Looks like we set a new record for highest heat index ever recorded in San Antonio at 116
I can't do it. When you live there for so long, it becomes part of life and you adjust/adapt to it. I remember my glasses always fogging up every time stepping out of my vehicle, even with anti-fog coatings. You really can't explain it to someone who has never lived in it or experienced it. But, when the humidity strikes up, it will always trigger memories of San Antonio.
My electric bill here is roughly $1 grand a month during summer. Even with drastically lower energy prices, I'm curious to what my electric spend would be with CPS. The last summer I lived in San Antonio, we had a 2-story, 1,500 foot town home on that nice golf course by Wurzbach Parkway between Perrin Bietel, Nacadoches and Wetmore and I never went over $350 in 2009 money and I blasted til we were down to 69 at night time (impossible to achieve during the day, I swear).

Oops we hit 117 heat index today
Definitely the hottest day so far. sucks.
Third time in the last four days we have set a record for highest heat index ever recorded in San Antonio.
Ugh this ridge is supposed to back off west a little on Thursday and Friday allowing us to drop to around 100, but then it's supposed to build right back to what it is now and stick around until at least early July

This is severely biting into my ability to exercise properly... (He says as other people suffer inside their houses trying to stay still as possible with fans going)
This really a truly sucks. On the other hand, who is gonna wanna move here besides rattlesnakes... Maybe people will actually be able to buy houses as a migration out occurs.
Have fun, but be reasonable and listen to your body. If I ever got dizzy or faintheaded I hope I would get off of my bicycle and attempt to walk on the sidewalk, helmet on. I do about 60 miles/wk on the bike.
Sunday and today were pretty hot.
My general rule of thumb is to not to exceed 35 minutes of usage, we'll see how it goes this summer. I've got weekend soccer games on top. First one was ok, god bless the 10 am start time.
How "cool" you get to play soccer!
I have friends in Austin playing in leagues. One participated in the indoor leagues as well but he tore his ACL. He said it was very quick and more ball skills.
I wont participate again as I just dont have the skills. And rec leagues in San Antonio just dont come close to Austin.
The bike in the evening just does not work on pavement of large surface area around you. It just holds too much heat. I just get hot air flowing past me and basically get air fried so I retreat to the biking/running/walking system the Greenway Trails. Vegetation around you is definitely better than pavement that holds eat. Early morning is tough for me schedule wise. Lunch and after work. And part of the problem is that I think I work too well in heat and that I cant take enough water in. It takes me so long to rehydrate as given by urination color. And I just dont get enough warning signs. If I get dizzy I will definitely stop. The pool at lunch has saved me but sometime it does not agree with what is happening at work.
Nonetheless it is miserable but I think I am probably addicted to exercise.
Do you prehydrate? Drinking a lot of water before can help quite a bit. Himalayan salt water can help too to rehydrate
ing , NOAA is forecasting 105 from Sunday through Tuesday
JFC is this actually going to be a worse summer than last?
Everytime EN comes it is going to be like this it looks like. Just be glad you're not in Houston now that the gulfstream is too south to deflect the storms that form off from Africa away from the Gulf.
82 for sleeping is lunacy. Jeez when I'm camping in the mountains I don't even zip up my sleeping bag unless it drops into the mid 20s.
Yeah NOAA's forecast is grim as . Sunday 104, Monday 105, Tuesday 105.
Ugh last year was record breaking, hottest summer ever recorded in San Antonio, and we had three days of excessive heat warnings. This year we have already had seven and it's only the first day summer FML.
Looks like Austin might get another evening shower blowing through tonight. Crazy how the lawn is still green and I haven't done a regular watering yet.
I know zero people that turn the AC up when they go to sleep. I can't sleep in sweaty sheets
My lawn is getting pretty brown now in unshaded areas. Also in my neighborhood...

Was thinking the same thing this morning. Just a matter of a few weeks before everything will be brown again I'm guessing with this torrid heat
lol I was thinking of patching some thin spots earlier this month because it had been so mild and wet. Now I gotta time the last real mowing of the summer so I don't die.
I'm timing it for October
