regular season is becoming boring to watch.......... wake me up when the playoffs start
MANNY! If only runners were on base.
Ethier pisses me off sometimes. He hits for home runs only, it seems.
Sorry....had to....
all good. that was a heart breaker but dodgers youngsters are a year older and billingsly and kershaw are coming into their own. should they meet again, i think the dodgers take the series. phillies offense is stacked but their pitching is horrible at best. dodgers offense is no slouch and wait til furcal, martin, and ethier starts playing well.
NL West is probably the only division decided already and no the rockies or giants will not win the division. one has no pitching while the other cant hit for
the Dodgers! Go Giants!!! But I have to admit the Dodgers are much better right now, depending on if the Giants can get a bat before the deadline. I'll always take pitching over hitting in the playoffs, and San Fran is better defensively. LA has the best manager in baseball though. Serious Edge to LA overall. And 7 games isn't insurmountable, especially since it's before the break!!
Would Dodger fans trade Kershaw, DeWitt and a couple other players for Halladay? I am on the fence about this one.
^yes. kershaw had a huge upside but he's ceiling is where halladay is. so y not go for a sure thing? if they want both kershaw and bill's no.
gotta make the playoffs to use that pitching man. starting pitching i give san fran the big edge but defense? loney is a stud at 1st, hudson is a gold glove winner along with martin, furcals got serious range and a cannon, blake has been good, kemp and ethier have range and sick arms. manny is the only weakspot on this line up.
think of it like this up the middle
martin, hudson, furcal, kemp
v
molina, uribe, renteria, rowland
dodgers are better
Yeah the Dodgers are the real deal no doubt about it....thats the team that scares me the most in the NL.
Theres rumors about both the Phllies and Dodgers landing Hallday...which ever team does is the favorites IMO.
Phils have to get into the Playoffs first. The NL East reminds me of the West last season.
They'll be alright...if they didnt hit that big time rough patch (aka the American League) no team would be close to them right now.
Once Ibanez gets back, and now J-Roll and Lidge are getting it together...they should definitely win the division.
First, it's Rowand, not Rowland. So I looked up the team stats and you're right. Dodgers Fielding pct is .988, Giants is .985. It's close. Total errors for Dodgers is 38, Giants is 45. Again close, both teams in top half of NL easily. As to your point on the Giants making the playoffs, they are positioned well because they're leading the wild card with a two game lead over the Rocks. Big ups to Sanchez for throwing the no-no tonight, and Rowand made another spectacular catch against the wall to preserve the no-hitter in the 9th. The NL west is finally a good division again, and it'll be a tough road for La/SF/Col down the stretch.
those are pretty close numbers defensively. i still think SF needs a big bat in order to have success down the stretch. i think its going to end like this
NL W - dodgers
NL C - Brewers
NL E - phillies
wild - cardinals
I agree w/ Dodger, Phillies picks, but I think the Cards win their division. As for the wild card, it's very early but I still believe it'll be the Giants or the Rocks. After them I would go with the Marlins. The NL central teams beat each other up too much for them to make a wild-card run.All of this speaks to how good the Dodgers really are by leading the best division in the NL(It pains me to say that).
I absolutely agree the Giants need a big bat, but Sanchez throwing the no-hitter puts a wrench in that because he had been the main bait in trade talk recently. Throw in Cain/Big Unit being hurt and I've got to think Sanchez is off the table. For once the Giants are loaded in the minors(even with position players) so they have options. Several of those guys are off the table, like Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner, but it leaves plenty of other guys they could dangle.
Is there talk of the Dodgers making any moves? I don't follow them closely but it seems another arm wouldn't hurt. What's the status of LAs farm system? I know it's always one of the best.
Not hearing much out of the farm.
Dodgers need a pitcher(Halladay would be a dream) Doubt they do trade for one, though. I think the Dodgers are staying put.
They better trade for at least one decent pitcher, if not their bullpen will be completely shot by the time the playoffs roll around. None of their starters can go past the fifth inning, it's sad. Kershaw has been amazing his last six starts though, it's time to ship him out with some other dudes for Halladay, that would put us way over the top.
whats wut with wade? is he ever going to regain his 2008 form? we need him to step up because bellasario and troncoso are running on fumes.
as far as starting pitching, if kuroda can work out his kinks from his injury, i think the dodgers are gonna stay put.
bills, kershaw, wolf, kuroda, are a solid 1-4 and the 5th guy can be anyone from milton or weaver to hold it down in the regular season. come playoff time, we wont need a 5th starter.
kershaw's value is as high as ever so the dodgers can offer him and a blake dewitt and toronto might be interested
wow - Halladay - Now that really wouldn't be fair. Is there legit talk out there for that deal? Yeesh. Just looked at his contract and he's making 14.25mil this year and around 15.75mil next year. Seems like a bargain to me. My guess would be that whichever team got him would have to be willing to sign him long-term and have the benjis to do it. He does have a no-trade clause but I doubt he'd say no to LA. Here's the contract:Roy Halladay rhp
3 years/$40M (2008-10)
- 3 year/$40M (2008-10)
- signed extension with Toronto 3/06
- 08:$10M, 09:$14.25M, 10:$15.75M
- award bonus: $0.125M for All Star selection
- no-trade clause
- Halladay to donate $100,000/year to Jays Care Foundation
- 4 years/$42M (2004-07)
- signed extension with Toronto 1 /04 (avoided arbitration)
- 04:$6M, 05:$10.5M, 06:$12.7M, 07:$12.8M
- $50,000 All-Star award bonus
- 1 year/$3.825M (2003)
- 3 years/$3.7M (2000-02)

Everyone is having talks with Toronto for Halladay.
It seems like everyone thinks the Phillies is Roy's most likely destination, which would kill me. That would guarantee those s another WS trip. I hope they sign Pedro and he is amazing for the next month so they don't go after Roy, then Pedro will out right after the deadline, that would be classic. If the Dodgers were to step up and get Roy I don't see anyone standing in their way in the NL.
if I am raptors I make sure Pierre is included in any dodger trade for halladay
They could have him. Dodgers paying way too much for a back-up outfielder there.
