They got further with Damp without Nash than Nash did with Dallas OR Phoenix.
The Mavs also lost to teams they should have beat in the first round. Say what you want about Nash, but his teams have never lost to a team they were supposed to beat in the playoffs.

With Damp's departure it shouldn't be a concern. They'll have to play him 33 minutes a night.
They're not re-signing Damp once his new team releases him?

Mark Cuban wouldn't give Nash a 6 year/$66 million dollar deal in 2004 but is fine with giving similar contracts to Eric Dampier and Brendan Haywood.

Not trying to rip on Nash at all, but it's not really fair to Cuban how you criticize him like he wouldn't give a 2 time MVP that contract when at the time Nash was a borderline All-star. At the time Phoenix giving him that deal was a head scratcher, revisionist history ignores this but tons of Suns fans at the time were saying, "Great, more Bryan Colangelo overpaying B-list talent to keep the Suns compe ive." No one knew it would turn out that well.
This and Mavs trying to get past prime Duncan and Lakers Shaq with a real center.

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

The Chokericks have already cemented themselves for playoff failure next year. The fact that Duncan, Gasol, Howard, and Bogut were all on the market and they decided to resign Haywood!!

    What were they thinking!?!?!?!?!

Since Nash joined the Suns, his teams have lost to the Spurs, Lakers and Mavs in the playoffs. And the year they lost to the Mavs was when Amare was injured for the season. So the worst you can say about Nash is that he wasn't good enough to beat two of the greatest players of all time in Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant.

There's a reason why every team Nash was on that's played the Spurs in the playoffs has only won 1 series.

the guy couldn't even stay in front of Mike Bibby, much less Tony Parker.

You guys are still bitter that he left. Too bad Cuban would rather pay average centers like Dampier and Haywood than one of the ten best point guards of all time in Nash.

That's like me saying that the Mavs wouldn't have choked against the Warriors if they kept Nash. We will never know the answer to what the Mavs would have done if they kept Nash.

Considering he would've been holding Baron Davis, it's safe to assume they would've gotten raped even harder.

rofl because Nash was able to defend Davis, Ellis, Jax?

2004 the NBA had prime Duncan and prime Shaq. Dallas had no real center. Never. Nash was an above average PG in his late 20s. No one knew he would step up in his game and would be so good THIS long.

I have no problem with Cuban going for the center instead of Nash.

one of the ten best point guards of all time in Nash.

This is what you're not getting dude. Don't you think if Cuban knew Nash would turn into a 2 time MVP HOFer once he went to Phoenix he woulda made more of an effort to keep him? When Cuban let Nash leave, he was a 30 year point guard with a bad back, who at his best was a borderline AS, fresh off getting worked by Mike Bibby in a 1st round playoff exit. He had no way of knowing Nash would turn into one of the best players in the NBA. It's a lot easier to say Cuban ed up in hindsight, but at the time it made perfect sense for Cuban to go in a different direction with a more defense oriented team.

I don't care who he spends his money on. It just proves that he isn't spending his money wisely. Mavs fans are still cursing about that Dampier albatross contract.

Oh and if the system is tailor made for Nash, then please explain D'Antoni's lack of success in New York? The system doesn't work so well when Chris Duhon is the point guard.

what albatross contract? 59/6, less than 10 million for a decent defensive center.

Yeah because Nash wouldn't have been able to counter Davis offensively. One of the best shooters and passers of all time couldn't have helped out the Mavs in that series.

Does Nash's ball sack taste delicious to you?

You'd have to be an idiot to believe he would be as effective on offense after having to guard Davis on the other end, who is a much bigger, faster, stronger, and physical player than Nash.

I read the Mavs fan message boards and they don't like Dampier. They feel like they should have gotten alot more production for close to $10 million
