This game is noticibaly different than 2k8. lockdown defense is harder to do, shots seem to go in more often. Kobe is the freakin GOAT in this game.

the game play is also a lot slower than 2k8.

overall i can actually say im a little dissapointed. maybe i just gotta play some more and get used to it.

I played against my friend who sucks at video games. He had Kobe, and JESUS CHRIST. They just made him the most ridiculous player ever. This guy didn't even know how to play the game and put up 58 with Kobe.

    - Does 2k9 have each arena's own crowd and announcers ("D-troit basketbaaaall" , " Go Spurs Go ", etc....) like it was in 2K8?

    - How about the personal celebrations ? (Kobe spreading wings, VC doing the " motorcycle" gesture, TP pumping both fists after getting fouled, etc....)... still there?

Yes, and they've added more stuff, like Nelson (from Simpsons) laughing when you miss a FT on the road, race car noises in Indy, etc... There's too much stuff to list

After several games for 360 -

    1) The player facial modeling is much more detailed, and there is pretty much no more sliding/popping around. Backing up with the bal (not backing down) used to be a joke with the glitches, now it seems real. Additionally, it used to be difficult to toe up a three point shot perfectly, often stepping on the line or being a step behind. It was especially problematic when trying to spot up in the corner. Now the player generally moves step by step, eliminating this pesty problem. Not only these, but most of the time, they actually lay the ball off the glass - I hated the weird teardrops from all close in from previous installments.

    2) The AI is much, much more responsive, but the thing I noticed most? The fact they actually spot up behind the 3 point line now

Additionally, the AI ingame uses a *few* less underhanded tactics compared to past generations. They used to run guys to the paint and just stick them there, or make impossibly hard passes (to even see them would be impossible) to the paint to cutters. Now they seem to run legitimate plays, and defense is affective most of the time.

    3) The shooting forms are even more realistic - daresay 2k8's werent really that realistic at all, compared to these. Additionally, the post moves seem much more refined and realistic. I found Tim spinning around guys, pump faking and doing up and unders, much better and more realistically than in 2k8. Even the jump hooks look better.

Overall, gotta give it a Definitely not just a roster update every week.

Scoring is way too easy. I remember when I scored 100 with LeBron on 2k8, I felt like I accomplished something. I could easily do that now.

first time playing online and this dude quits on me while i'm up 10 on him at the end of the 1st.

i connect again with another person and we go pretty much head-to-head until the very end when i hit the game winning 3 with manu with 0.4sec's remaining(won by 1pt). that was a good game but i can tell i am far from the level i want to be at. personally i feel like i am playing like a beginner and even though i haven't tracked many minutes in 2k9 i feel like i should be doing more like in 2k8. i guess with time i will learn this game fully.

    2k9 in' rocks!

The score is too easy on both sides. I'm going to have to spend some time with the sliders to level this game off a bit but from the 4 games I've played I'm impressed. The game is amazingly fluid if you can patiently move around instead of pounding fancy dribbling left and right. I love the ease of setting picks too.

While the scoring is easier than 2k8, I will be the first to say it is definitely an improvement. There was rarely a wide open layup in the half court offense - very unrealistic. Usually some player could get there and challenge the shot, and with fouls essentially turned off it made for less than appealing half court offense.

Additionally, oftentimes players who had less stature than yours -- even during fast break situations where they are simple standing there and your guys are full charge -- would block them, even with a very low block/defensive awareness rating. Now, players who usually are careless on D have been made so in the game, so those missed and open layups which SHOULD have been going in on 2k8, now do.

Also, with the much improved blocking (it used to be simply impossible to block a shot from behind unless you were very lucky) the easier layups are needed. Ive been swatting shots left and right with weak side defenders.

Does anyone else think that the graphics in 2k9 are far, far better than those in Madden? I know they are different franchises, but I feel there is a drastic disparity in quality between the two games. Madden looks like a cartoon by comparison, IMO.

One post move glitch. You can back down, pump fake (which picks up your dribble), then power dribble into a hop step.. AKA DOUBLE DRIBBLE!
