It's less about what the Spurs could have done and more about people failing to realize that this was not going to lead to success. I know that the Spurs didn't have the personnel to play the type of defense they played in the past...but many fans were still saying that the increase in offense would offset the defensive issues and all would be fine. I told them it was not going to be fine and they pointed to the Spurs record. Now here we are...down 3-1 to the 8 seed and no one can seem to process it. It does suck, but I can process it fine because I saw this coming long ago. I thought the Spurs would win this series fairly convincingly...partially because I underestimated the Grizz a bit. But it's no surprise to me they are losing it. It just happened a bit sooner than expected.

Fair enough. I understand what you're saying, and I can't really argue.

I will say this. With the right matchups, the Spurs could have made it to the WCF, anyway. It sounded like you were saying that a first round exit was inevitible, and that's just not right. But, yeah, in the end defense and big men win championships, and this team never had the D, or the strength in the middle to go all the way, without some amazing matchups and luck.

I think what's irking people is that it looks like we are going out in the first round, and you're saying "I told you so". That wouldn't have been a good bet, even after the late losing streak. That and the fact that it's too soon. Sort of like Gilbert Gottfried's joke right after the Japan earthquake.

    Agree? Disagree? Anyone... anyone? Beuhler?

The Manu injury had more to do with it to me than the late losing streak...

I myself said that this team's ceiling was the WCF. There have been teams in the past that played this typed of ball that made it there...and the Big 3 can never be counted out. I never expected a first round exit, but I'm far from shocked.

I'm not really saying I told you so to a first round exit...I'm saying I told you so to the team being exposed for what they are. It may come across as a bit harsh, but I've grown increasingly frustrated with people who have accepted this type of basketball as something that the Spurs could succeed with.

Or the Manu injury. I'm saying that it sounds like he was predicting a first round out, because of their style of play. That would have been a pretty bold (and ridiculous) prediction. There's a reason these other teams didn't win any more games in the regular season. And there's a reason why we beat so many of them in the regular season. Memphis happens to be the team we struggled against the most.

[For the record, Gottfried talked about a Japanese man who lost his fiancee in the tsunami, and said, "Don't worry... there will be another on floating by any minute." Kind of tacky, with everything going on over there. Maybe he should have just said, "There's other girls in the sea"? Maybe not.

This was probably just not the best time for Benefactor to sound like he was saying "I told you the Spurs would be out in the first round." It could have waited a day or two.]

Its not that he posted that they're done. Thats not the point. Its that on the night of the worst loss many Spurs fans can remember, this asshole can only think to say "I TOLD YOU SO".

I thought thats what the Mavs and Lakers trolls were for.
I don't believe for a second that Memphis is the better team.

People just fail to remember how fine the line is between winning and losing in the playoffs.

In just about every playoff series that I can remember (even in the championship le runs; excluding 99'), the Spurs were blown out at least on one occasion every series. Just like they just did in Game 4.

The difference between then and now is the Spurs usually won the games like Game 1 and Game 3. Why? Defensive stops. Which could have happened more consistently for 48 minutes had Splitter been implemented in the rotation ahead of Bonner and Blair. But Pop didn't and Spurs barely lost Games 1 and 3 with Manu with one arm and with Tony having his head up his ass. And they only lost by one possession both games.

Sorry but I'm not buying the notion that this Spurs team is losing to the better team.

So many things went against the Spurs in Games 1-3, From Manu's one arm- To Parker taking a week long siesta- To Pop taking a on his own team by playing Bonner and Blair huge minutes game 1-- To Pop taking another on his own team by realizing the obvious about Splitter when it was too late-- To Zach Randolph turning into Robert Horry Game 3- I can go on and on....

Spurs could have easily been up 3-0 or even 2-1, then this Game 4 loss doesn't look so bad.

You have to remember, in every playoff series the Spurs have played (even in the le years; excluding 99') the Spurs were always blown out at least one game. This Game 4 was that game-- It's just unfortunate the Spurs weren't able to overcome at least one or both of the defeats earlier in the series.

...that this team is a bunch of phonies with fake game plan that would not hold up in the playoffs. All you guys could say is "60 wins!"

None of you believed us...but now? Scoreboard.
