mookie you do realize that Life Aquatic wasn't critically acclaimed right? Critics all thought it sucked. The only people who liked it were Wes Anderson fanboys, NYU film grads, and quasi-intellectuals who like to sit around talking about how it reminds them of Jean-Luc Godard. Actually the 3rd category is the exact same thing as the other two.

yeah that has been debated, the only thing i ever heard about it was that it a hilarious, dry, intelligent comedy with a cult following, it certainly wasnt berated by critics. my stupidass friends (who also love always sunny in philadelphia) all love the out of it. if im wrong, the critics were correct on this one, i maybe cracked one smerk after watching the entire film waiting for the funny part

you ting me? He lasted like twenty minutes into the movie and the emotion just seemed so forced when he shot himself in the stomach. Billy Bob carried almost every scene Heath was in.
His performance was the most memorable. That's not to say Billy Bob Thornton wasn't good. He was. But I've only seen 'Monster's Ball' once and Ledger was so good, I forgot he didn't have that much screen time.

Yes, I can tell you Pans is about. That was not only a visually stunning movie, but a pretty good story. The most simplistic way to explain it is a child developed an alternate reality in order to escape a violent and brutal world she lived in. Even her dream world was rough, but at least she had a chance to escape. But I can see why it would not be everyone. These are not the only movies I like, but I was listing what I thought were the best movies of the decade.

BTWPS, Life Aquatic if hilarious if you are not to cool for school. The part where they are going to rescue the "stooge" and they run through the swamp with leeches is so damn funny.

No mention of Training Day?? That was IMO Denzel Washington's best performance I have ever seen. He won an academy award for that role of Alonzo Harris.
Meh. I got tired of the angry "King Kong ain't got nothing on me(blah blah blah)" Philadelphia, Glory & Crimson Tide are his best films IMO.

It was just uneven and fairly boring in most parts, with some notable exceptions. Kinda like Burn After Reading.

Ironic, but I felt like Life Aquatic epitomized "too cool for school."

Haven't made it through the movie yet. First time I tried to watch it, it was 2am and I was tired, so I fell asleep. The second time I tried to watch it, it was 8pm, I wasn't tired... and I fell asleep.
