Answer whenever, but I am asking now.

What next, tournament wise I mean?

Is it: we play one more game and have to win that in order to qualify for the Olympic qualifying tournament next year?

We play a game against Germany today. If we win, we play a game for 5th place. If we lose, we play a game for 7th place. Seventh place is enough for the tournament.

About the game, I don't know what to say. I mean I do, but I'm emotionally empty at the moment.

Rasho finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. He was a monster in defense.

    Thanks for explaining.

I feel you about the game.

I am angry I missed seeing it ( stupid work!)& I am crushed we lost.
Also, I hate that no one in my house gets why I am not a happy camper right now. To my house mates, basketball is just a game.

Anyway, I hope our team beats up on Germany again. That would make me feel a tiny bit better.

I am so proud of Sho. Very, very proud. He was amazing.

I'm proud of the whole team.

As much as it stings right now, especially since we had a lead and lost it... still, we almost beat Greece-the defending champions,.

I feel the same now as I did when the Spurs almost came back and beat the Mavericks in '06.

I'm proud of the team's effort- am just sorry for the guys that it wasn't enough.

I've been watching these games and I was rooting for Slovenia to pull off the miracle and qualify for the Olympics. Slovenia plays good team ball and it's impossible to root against a tiny country that doesn't even have most of it's best players.

Slovenia had the game in the bag if they would have continued to execute their offense. They let the Greeks rattle them and just melted down in the fourth quarter. Even defensively, Slovenia was playing not to lose instead of to win.

Rasho played well. He could have called for the ball a little bit more late in the game but most of that blame goes to the guards.

I've been impressed with Dragic and think he may have NBA potential down the line. He was one of the better defensive guards in the tourney.

Overall, good showing by Slovenia. Nothing to be ashamed of. Spain in the next game would have been extremely tough even if Slovenia would have beaten Greece.

Next summer I think Slovenia should keep this same group of players. Beno, Brezec and Vujacic shouldn't even be asked to play. The only other Slovenian that should be considered is Nachbar ... and even he has shown that he isn't the clutchest of players.

Props to Slovenia and hopefully you guys can qualify for the Olympics next summer

I think a lot of basketball fans became fans of this Slovenian team. The guards got so rattled late in the game but Lakovic is the one that bothers me the most because he is the vet. Rasho played his heart out today. As I said in the thread, it is one of the best overall games that I have ever seen him play. He was playing with all of his heart and his soul and I am truly devastated for him. They have 1/2 a day to rest and regroup for the early game Saturday. They can still qualify for the Olympic qualifying tournament-- which 2 weeks ago many thought they had no chance for. But Rasho has believed in this team-- he has seen something in them that others have not. You have no idea how much I wanted this for him. Plus, I really wanted to see Slovenia and Rasho play Spain and Jose and Garbo...

As to the game, I think Pipan won't go to Rasho late in the game because of his free throw shooting. As to the team, I do not want Brezec and his awful defense and I am glad Beno sat out, as we got to see Dragic play.

See everyone in a few hours.

I am sorry but Greece did not impress me today except for 2 minutes. I think Spain will destroy them.

I agree. I sincerely think that Dragic is better than Udrih, especially considering his balls and determination. At 21 he is miles ahead at ball control and defense. He needs to work on his offense though. Dragic is projected as "Second round to undrafted" on 2008 draft, but I think his value will go up and he WILL be drafted at least.

Vujacic is a joke, but I think Brezec and Beno will be called up. I don't want to see that, but I think it will happen. However I only hope Beno will end as the 3rd PG. Nachbar is a lock and I don't see problem with him. He is a streaky player, very hot/cold.

The guards got so rattled late in the game but Lakovic is the one that bothers me the most because he is the vet.
He is in the worst form of his career, there is no doubt about that. He is probably still better than Beno, but Lakovic is at 60% of the real Lakovic and has been such for a year. Anyway, everyone wonders what instructions coach gave before the last 7 seconds. It's either his fault or Lakovic's fault for the most stupid play of the game we saw after the timeout.

    Thanks for these words.

Dragic surely has an NBA future as his ballhandling, speed and defense are very good. He stopped the likes of Parker several times.

And Vujacic doesnt exist anymore and he be Kobe's bunk buddy for his whole life as far as i am considered.

What do you think about Smodis, could he play a role for a team in the playoffs? Something like Oberto per say.

    He stopped Nowitzki...

One thing guys... noone mentioned what Rasho said about the officials.

Things like it is hard to play against 8 players etc.

He said officials let Greeks play much more rough than they did them.

That Lakovic and Dragic were getting a beating and no fouls were called.

Coach said it's his fault. The last play was supposed to be a pick'n'roll by Lakovic, after which he was supposed to find either Rasho (deep) or Smodis (wide).

Well in reality Lakovic was just standing there for 6.66 seconds. If he wouldn't freeze Rasho and Smodis were chosen for the job.
    Rašo Nesterović, košarkar Slovenije
"Vse je bilo dobro, dokler niso sodniki dovolili grobe igre. Nam niso piskali nič, mi pa smo dobivali močne udarce - še posebej Dragić in Lakovič. Sramota je za Fibo, ker že naprej določi, kdo bo zmagal. V zadnjem napadu Grčije sem skušal ubraniti napad Papaloukasa, vendar se ga ne smeš dotakniti, ker je nad njim takoj dosojen prekršek. Naš zadnji poskus se ni razpletel, kot smo se dogovorili v minuti odmora. Tekmo smo izgubili že veliko prej, ko smo vodili za velikih 16 točk."
The game was under control until officials didn't change the way they blowed their whistle - nothing for Slovenia, regardless of strong hits Dragic and Lakovic started getting. 10 seconds to go I tried to stop Papaloukas, but you can't touch him, everything is a foul when it comes to this player (he was EL MVP, btw). Our last try was not like we planned it during our last timeout. We lost the game much sooner, when we were +16.

BTW, I wish Vujacic would stop being mentioned in the same sentence with "Slovenia". The NBA superstar hasn't played one single game for Slovenia (only before he went to NBA for U21 I think). He is not Slovenian.

You can't allow to lose 16 point advantage in five minutes, bad refs or not. Heck, had we managed to execute once in that time, we would've won.

I think some of Sho's statement is his ( understandable) disappointment talking.

I should get to see about ten minutes of this game with Germany before I have to go.
