Good to know that the Spurs were (most likely) one of the 2 teams following BaynesAccording to his agent, Baynes' performances have caught the eyes of several NBA general-managers. "There are two Western Conference teams closely following Aron"
Not saying they had anything to do with each other but this coinciding with the Varejao needing surgery news, I wonder if the Spurs were interested in a trade and this was one of their back up plans.

I would like to salute this fine forum and its evaluation of talent!
Seeing as the Spurs FO is undoubtedly the best in the biz for sizing up European players, the people involved in championing Baynes can legitimately feel pretty smug. Kudos to you all.
Fantastic thread!
We have some real Spurstradamas like prognosticators here.
So psyched at the addition to this team!!!
Fine work people. We got it over the line.
You guys are pretty damn good for scouting this out. Major props.
Is his game somewhat similar to nikola pekovic?
Bruno, getting some love on Spurs Nation blog. Enterprising Poster.

Good, ace3g also deserves props for believing in him immediately and following him over these couple of months.
I doubt he has the touch around the basket and scoring ability that Pekovic has.
I put this post in a thread on the general board with links to Baynes game footage.
Why did this have to come back and bite me in his first game
Another thing I had noticed in footage from overseas, was that while he is boxing out a guy near the FT line, he doesn't start to move toward the basket to look for the rebound, and it was something he did tonight as well.
We should probably revisit your concerns in a month or two. Dude was star struck/nervous yesterday in very limited game action
BTW have contract details been provided yet? I didn't see them in the other forum posts.
30 pts/10 reb in 30 minutes tonight
Is he good to go against Brooklyn?
Or was that injury in Detroit serious?

San Antonio Spurs center Aaron Baynes informed that he will not play with Australia in FIBA Oceania Championships. Baynes suffered from an hamstring injury.
Just curious- what is the tourney format in fiba oceania? There is only Australia and New Zealand playing. Does New Zealand even have a formidable team? Baynes may not be needed at all.
Not really, both get through, its to help determine seedings. THere are other counties in Oceana, but seriously, they would be lucky to score let alone win.
