Obviously, if she had some smalll items of yours in her room then there is proof in itself that she can't be trusted. Confront her about the small items and see what kind of reaction she gives to you when she realizes that you caught her in a lie.
As far as paying her for the vacation I would say no but then again you sound like better person than I am. good luck
Well, I waited until she left for the weekend to go through her room again. OMG!!! We hit the motherload!
That had stuff in between her mattresses!! She had a couple cameras, CD players, and jewelery in between the mattresses. She also had many of my high end clothes that still had tags on them rolled up in a sweatshirts. The best part was finding a whole black bag of valuable jewelry she had wrapped hidden in between a sweater. Yes, this was worth a lot, and it made me realize how much and for how long she had been stealing from us. I am telling you, this was a professional. I literally felt sick to my stomach.
She even had our stuff in her shoes! I kid you not. I found rolled up belts in her boots, and I even found one of my cell phones in her shoes as well. She had downloaded all her and had pics in it. Needless to say I was ing livid!!!! I was shaking I was so pissed off. I could go on, but it's been a very long day.
We packed all her in trash bags! I picked up her Mexico passport and her do ents and made copies of it and her social security card. I called the security guards up front and told them to barr her from entering and to take her name off our list. Thankfully, she had left the gate control so she couldn't use it to open the gate to our home in the event she somehow got passed the guards. But she did still have our keys.
When we went to pick her up, we retrieved the keys from her and told her she was fired for stealing and to GTFO. We told her we packed her in trash bags and when she could pick it up. She was Shocked! She looked like a ton of bricks just hit her. She was about to bawl, so we split.
That's the end of this awful story.

Yeah, I think she pawned many items and others she was probably waiting to take to Mexico with her for herself and her daughter. She was set to go back in August for her vacation. I am extremely disgusted and disappointed...

The lady has no money. I don't want to see her thrown in jail. I truly believe she will get her due. Most people get what they deserve. I also just want to close that bad chapter in our lives and start anew.
The one thing I'm going to do though is call that weather lady Shioban Anders (the red headed meteorologist) she recommended her to me 6 years ago. I need to let her know she's a thief before this lady gets another job with one of her friends. I just can't find her number it's been so long.

If you haven't done it yet: CHANGE YOUR LOCKS. Also, change any security alarm codes. I'd also put a credit lock on with all three bureaus. She doesn't have to steal the cards to get the numbers and she has your name and address. She could apply for credit if she got your card numbers.
All of this might seem like a hassle, but it's better safe than sorry. You had no idea what she was capable of. Are you sure you really know now?

Not to be a but the next person might not be able to handle the monetary aspects of a situation like this as well as you might have, or they may loose items that have more than monetary value, or God knows what else could happen, a thief typically winds up stealing bigger, more valuable items as time goes on.
She lives at the Dominion and I just found her number in my old agenda. I'm going to call her tomorrow and let her know because she has always wanted my lady to come back and help with Shioban's Mom who is a widow. I definitely have to warn her.
