Yeah, because he'd have no way of knowing that playing for the NT was a bad idea the last time he did it. It's not like anyone else on the SPurs has ever been injured while playing for their NT before.
Ok, did I say something funny here? I dont think so. You dont think Tony is our top player? I said TOP, I didnt say BEST. Let's not go there again, yeaah yeahh i know duncan is our best, im not saying tony is.
So whats so funny? Isnt Tony a top player of the Spurs?
With Tony is Tony, I meant; we should know him by now and have some confidence, instead of over some ty article. Like ginobili fan said; Its surprising that some still don't know the guy well.

yeah, but that isnt what i was saying. I was just pointing out, that we shouldnt go all drama all of a sudden, just because this article.
Not going crazy.
The source of the quote is reliable.
Tony has every right to play this summer.
I believe that the Spurs should trade him while they still can get good value for him if he chooses the NT over resting the summer.
Tony made noise after the 07-08 season that the Spurs could only go one more season without major changes. He applauded the major changes made this past summer. One of the major reasons (not the only reason) for this disappointing season has been the significant decrease in Tony's level of play. Nagging injuries are largely responsible for his relatively poor performance. If he is fully committed to the Spurs, he'll rest this summer. If he's not, it's time to part company.
Plain and simple.
TP soon to be toilet paper.

He is a ing idiot if he does play...
The Spurs should probably shop him this summer. Enough is enough; these guys. Parker is already the oldest 27 year old in the league, is literally running on fumes and is planning on playing in the summer again so he can be in even worse shape next season? This is the same guy who publicly implored (and I was happy he did it) management at the conclusion of last season to improve the team and this is how he repays them? By not being able to be at his best consistently.
Almost everyday now it's something else; it's unfortunate how this organization went from the best in sports to unraveling this quickly. What next?
Tony plays this summer = The end of the Tim Duncan era.
He's perfectly happy finding someone to finance the French NT. If it's not the Spurs, then it'll be someone else.
Well, the FO already has an excuse to trade him if they need one now. If the Spurs don't turn things around this year, then I think they should trade TP either way. I can't wait for the next round of trade rumors before the draft. Ha.
Are you ing kidding me, Parker? Under no cir stance is him playing this summer tolerable. If he doesn't take a few months off to let his plantar fasciitis heal, he's going to doom the next season the same way he did this one. Make no mistake; Tony's injury is the biggest reason this team is this season. With another summer of basketball, we're going to see the same Parker again next year and the same result again. I'd rather just blow up the ing team than have it destined for another season of mediocrity with a 70% Parker. this entire season.
It's going to be even more painful when we find out Splitter's going to stay in Spain.
So Tony Parker needs to sacrifice his love to play for his national team for what ?
- the great fans who treat him like .
- the joy to play in a "contender" starting line up with Bonner & Bogans.
- the greatness of a coach who likes to destroy big leads with stupid small ball.
- the faithful FO who plays mind games with Manu Ginobili after all he did for that team !
- and don't forget the great Ratliff trade, just in time before the deadline... phew !
I really wonder why this guy wants to play with Noah, Batum, Pietrus, Turiaf, actually some guys who know how to defend the rim.
Maybe he just wants to play real basketball with his friends in a great compe ion.
And for those who call him selfish because he wants to play for his country...
WTF ! You are selfish when you only care about money and you doesn't give a about your country.
Now, you can insult me, you're welcome.![]()
Ok, you made me laugh !
You know, as well as I do, that he's catching this season because he exhausted his body over the summer playing for ty France and his play has suffered as a result. If that's the way he treats the SA fans that pay for tickets and the club that gives him his paycheck than he deserves all the criticism.
I'm not going to say anything about the opinions in the rest of your post. You're certainly en led to them.
This stuff about putting country before money is a joke. There have been plenty of examples where players have refused to play because they are free agents and do not want to risk injury. Where's their love of country then?
It's so easy to say that team owners should support these international compe ions and assume ALL the risk, when players routinely will avoid similar risk if they are without a contract.
Wait for the 2011 EC. You really think Tony will play if he is still a FA when the tournament begins?
I have been a big supporter of players participating in these tournaments, but common sense has to prevail. Tony is suffering from the effects of plantar fasciitis. Only an extended period of rest will correct the condition. Playing for the NT this summer puts his next NBA season at risk.
He still has every right to play, and the Spurs would then have a legitimate reason to trade him.
He's playing for the national team when he's got plantar fasciitis and needs a few months of inactivity for it to heal. He's a ing moron if he doesn't give himself a chance to beat this injury. Parker is obviously not the same player with this, so get the out of here with blaming Popovich for Parker ting his pants on the floor all season.
I'm done with Parker's selfish ass. There will be a NUMBER of disappointed suitors this summer, and until he flatlines next season, he's still a high dollar chip at the trading table.
