I've watched Matt Bonner play basketball for the last 4+ years... I'm worth twice as much as he is.

You are certainly en led to your opinion, but if you are simply making statements based on your hatred for a certain player instead of using actual facts or statistics I think it is unfair. Every team has an "unpopular" player who's fan base enjoys making a scapegoat and Bonner is ours. Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing that Bonner is a great player or even a great role player - but I'm just saying that I don't feel that Frye is any better and I'm wondering if maybe Frye is (or will quickly become) Phoenix's "unpopular" scapegoat.

Frye is pretty horrible too. He has 2-3inches on bonner but hes pretty soft as well. All in all I wouldnt want either player on the spurs.

Wild idea, can Bonner play the 3?
There's only one team that I like Bonner defending the 3 and thats against the Lakers. Matt Bonner was our best match-up against Ron Artest who otherwise bullies the other Spurs players around the paint and uses his strength/size to get easy points and boards. When Bonner was put on him, the Red Rocket's size nullified Artest's strengths and he's not fast enough to exploit Bonner. Artest also doesn't get whistles in his favor so Bonner can play his usual defense without too much hassle.

But that was the only notable SF that I saw Bonner defend against well.

Bonner would be a great three to have for a big lineup if the 4 and 5 could actually block shots and patrol the lane. Unfortunately the Spurs haven't had that since Rasho left. At this point, Bonner is on the floor as much for his height as for his three point shooting, which is why he gets more work defending great bigs in the post than he should.

If Artest decides to drive it everytime it could be a slaughter feast. Besides, Phil is not stupid, he can just put in Odom and gameover.

I also noticed this when I re-watched that last spur/laker game a few days ago...
also noticed that when PJ put odumb in---RJ pretty much had his way with odumb and those two match-ups actually were big in the spurs winning that game convincingly.

It is too bad that phoenix was a nightmare match-up because the spurs/lakers series would have been really compe ive.

Free agent swingman Wesley Matthews has signed a five-year, $34 million offer sheet with the Blazers, according to his agent.

The deal is frontloaded (a whopping $9.2 million next year) but not necessarily "toxic," and the Jazz have a week to match the offer. Matthews is a pesky defender and his offensive game is still growing -- he has 3-point range and averaged 13.2 points in the playoffs last season.

    Looks that way.

    James Jones
    Raja Bell

Seem to be all that's left.

From undrafted to getting paid more than the number 1 overall pick.

I don't really understand the fit of Matthews on Portland. They have Roy, Batum, Fernandez, Bayless, Babbitt and Elli0t who can all play a wing position. Now they want to add Matthews? Um, okay ... I guess it wasn't just Pritchard who had no regard for how a team fits together.

But I'm happy for Matthews. Great story.

    P.S.

So much for Splitter and Matthews splitting the MLE

    P.P.S.

Not laughing at anyone in particular ... I wouldn't have thought splitting the MLE that way was impossible prior to the crazy contracts handed out once free agency began.

Given all the headaches they've had with Fernandez, I think it's possible they'll look to move him now.

He's making $1.2M, so I wonder if a trade of a couple unguaranteed contracts (Hairston/Jerrells) would do it.
