I'm no mathematician, but 90% of $108M still far exceeds the max $80M the Spurs could offer. It's not equal.

LaMarcus could take a risk and go with the 4yr deal with player options in the latter two, but a pay bump in yrs 3/4 aren't guaranteed...risk of severe injury or decline. Not saying he won't do it. But, on this deal alone the Spurs will be outbid by the Blazers.
Yeah, that is why I mentioned the 5th year as being a big factor. The only way the Spurs can match the Blazers is if they put in a player option after the 1st year and resign him next for another 4 year deal, which he probably make more because of the cap increase and the max amount going up because of the increase cap.

It wouldn't be too risky for LMA as he can just sign a four deal (guarantee) with a player option after the 1st. So if he had an injury this coming season, he wouldn't to negatively effected by it financially.

Other teams like LA wouldn't want to give him a 2nd year PO because he might not like playing there and just bolt (just happen with Howard). I am sure the Spurs are confident LMA would love playing in their system.

Player options can only be for the final year of a contract. Aldridge would have to sign a two year deal to have a player option after next season. Given his age and health history that's very unlikely.

What's the max the Spurs can pay Green if they get LaMarcus?
Depends on what the revised luxury tax limit is.
They can pay Danny whatever they want. Like Fuzzy said they may not want to pay luxury tax though. It Holt is ok with LT, no limit on what they can pay DG up to his max.

My biggest concern about Aldridge is that hater likes him, tbh..

The hater curse is frightening, it never fails, just look at what he did to JR Smith just a few weeks ago..

Danny is not worth the money if we don't have a penetrating PG who can get defenses to collapse and begin to chase.
Parts have to fit for him.

They wheel in a big merengue cake and Manu leaps out. "Yes, I'll sign! I'll sign!" Aldridge cries in joy.

Probably spotted on a plane going to LA. Don't blame him. TP, TD, Pop, RC, Kawhi and Manu will probably kicking for a couple days together in LA. I wouldn't be surprise if LMA joined them on a few excursions after the meeting.

A good sign indeed - we've never seen this sort of push from the Spurs in recruiting. This is truly the last rodeo.
