtics or Sixers.

He does need to show he's back. Especially since he missed so many games. Sooner or later your lies catch up with you.

they may have "considered" it but the impression i get is that it was never offered.
I think Lebron stepped in, said that wasn't necessary for him to sign and Lakers backed off...

It looks like it's now almost impossible for the Lakers to trade for Kawhi this summer unless they give every young asset they have. One has to wonder how this affects Kawhi's psyche? If faced with the proposition of playing for the spurs or opening up his list of teams so he can be moved this month I wonder what he'll do? I don't see any way he sits out next season. In a real sense the Lakers have kind of boxed him in.

at the moment, these signing have the fingerprints of GM lebron all over them.
What I was thinking. They're all terrible.

If he sits out next season that would devalue his upcoming chances of getting a big contract. It would be 2 seasons of inactivity.

The Lakers’ moves mean any hypothetical deal at this point would require Deng’s contract to be included. No move will be made this summer. L.A. will wait for Kawhi’s free agency in 2019; meanwhile, the gloves will come off between Kawhi and the Spurs.

How is singing Rondo and Lance signs of a longer term rebuild?

I get that they are 1 year deals but they're clearly trying to make a run this upcoming season
Because it gives them a ton of flexibility to sign Kawhi and another near max player next summer. That team is going to be nasty as in 2019-20.

Saw the same things when Durant went to GS from Spur fans.
The Warriors didn't follow up that signing by throwing tons of money at Rondo and Lance in 2018.

Maybe, because Kuzma is supposedly unavailable and Ingram and picks more than likely isn't going to get it done. Ball for Isaac or Jackson, with whichever going to the Spurs.

Also, a Rondo-Stephenson backup back court makes no sense.
Rondo intends to compete for a starting spot...

Lebron stepped in and the Lakers pulled that offer and are back to hard ball, which has been reinforced in leaks that the Spurs are receiving offers that are worse than b4.
So a bunch of crap. Glad RC told them to off.

On the other hand…at present, there isn’t a whole lot of proven perimeter shooting on that Laker roster.

if healthy, leonard becomes the best player in the east. surely, philly has to relish that possibility.
Not to mention the gamble that a change of scenery and year with them could get him to re-sign. George was supposedly LA bound last year.

I don't think he wants Philly at all. Too much PR/face of the franchise/leading the young guys stuff. I believe that is one of the major issues underlying this whole fiasco. He wants to be second banana to LeBron, who will let him shine on the court and be overlooked by the media while winning championships.
