There were a lot of callbacks in this episode. The fly, the shot of Walt sliding backwards into frame for the scan, the punched paper towel dispenser, the dripping faucet/wind charm/bug (formerly snail) crawling along the wall from season 2's black & white cold opens, and... I think there was at least one other thing that jumped out of me. Not to mention Walt and Jesse reminiscing about the Bounder. Seemed a very intentional device to quickly sum up and/or remind viewers of all that's happened thus far and the sense that it's all been building toward something so that the final eight can all be resolution.

Feels very strongly as though the build up is done. Which is good, on one hand, as it at least somewhat promises to give a good deal of time to tying up loose ends. But it's also somewhat bittersweet, as I really do think it signifies an end to looking backwards. Any hope of flashbacks explaining Gus' early years, or his life in Colombia, or any additional Mike back story, is likely for naught.

When I think about it, this show is about grey matter. Walt does have evil intentions but it makes sense. If he kills Jesse, it no longer makes sense as Jesse was the one that helped him get in the business in the first place. Hank and the DEA are an arrogant bunch. How can you root for them?

What's the purpose of the two part season and long break? They are getting 3 more episodes out of the deal rather than the standard 13. Hardly seems worth a year lay off. If they were going to pick it back up in the winter, it would make more sense. They might as well film another complete season if we're going to wait this long.
