Well, assuming the Kirilenko thing falls through, is there any other 3/4 out there of interest? The free agent market has kind of dried up.
Probably not any that would be better than Danny Green filling in there while Kawhi is either on the bench or playing the 4.

The Spurs success came through the draft, not free agency. The Spurs won't be in serious contention when Duncan retires so signing game changing free agents will most likely be out of the question. It would even suprise me to see the Spurs trade Parker for building blocks and draft picks to keep the rebuilding process short and sweet.
a likely scenario. that will be the start of a whole new process. nevertheless, the spurs could luck out in a future lottery and then use the future cap space to potentially lure a big name (it will not be a lebron or a melo but that is really more a reflection of the member as opposed to the set). it is still possible that future free agents could sign for smaller markets.

a secondary question would be which team other than miami has won as a result of a major free agency coup ? (lakers failed last year, clips have seen success but have been pretty terrible in the playoffs, knicks have failed...and dallas won because of dirk and the addition of what were then 2nd tier signings, bulls failed miserably with ben wallace which at the time was supposed to be a big signing). we'll see what the rockets do (and when you think about it , although h-town is big TV market it has not been the traditional draw for big names either).

    1) AK47 is coming off a season with ~20 DNPs. I wanted him, but it's not like he's an example of rock solid health.

    2) In all of this, we still have no idea how much AK wants to be here and how much he wants to play here.
    1. This has nothing to do with health, notice I wrote, "DNP-CDs". Let's not pretend that there is equality between someone missing 20 games due to injury and someone being a scrub 11th man who despite being healthy will never play without injuries to players in front of him or garbage time.

    2. We know that AK/AK's agent and the Spurs were far enough along in their mutual interest that the only thing holding it up was Minnesota's front office. That's enough.

Miami isn't small market in any sense whatsoever. Its a houston sized city to begin with, has the fanbase of all southern florida, and is a major international city. On top of that there's the whole glamor factor...
Seriously, people don't get stabbed, shot, murdered and raped with that kind of regularity in a small market! This is Miami we're talking about!

Yea, just checked. Miami has the highest violent crime rate of any city over 500,000 people in the USA.

Seriously, if you've never been to Miami, the place is a hole.

Hey guys, this is an AK47 Interview I found online. I though you guys might be interested to read some of his answers.

Among current free agents who previously were linked to the Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves free-agent forward Andrei Kirilenko downplayed the Heat as an option in an interview with Russia's "Sports Express." According to the translation at Hoopshype.com, Kirilenko said, "I don't want to confine myself in any way. But in general, do you want to go to a team where LeBron James is playing at your position? Or to Oklahoma with Kevin Durant? That almost certainly means quietly ending your career. I still feel I'm capable of making a real contribution." South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Have you contemplated a return to CSKA? Andrei Kirilenko: 99 percent certain I will stay in the NBA. But who knows what might happen. What if all 30 teams in this league decide they don't want me?

When do you plan to make a decision on your future? Andrei Kirilenko: I am not in a rush. A year ago, because of the Olympics I signed my contract very quickly. This time I can take my time. I'm planning to send my son to a sports summer camp and want to spend some time there myself. I will start training for next season at the start of August. You still have not answered my question. Andrei Kirilenko: I will figure out my future somewhere between July 10 and September 29. The sooner that happens the better. To know for sure what to do, and where to move, if needed be. Not everything depends on me, that is why it is pointless to speculate on when. Sport Express

Andrei Kirilenko: I didn't see the point (in exercising my option). A year from now the situation would have been the same. For me and my family it's uncomfortable to be left hanging. It's bad for the people close to you to have to wonder all the time, "Do we have to move at the end of the season?" So this is purely a strategic decision. I want to sign a longer-term contract. That doesn't mean I'm definitely leaving Minnesota, I really like it here. I like everything, except the length of the deal. Sport Express

How many years are you looking for - three, four? Andrei Kirilenko: (laughing) I would like more than one. I'm sure I can play at a high level for three seasons more, at minimum. After that, maybe, I'll be forced to think about the veteran minimum. But what will be in three years, who knows? Before, I used to think my career would end at 30. But now I'm 32, and I still feel strong and full of the desire to play. Sport Express

Is your decision to opt out connected to the desire to play for a team with a better shot at contending? Andrei Kirilenko: Of course, it's always better to play on a strong team. But for me the atmosphere within the club is very important. The situation in Minnesota is terrific. In that respect I'm very lucky. And the current team, I think, is capable of achieving a lot more than it did last season, when we were out of the playoff race early. Sport Express

Again...Market size is determined by Households in the DMA or Designated Market or Media Area.

Obviously NY is #1 and LA is #2

The smallest market in the NBA is New Orleans.

Here is a link to All the DMA Markets. If Toronto was in the US, they'd be around #5 just ahead of Dallas.

We flew to Miami for game 2 of the finals and the city was dirty and mainly ghetto. The only parts that I liked we're the beaches.

Why is it that Miami-Ft Lauderdale is the #18 US DMA but Miami-Ft Lauderdale-West Palm Beach is the #8 US MSA?

I didn't read it that way. Just seems like he doesn't want to play >10m backing up a superstar.
