I was in a local metal band called MurderDethFuK. I played the tambourine.
The Police aren't a reggae band. Neither are 311.

Thats a sweet name
Dude, don't argue with me about The Police. They weren't a full fledged reggae band but they created the "white reggae". Regatta de Blanc. translation=white reggae. There's one main element that makes reggae, reggae. Can anybody guess what that is?
I wasn't really in a metal band but if I was ever in one that would be the name. If I was in a ska band the name would be The Sticky Footprints.
I was in a local metal band, too. I played the cowbell.
between the buried and me are cool. great musicians. sometimes they get a little too technical for me.
There are many elements that make reggae music. Plus the Police didn't create white reggae. UB40 is the original white Reggae band and they played nothing but reggae music as opposed to The Police that played a wide array of musical styles.
of course. you alway have it on.
You love me.
Well what is it? I want to know what kind of knowledge of Reggae music you have.
Midge is a published music writer. Don't with him.
UB40? Come on now. I hope you didn't base you assumption on Red, Red Wine WHICH WAS A NEIL DIAMOND COVER!!!!!!!!. The Police started in 77. UB40 in 1980. If you knew what the MAIN element of reggae was you would realize how off your statement was. "UB40 is the original white Reggae"![]()
The Clash disagree.
No I'm not. I'm basing it on all the music they were producing since the late 70's. And just because they covered a Neil Diamond song doesn't make them less Reggae. Tony Tribe covered that same song in 1969 and it never made a dent in any music scene outside of Jamaica.
Im out of this one, the only reggae I listen to is Taj Mahal
The Clash did do reggae covers in their career but didn't play Reggae exclusively. The reason I brought up UB40 is because that is all they play. They are a true Reggae band. The Clash played punk and rock tunes as well as Reggae covers.
are you serious? then i would have fired him for saying that UB40 was the original white reggae band.
Yes, I am serious. How is it that you have such a hard time accepting that people in here are writers?
Midge streams nonsensical nonsense while he skims Encyclopedia Britannica while passing his time at the library.
Don't pay him no mind.
Frankly, I had to wikipedia UB40 and the first stuff they put out was in 1980.
They got together in the 1978 and played their first gig in 1979. That is the late 70's.
