“No, it’s not over,” one source said. “I just felt like he committed on impulse. USC was super aggressive with their approach, and he felt like it was a great opportunity, so he committed.”
“USC just made me feel like there was a place I needed to be,” he said. “They presented a great opportunity, so I committed.”
“He thinks the world of Texas,” a source close to the recruitment said. “His mom is in love with the school, the staff, and everything the program stands for, especially what it can do for him long term.”
“Coach Baker is real,” Winfield said. “I know he can develop me not just as a player, but as a man. That’s important to me.”
“His mom would love for him to stay closer,” a source said. “She wants to be able to support him in person, be able to be close if he needs anything. That means something to both of them.”
“I’m close to my mom,” he said. “It would be cool if she could see me play without flying across the country every week.”
“SMU, Alabama, Miami, Notre Dame. Those teams are really applying pressure,” a source said. “They are trying to get Jaimeon to reconsider, and I think it’s wise for him to at least listen. USC will need to recruit him all the way until pen hits paper.”
