Slovenian National Team (part V.)

Lakovic is what he is...an SG trapped in PGs body. I woud cut him, or use him only in limited role as a back up SG. But I'm not sure that he would be satisfied with that role.

On the other hand, he was always there for Slovenian NT, he never refused an invitation, he has never let his teammates down. That should count for something too, I guess.

I would also cut Jagodnik. His time has passed. Let Golemac and D. Lorbek (we'll need him in the future) do a back up job for Nachbar.

We also don't need Vidmar (his position is clogged with good players) and S. Udrih (plenty of better choices at his position).
Klobucar should stay (as a third stringer at SG). He is still young and wouldn't rock the boat if there will be no playing time for him.

Starting 5 should be:

PG Udrih B
SG Vujacic
SF Nachbar
PF Smodis
C Lorbek E.

Backups:

PG Dragic
SG Lakovic
SF Golemac
PF Slokar
C Brezec

Third string:
D. Lorbek
Klobucar

It looks like Vujacic is done. Knee injury that kept him from playing first two praparation games is getting worst.

I blame Phil Jackson for this one. Sasha played way to much this season.

To be honest... I won't miss Vujacic too much as I don't think he would bring a lot to the team. His best asset would probably be defense... but I can live with Dragic playing the defensive 2.

Vujacic is shooting worse and worse for the last 2 years. Why the would he all the suddenly be a sharpshooter? Check out his stats...

Furthermore we all know he is a superstar wannabe diva. That surely can't be good for the team atmosphere... I can't see how he and Smodis could get along very good. They are like day and night.

Udrih, Dragic, Nachbar, Smodis, Lorbek is a DAMN solid starting 5. Our bench is not too good but ... Anything is possbile if these 5 all play to their capabilites. Udrih and Dragic could be a great combo imo.

I'm not that sure about that. They both are leftys and they are offensively more successful on the left side of the court. They would get in the way of each other. Also they have the same weaknesses at shooting from the distance, especially Dragic.

Now I really miss Becirovic or Ozbolt.

Being the best among bad shooters doesn't really mean much...

And if I am honest I prefer Smoki shooting for 3 than Vujacic.

Who does Slovenia play on sunday? We (Macedonia) lost twice to you. Tonight we play against Slovakia. The NT is here in my town, I was at their training and also former Spur, Darius Washington joined the squad. I got a photo with him and I asked him how he felt playing for Macedonia. He is a good player, too bad it didnt work out in the NBA at the tryouts this summer.

I believe you, I wasn't there, i just went by the news on the page of our federation. In slovenia they like to exaggerate when it comes to attendance.
